Pacific - To be optimistic, the weather will be beautiful - hot and
sunny - for the next week. And the surf will be big all weekend,
headhigh to 2 foot overhead. By Monday though, the SW swell fades and
nothing is backing it up. By Wednesday, surf is down to chest to head
and by Saturday, some beaches will be only waist high. The next minor
swells arrive on the first of April from WNW and SW.

Caribbean - The seas have dropped for the time being, it will be
waist to chest high through the weekend and into next week. The next
swell arrives Wednesday, pushing surf back to head high with bigger
sets flowing in for Thursday and Friday before dropping quickly by
next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
We've had a week of super surf in the head high range with occasional
larger sets. The wave shape improved from good to perfect from last
weekend as the offshores diminished. The afternoon onshores on Mon.
brought our normal March warm water back and didn't affect the surf
in our area since the offshore wind has been nearly perfect for the
morning high tides. The wave window was so long on Thurs. that
outgoing tide was virtually empty for hours and a few lucky surfers
had the session of a lifetime.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): The high tides are moving in to the mid
day and surf conditions should be fine if the wind continues to
cooperate.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The focus is at the main peak,
but there are peaks working all up and down the beach with Chicken
Head Rock showing small, but good form. If this next swell hits too
hard, we'll head down the service road toward the Tamarindo Estuary.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Bring your spring suits if you plan to surf in the north
Guanacaste Coast, as strong offhsores have pushed the warm water out
to sea. For size, expect chest to head waves with surf a foot bigger
down south. The next SSW fills in next Friday, pushing the surf 1-2
feet overhead by next Sunday. Also enjoy the double sessions with the
dawn/dusk high tides.

Caribbean - Waves are still coming in waist to head high, depending
on the spot, and should increase to consistently head high or better
by Monday. It fades again quickly by Wednesday, back down to waist
high. Quite a few afternoon showers, too.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

de las olas y condiciones: Waves in Tamarindo this week are an
average of waist high; very nice for longboarding but look out for
COLD COLD WATER. Wow! Unless you are native to a cold-water break you
might want to stay on land until the off-shores let up a little.
vientos off- shore.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): It's a dawn-patrol weekend for
longboarders. With wetsuits.
tienen longboards. Y wetsuits.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
any warmer, but it should have enough size to keep the blood
circulating.

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The offshores have been strong all week, significantly lowering the
water temperature into the low 70's, and fanning perfect afternoon,
head high to slightly overhead, barrels. Lots of short Johns de
mothballed this week.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): As the offshore wind diminishes, the
water temperature will return to its characteristic March embryonic
warmth. If it goes onshore it won't affect the surf since the high
tides are now in the morning. The swell is spiking up and down at the
right size for Grande.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: There are 4 or 5 good peaks
working both ways in front of the hotel.

** From Carlos at Roca Bruja Surf Tours in Playa de Coco -

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -Dominical; the
weather is hot, with some afternoon showers or evening showers. The

seen.

Full Moon - March 6th

Low Tide: .8 ft at 7:57 am
High Tide: 7.86 ft at 2:15 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Swell from the WNW continues to greet the Guanacaste coast
with overhead conditions and a few bigger bombs every hour. Be sure
to get in a morning sesh to enjoy the offshores, and then be
pleasantly surprised when the winds go offshore again in the
afternoon. Big tide pull with the full moon on Saturday. The overhead
surf sticks around all week, but will be 1-2 foot smaller down south
until next Thursday. It's a good swell for Witches.

Caribbean - The macked out double overhead+ East swell will not
fizzle through the weekend, so watch for some dangerous currents. By
Monday it drops to a managable 1 foot overhead and by Tuesday it's
chest to head high. Wednesday you're wondering if the ever was a
swell, topping off sets at waist to chest. But next Thursday you'll
see the stirrings of a new SE beast, looking good going into next
weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

Tamarindo has been blessed with waves from the north and west for the
last week and a half. Size ranges from overhead in Langosta, to
shoulder high at the rivermouth and waist to chest in front of
Pedros. It's been breaking in front of the Diria and all along the
middle section of the beach which only sees waves this time of year.
The ripping off-shores have made it tough to get into.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este

prediced to pick back up. Expect a lot of wind and cold water. El

permite.

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The twisty, lopsided, swell has been powerful, but not too big all
week, with "puuurfect" over head conditions Thursday at high tide.
The off shores have been stiff, but manageable here in Playa Grande
since Monday. Yesterday the wind finally let off in the afternoon and
turned on shore.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): The good surf conditions should hold
for the week end with the dropping swell. Next week the afternoon
wind conditions at high tide will be the key element.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: This swell is hitting the main
peaks just right. Some of our guests have been slipping down the
service road to the elusive Tamarindo Estuary break for incoming and
catching it.

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -Dominical. Wave heights have been
around head high, some sets a bit overhead, but closed out and
without form.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -Dominical. It
appears that a south south west swell wants to come in, but as I
mentioned before, the form has been horrible. Weather wise, it has
been hot, hot, hot, with an occasional shower in the
afternoon-evening.
tarde -noche.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -Dominical. If the wave
heights jump up a bit, maybe the point, if not, we're stuck with
beach break Dominical.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Today Dominical celebrated being awarded
the "blue flag" for having a clean beach, and for having a turtle
reserve, where turtle eggs are nested, and cared for, number, and
then released into the ocean. Noticias y dias especiales:Hoy
