Low Tide - .97 ft. at 9:10 AM
High Tide - 8.78 ft. at 3:19 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - A Southwest swell will bring in head high to
overhead surf at the best beachbreaks with a 15 second
period, lasting until Monday morning. Expect a quick drop
back down to menial waist high surf with some chest high
sets through the midweek. And then another swell, this time
from the South, 178 degrees, will push in Friday evening
for some overhead surf with a few 2 foot overhead sets.
That swell should last through next Tuesday with another
following it from the SW.

Caribbean - A Northeast swell has kicked up some chest to
head high surf around Cahuita and Cocles, but won't last
past Saturday. By Sunday it disappears, leaving knee high
surf with maybe a wiast high set all week.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -

Its been smaller this last week than I can remember.
Whenever surf gets like this, "rumor" swells get around
more than 18year old Florida chicks on spring break in
Tamarindo. Alot of bar time...

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -

As not to be the first to start this rumor, tomorrow
(FRIDAY AUGUST 23) will see the start of a 3-4 day swell.
The surf, out of the southwest at about 225degrees, will
jump from the current 1-2ft to a solid 6ft plus...this
isn't too bad. Ollie's and Witch's both will see it.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -

Both Witch's and Ollie's. Seeing as it isn't a due south,
Witch's will pick up freight train lefts at the rivermouth.
Ollie's will be sick (as always), and town is pretty empty
at the moment so crowds should be light. We ain't tellin
anyone.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-

FRIDAY AUGUST 23 will also be a raging party at WRSC
Tamarindo, in celebration of the new swell (as if we idn't
have enough to drink the last five days). Festivities will
start at sunset- bring a female, get a free beer. Bring ten
females, get ten free beers.

* From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

After starting out the week in perfect overhead offshore
dream waves, the swell dropped and the wind turned fickle.
Yesterday, Thurs., we surfed shoulder to head high,
semi-clean, uncrowded, clear water, inconsistent waves. The
wind was probably offshore to the north of us and was
bending down the beach with just enough north in it to flaw
perfect small wave conditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a
pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas):

The afternoon high tide makes the off shores a dicey call,
although the early morning surf should begin to take shape
if it stays small.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor
lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area:

The main peaks in front of the hotel are the only call if
the swell remains small. If the wind is not off shore in
Playa Grande in the afternoon, forget finding off shores to
the south.

* From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (Mal
Pais)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS:

Small, but still clean and summery with some fun little
peaks at the beachbreaks

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND:

A bit more swell should start to creep in. Expect weather
and wind conditions to become more unpredictable as we move
into the wettest part of the year.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA.

Beachbreaks.

DOMINICAL & SOUTHERN PACIFIC

** From Greg at the Adventure Education Center in
Dominical-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

Surf has steadily increased in size from a waist high
Wednesday a.m., surf now in the head high range. Winds have
been offshore to nonexistent almost all week. Afternoon
showers are predictable.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a
pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas):

With high tide early, expect surf to be fantastic with the
dropping tide. Barrels in front of Tortilla Flats.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor
lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area:

Beachbreak all day.
