NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Surf stays small through Sunday morning, with the first
overhead sets from a 12 second period SSW swell arriving for the
late afternoon session. Monday, the 4th, it picks up a foot with in
consistent 1-2 foot overhead sets. Tuesday the swell maxes out, 1-3
foot overhead, and Wednesday it's still big, but cleaner. Thursday
it will drop two feet, and stay overhead until next weekend. More SW
swell keeps it overhead and bigger for the following week.

Caribbean - If you want to surf the Caribbean, head on over Monday
morning and wait for the East swell to fill in with some chest to
head high sets by evening. Tuesday is overhead at the best spots,
with possibly a few freak sets. Monday morning it fades quickly,
back down to waist to chest by the afternoon. And Thursday through
next weekend goes back to flatness. Atlantic tropical systems may
push in by the following week.

AREA REPORTS

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop in Tamarindo -
This has been a great week for surf lessons. The waves are waist
high and the wind has been off shore every morning until almost
noon. The ocean was pretty muddy from a lot of rain last weekend,
but by now it's cleaned up and is clear again.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): It should be a great weekend for
longboarding in the late morning and early afternoon.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The beach break in Tamarindo
is a great place to surf right now if you're looking for small
waves; for more size, check out Langosta.
Langosta.
Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -
Thurs. morning was head high and perfect for 6 hours, but on Fri. it
dropped to a slightly drunken, chest high, long boarder
extranvaganza. The wind conditions are moving toward a more Indian
Summer off shore.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): The high tide is still in the
morning so the wind should be alright at least for in coming, but
we'll need a little more swell for it to get really good not just
rideable.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's pretty much only hitting
out in front of the hotel.

** From Mike at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS – The surf this past weekend was
really epic. We are just coming off nice swell that leveled out at
10-12 feet and started dropping off on Tuesday. This upcoming
weekend is the first weekend in a month we will see decreasing swell
activity. The surf at Tamarindo Rivermouth has clean conditions
every morning and late in the evenings. However, all the beaches in
Northern Costa Rica are dropping in wave size as we speak.
Nevertheless, the wind has been near perfect all week and will
probably stay light off-shore throughout the weekend. My advice for
the weekend is keep the fish and long board handy, because the surf
is looking like it will be in the waist to chest high range with
clean conditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) –
Due to the increase rain activity the river runoff has caused the
water to become a little murkier than usual. However, the waves are
still peeling in the usual way. This weekend will see more of the
same. The swell system will continue to drop off throughout the
weekend. The surf will go from chest high on Thursday to possibly
knee to waist high on Sunday. I would look for some smaller waves
with nice form. There is a good possibility of rain throughout the
weekend. With this in mind, your best bet would be to surf early in
the morning and late in the afternoon. On the upside I do believe we
will have a building swell heading our way by mid next week!
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA –
All the beaches in Northern Costa Rica should have waist to chest
high conditions. The swell will be dropping off throughout the
weekend. Look for Tamarindo, Avellanas, Witch's Rock, Ollie's Point,
Playa Negra, Play Grande, and Nosara to all have glassy to semi-
glassy surf in the waist high range. All the breaks should have some
fun waves to be had. Nevertheless, another S-SW swell should show up
sometime next week.

** From Harry at Coconut Harry's in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

Pura Vida from Playa Guiones! It's waist-chest high, but fun in the
mornings with the glassy conditions. Looks like a 'bump-up' showing
Monday/Tuesday. Surf lessons and BIC boards for sale:

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -
With the new moon on it's way the swell looks like it's rising.
Right now the conditions are the regular 3 foot mushy waves. Close
outs during low and mid tides. Great whitewater for beginners. After
the rains hit the conditions turn glassy with good shape.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): A swell is expected to be coming
in if so nice3 to 5 foot waves, good shape and glassy conditions
after rainstorms. Choppy when it is windy.During low tides some 4 to
6 foot close outs roll in.
1.80 ms.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar para
surfear este fin de semana en su área: The best surfing spot in
Samara is right in front of the Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel. No
crowds or localism and a cleaner wave.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y días especiales: The conditions
in Samara are perfect for beginners right now, so if you've always
wanted to learn surfing come on down or over! Pura Vida - Las
entonces, si siempre has querido aprender a surfear ¡ven para acá!
