The best time to surf the Caribbean side will be this Wednesday through Friday. After that, there's another big swell out in the Atlantic, but no signs when it will filter in to the coast. On the Pacific, the week starts slowly with chest high waves, then on Thursday some long range WNW swell gives the Guanacaste coast some head high surf. On Friday the Southwest swell arrives with a 16 second period. This swell lasts ALL NEXT WEEK, so bring your big wave stick.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (3/15)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: We have great just overhead surf right now.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Good conditions for great surf if the swell holds at this size and the wind stays off shore in the morning as predicted.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: The main focus is to the south of the main peak. Lots of room

** From Rafael at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (3/14) -

Today in Tamarindo the wave look small but glassy and clasic conditions, size 2ft to 4ft. A cloudy day due to rain last night but perfect for longboarders..

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (3/15)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The waves have been head high plus with good shape. Mostly sunny skies with light offshore wind in the mornings, coming onshore early these past couple days. Water temp is 82 degrees.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Smaller surf coming up as this last SW fades. Great beach weather coming up for Semana Santa. More head high plus waves due mid week.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: We have high tide running through mid mornings this week. Check out Playa Negra for the best wave in this area.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Check out the photo website at www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Steve at Coconut Harrys Surf Shop in Playa Guiones (3/15) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Sat. morning the waves were 3-4 ft with some nice over head sets. The wind turned onshore early but the waves held up and therewere some really long lefts and rights.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): It should continue to be head high to overhead. The tide is high at 10 a.m. Sunday so the best bet would be first thing in the morning when the wind is right.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Playa Guiones has the most consistent waves right now but it does not hurt to check out Ostional or Marbella for some stronger faster waves.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: The Nosara surf instructors are at the surf contest in Playa Carmen representing Coconut Harrys and Playa Nosara. Good Luck Esteban, Cacho, Luis y Jesse!

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (3/15)

Good morning folks! Surf is once again looking good in Guiones this mornin with chest high sets rolling in, and close to perfect form... Looks like long lines without too many closeouts... but we are approaching a low tide in a few hours, so that may start to change as the tide drops out. Looks like a tweener day, fish or shortboard??? No se mai... Looking ahead, you may want to make this a lay day as we have a new SW headed our way, should start impacting our surf this evening... 5ft at 14 secs... it is at 209, so that is a bit south, but it shouldn't be big enough to closeout... but we may have some pretty quick ones.

** From Chuck at Walking on Water Surf Shop in Jaco (3/15)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Small clean fun waves and maybe a bump coming ? Weather is nice too! Want a real good deal on a new stick, we have few 07s we are blowing out but they are selling fast, mention you saw this note on CRSURF and we will pass on some unreal deals ! Chuck and the CREW !
