Make your plans to surf the Pacific early in the week, when waves are up to 1 foot overhead from a SW swell with a 16 second period. That's gone by Wednesday evening, leaving chest to head high leftovers all the way through the weekend and well into next week. The Caribbean is in the same boat, nice East swell early, but fading to waist high by Friday.

AREA REPORTS

** From James at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (3/8) -
Today the conditions are much better because the wind help a lot, offshore and size 2 ft to 4 ft, a perfect day for surfing in Tamarindo and watching the sunset.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (3/8)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The last couple days have seen small waist to chest high waves with fair shape. Beautiful sunny skies. Not much wind in the mornings and onshore breezes in the afternoons. Water temp is 82 degrees.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): The swell will start to increase from the SW Sunday with the best waves happening Tuesday and Wednesday. Look for it to be a couple feet over head on the sets with good shape.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEK IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: We have a pretty extreme low tide running through the mornings this week. It might just be too low for rocky Playa Negra. Check out Playa Avellanas rivermouth and Little Hawaii .
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Check the Playa Negra slide shows at www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (3/9)
Good morning folks! Surf is once again looking good in Guiones this mornin with chest high sets rolling in, and close to perfect form... Looks like long lines without too many closeouts... but we are approaching a low tide in a few hours, so that may start to change as the tide drops out. Looks like a tweener day, fish or shortboard??? No se mai... Looking ahead, you may want to make this a lay day as we have a new SW headed our way, should start impacting our surf this evening... 5ft at 14 secs... it is at 209, so that is a bit south, but it shouldn't be big enough to closeout... but we may have some pretty quick ones.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (3/8) -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Head high, good shape - glassy morning & late afternoon conditions - some offshore winds.

** From Andrea at Waves CR Surf Camp in Playa Hermosa (3/8) -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Small but nice glassy conditions early mornings/ the wind tends to stay onshore for the late sessions.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): The swell keeps on dropping. 3. 5 ft @ 11 seconds and will keep dropping during the week.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEK IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: I will go ahead and recommend the beach breaks/ tulin and bejuco could be going off with the low tide, early in the morning.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Steel pulse concert in town March 16 th - AbyssNyah head instructor and guide for Waves Costa Rica will open the show for them playing some orginal tunes!
