TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

High Tide - 8.43 ft. at 6:04 AM
Low Tide - .95 ft. at 12:15 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - A SSW with a 12-13 sec. period takes the stage
this Saturday, late afternoon - with waves growing from
overhead to some 1-3 foot + overhead sets pegging the main
South facing beaches for Sunday and Monday. Early morning
high tides mean lots of water moving around, so find a nice
sandbar on the lower tides if the wind's not on it. Lots of
afternoon storms playing games with the wind, so watch the
weather into next week, as this swell fades out by Monday
and by Tuesday, surf returns a perfect head high and glassy
at dawn session. Next Wednesday through Friday hold the
same and another SW arrives for next weekend, sending
overhead surf from down under.

Caribbean - A 9 sec. period NE swell that has given the
right coast a little relief will gasp out by Saturday
afternoon, with some leftover chest to head high sets. By
Monday, the surf returns to waist high and by Wednesday
goes back to almost flat.

If you are in the contest, in front of Tortilla Flats. If
not, take a drive to a favorite spot that faces a little

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

The south swell accompanied by a south wind gave us a week
of huge messy waves. Langosta reportedly had the best
morning surf at Sapos with waves well overhead and fairly
clean until the winds picked up. Capitan Suizo was the
break of choice at chest to shoulder high with the south
wind being off-shore. The swell is diminishing as the week
progresses.
off-shore. El swell se disminuye mientras la semana
progresa.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

North winds are predicted for this weekend, which are
better than south winds for most of Tamarindo. The swell
passes and leaves us with our typical waist to chest surf
which will be better the earlier you get to it.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

Playa Grande should be really great in the early mornings
with the incoming tide and the left-over of the swell. In
Tamarindo, the rivermouth should be good near mid-tide and
the Langosta rivermouth near low tide. Playa Grande sera
baja.

* From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

We have been enjoying constant swell between overhead and a
half and double over head for over a week now. Different
spots have been ridable at various tides and wind
conditions. The early morning sessions have been productive
the last few mornings. With no real off shores, patience is
the key with an occassional perfect glassy wave.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

The size is right for the main peak over the weekend with
early morning tides.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

Out front if it's not too messy and Tamarindo and points
south if it is.

* From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (Mal
Pais)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS:

Swell has now dropped after the excitement of the weekend.
It's shoulder high out front this morning, clean but a
little disorganised. Weather is perfect - sunny days and
downpours at night.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND:

More swell. Should be around 5' for the weekend.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA:

Providing it stays clean, Playa Carmen should be good in
the morning around high tide.

TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

Low Tide - 1.12 ft. at 8:11 AM
High Tide - 8.32 ft. at 2:19 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - One SW swell drops off Sunday afternoon from 1-2
foot overhead surf down to chest to head high on Monday.
Then another swell fills in from the WSW, hitting the
Nicoya peninsula with solid overhead surf that last all
week. Best spot is Ollie's or Nicaruaga for sure. The
direction slowly changes to more from the South by Friday,
but size stays in the overhead range with a few bombers
arriving every 15 minutes. A freak NW pushes in some chest
high bumps on Thursday that will either A-frame the sets
out, or double them up. Overhead surf stays in the forecast
through next weekend.

Caribbean - The wave juice is being sucked up by tropical
storms in the Gulf and out past the Bahamas, leaving the
beautiful beaches flat and the water super-clean for other
water sports. If you want Gulf waves, go to Texas!

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

The week started out with some beautiful morning sessions
with light off-shores. By 9 or 10 the wind is going
on-shore and continuing through out the day. Wave size is
about waist to shoulder high, depending where and when go.
Right now rain and on-shore winds have created a lot of
disorganization and chop.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

We're expecting to see a considerable jump in wave size
this weekend, but due to the temporal, on-shore winds will
be a problem. The sea should be calmest in the early
morning when the tide is low.

headhigh to overhead peaks. Really fun at the point and at
La Esquina. Friday was overhead and peeling 100 yard rides.
Best thing was nobody was there, just us! Dominical had
consistent barrels all week during lower tides.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

Pacific - Signs of a SW swell show up with foot overhead
surf with a 20 second period on Saturday. Then by Sunday,
the size will grow another 1-2 feet throughout the day with
the incoming tide. By Monday, it will be huge, double
overhead with an 16 second period with a background chest
to head high pulse from the south filling in any gaps.
Swell drops off by Wednesday, back to head high with bigger
sets, but a second SW pushes in Thursday with waves 1-2
foot overhead which will last through next Saturday. More
overhead southerly swell planned the following week.

Caribbean - The Caribbean side will be very flat. If you
