NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Continued small surf for the entire coastline, waist to occasional chest high waves. Dominical beachbreak will be best at midtide pushing in, along with other standout beach breaks. A slight increase in size will come Wednesday, but the chest to head high surf only lasts a day. Then it's back to waist to chest until next Wednesday (12/5), when a SSW brings some head high relief.

Caribbean - Chest to head high waves Sunday increase to overhead by Monday morning. Then it grows another 2 feet to max out Tuesday with set 2-3 foot overhead. Wednesday has fewer big sets, but consistent overhead conditions. Thursday the swell drops down to headhigh with some overhead sets and by Friday it's back to chest to head high. There's another ENE swell to follow that won't arrive until next Monday morning.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - (11/24)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: We have great conditions for the small (2 - 3 foot) waves.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): More of the same. The tides are moving into the mid afternoon so the presence off shores becomes a factor.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: There are small peaks all up and down the north end of the bay, and an especially good vibe in the water with the small crowd.

** From Colin at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (11/21)-

The surf has been small, but there are the occasional set waves still coming through that make it worth paddling out. The Papagayo winds (offshores) have kicked in for the season, so conditions should continue to be good. All we need now is some swell.

Luis was on fire today surfing at Playa Grande. He makes the waves look even better than they are. I'm not sure why he is wearing a wetsuit, other than the fact that he is so damn skinny and the offshore winds can chill you down. He is heading down to Jaco tonight for a surf contest. The way he has been surfing, he should do well. But then again, with the lack of swell in the water, it could be anybodys contest.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (11/24)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: No storms, no rain and no waves. Beautiful sunny skies with offshores in the mornings and those cool sea breezes in the afternoons. Water temp is a chilly 76 degrees.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Mismo!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: The skate park in Tamarindo . Grass surfing at the Monkey Park in Portegolpe or the football on TV.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: You can see what it used to look like when Playa Negra used to have waves. www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (11/25)

Buenos amigos... things are good here in Guiones, as this morning is looking pretty fun.. it is waist high with some larger peaks, but lined up pretty nicely and not looking too weak. There is yoga training going on this morning on the beach, which means that you can only whisper as you are walking out to the lineup, and no hooting... wouldn't want to throw off anyones ohmmmms now. :) Actually, if you are an older male, who is married, I wouldn't walk the beach this morning with your wife.. it is a fight waiting to happen.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (11/24)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Chest high, steady sets, glassy conditions, some offshore winds.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): May pump up to head high on Saturday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Anywhere from Playa Carmen to Suck Rock.

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Waist to shoulder high waves and over-crowding have been plaguing us since I returned from Indonesia . It must be natures revenge on me for having had so much fun and good waves in Indo. However small, these little waves are giving some fun rides at the lower tides.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Doesn't look like there is anything more on the horizon for another week at least. However, with the sunny days and no-wind conditions, the small surf is not without merit.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: The beach at Dominical is about the only place it'll be big enough for a ride.

** From Marco at Hotel Resort Totem in Playa Cocles -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: 4-6 pies

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): sol y olas

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: beach break, playa grande

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Small surf continues all week, chest high with a rare head high set - a foot smaller north of Nosara. Some southwest juice gives the southern end of the country a few head high waves on Wednesday, but it doesn't last past Thursday morning. The next South swell isn't looking too powerful, bringing some head high waves by next Tuesday.

Caribbean - East north east swell has hit the coast with chest to head high surf. A few overhead sets appear late Sunday and all day Monday, but by Tuesday the swell loses steam and backs off to chest high waves. Wednesday will have surf waist to chest high, Thursday down to waist high, and Friday, back to knee to waist. Another strong NE swell has the potential to fill in the surf by next Sunday evening.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - (11/17)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The off shores are fanning the shoulder high, perfect, surf all day long.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Morning and evening sessions are still possible until Sunday. Beat the crowd by surfing early in the morning.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's more consistent at the main peak, but there are respectable little waves here and there up and down the beach.

** From Colin at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (11/15)-

Today we still had some small surf in town (waist high), but some fun waves were had at the more exposed spots. The report from the road trip to Marbella today was chest to shoulder high with some fun waves in glassy conditions all day. It looks like we are expected to get a bit more swell this weekend, nothing big, just a bit more than we've had all week. Keith Novosel is back with us this month to take some great photos of our guests. Make sure to get him to get some shots of you surfing. He is an amazing photographer with a great eye for surf action.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (11/17)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf has been very small at 1 to 2 foot. Offshore wind most of the day and warm sunny skies. Water temp is 76 degrees.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): More small surf. Not much out there for the next week. There does seem to be a lot of jellyfish in the water right now.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's terrific beach weather right now. Take the family and the longboards and spend a day at the beach.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Check out the scenery at www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (11/18)

Good Morning folks... I am getting an early one today, shots at 5:30 this morning, no one out... but swell starting to show. I surfed last night, and every ten minutes or so there would be a little set pushing through in the rib high range, and it looks to be that big today with bigger sets. This swell won't be very strong, as it has been downgraded by both Magic and Surfline, but both still have it improving over the last few days. The peak will be this afternoon, and we will have a nice low tide for it!

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Wake up Tuesday to clean chest to head high surf, lots of fun waves for a fish or longboard. Best peaks get an overhead set each hour. Expect the same through Friday, and then a couple of sets a foot overhead Saturday - but only for incoming tide. Then it's back to small, chest high with rare bigger sets all the way through next Friday. On the 25th, you'll finally see some overhead South swell.

Caribbean - Tuesday morning shows waist high surf with an occasional chest high set. By dusk, the waves get more consistent, with a few bigger sets on the reefs. Wednesday wakes up to fun surf, but the swell fades after midday and leave only a few more chest high sets every half hour. Thursday is back to waist high, and it stays like that through Saturday with some wide scattered bigger sets all weekend.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - (11/3)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: We are still waiting for the fabled Papagayo off shores and have been surfing generally sloppy conditions this week, even with morning high tides.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): It should be rideable, but a little mixed up.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: As you tuck into the bay toward Tamarindo the surf is smoother, but smaller.

** From Colin at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (11/3)-

It's another beautiful day today. The surf is small but looks great for longboarding. Now that it hasn't rained for a few days, the water is starting to clean up. Check out our new webcam to see how the surf looks for yourself.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (11/1)

TS Noel is dumping lots of rain on Playa Negra. Once the storm moves farther north, we should be back to sunny and warm in the mornings and cloudy with rain in the afternoons. It won't be long now before this very wet rainy season is history. The surf has been in the headhigh range with fair shape. Water temp is 79 degrees. Look for a SW bump in the swell with headhigh to a couple feet overhead for the second half of this week. The wind should stay calm in the mornings and turn onshore by mid day. Looking into next week, we should see a large SW swell move into Playa Negra by Tuesday with easily double over head waves with good shape.

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (11/4)

Good Morning! I surfed before doing the report today, as I wanted to catch the lower tide early this morning. It paid off, and was the best session that I have had since getting back. I surfed for about 2 hours and had 25-30 waves... with 7 or 8 going to the beach, some 5 turns waves in there. It had good power, and it was evident that there is a new swell in the water. The water is still a bit cold... never reported that before here, but I am betting about 74 degrees. Surf was in the head high range today with some larger peaks... it was holding up good, with nice shoulders. The week has begun! Looking ahead, it is only getting bigger from here for the next four days. It looks to be peaking Weds/Thurs at 7 ft at 16-18 seconds... Not sure how big that will be... I am hoping double overhead peaks, and still manageable... but we'll see.
