Pacific - Overhead surf planned for Saturday and Sunday, choppy from
some localized tropical systems off the Guanacaste coast. Monday and
Tuesday will be smaller, chest to head high with only a few overhead
sets every hour and a short 9 second period. Wednesday will see head
high surf with one sneaker 1 foot overhead set every twenty minutes.
Thrusday has more 1-2 foot overhead sets, and by Friday a mackin SW
with an 18 second period shows up to bring 2-4 foot overhead surf
for the rest of the weekend. By next Monday it drops off two feet,
but another SSW swell is behind it.

Caribbean - Still flat all week and on the weekend on the right
coast with no tropical activity expected to push up wind swell. How
about 7 days and 6 nights at the Cashew Hill Lodge overlooking

AREA REPORTS (sent in on 10/1)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The ocean has not settled down yet and the surf has been sketchy at
best.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Not much, but the weather is
showing signs of mellowing out and there are cold fronts to the
north which are a good sign.

** From Travis at Witchs Rick Surf Camp in Tamarindo -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Rain, rain and more rain… and
wind. Conditions, over the last 7 days have been the worst we've
seen around
here in quite a while. It wasn't until yesterday that we had what
could be called ride-able waves. Today, the sky is clear and the
wind is considerably less blustery.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): We still have a
good swell hitting our coast so if the rain and wind will agree to a
cease fire, we should get some good surfing this weekend. Expect
chest to head high waves on the Northwest Coast of Costa Rica
through the weekend.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Surfers here have
their collective fingers crossed that conditions will allow for some
high quality surf this weekend. The direction of this weekend's
swell should make for happy surfers at Grande, Negra and Avellanas.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- WRSC's hotel and restaurant are currently
closed for renovations until October 15th but we are still offering
beginner surf lessons, board rentals and boat trips to Witch's and
Ollie's. Be sure to plan a visit to WRSC on Saturday, October 15th
for our GRAND REOPENING PARTY! Come have a great meal with the best
cocktails in town in our shiny new digs.
We'll see you here! Pura Vida y Buenas Olas! Travis Call - Positive
Vibe Technician - Witch's Rock Surf Camp

** From John Lyman Photos at Pablo's Picasso with the Playa Negra
surf report:
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The surf has been in the headhigh and a bit overhead range with
onshores and pretty much choppy seas.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): More of the same and a decreasing
swell. Even with the onshores there are still those windows, like
mid tide coming up that can still be a blast for those that are
there at the right time.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The best place this weekend
for surf is right in front of your computer to see who wins the pro
contest in France.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Check out John

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The swell has backed down, but the 3 foot waves that are here are
PERFECT FORM... Long rides, glassy conditions, off shore winds.
Awesome Longboarding. Nice sunset sesh's, choppy and windy with the
rain.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): A swell is expected to be coming
in, bringing 4 to 6 foot waves, nice form. For the weekend we have 3
foot waves, soft peaks, great for intermediate surfers. Good time to
practice up on your skills. Perfect conditions for beginners for
whitewater. Choppy conditions with rain.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The best surfing spot in
Samara is right in front of the Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel. No
crowds or localism, with a nice clean perfect wave. LONG RIDES THIS
WEEK!
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Native
Samarian James Flores took first place in local surf competition
last Saturday. Surfed in first heat, then was advanced straight to
the semi-finals, not having to compete through all 10 heats. James
is 23 years old and is the gym manager and surf instructor at
Jesse's surf and Gym in Samara. James is looking for sponsers to
help him compete in the larger, more up scale surf competetions.
