NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Surf overhead to 2 foot overhead all weekend, with a large
SW swell arriving at dusk on Sunday putting surf 2-4 foot overhead
with a 15 second period for a high tide dawn patrol. Only stays a
day, dropping back to 1-2 foot overhead Tuesday, and down to
overhead by Wednesday evening. Stays head high to overhead from
Thursday until next Sunday, swell from the SW with a 10 second
period. Expect another SSW pulse to push surf to 2-3 foot overhead
by next Monday afternoon - 4th of July.

Caribbean - Waves knee to waist high over the weekend and into next
week. By Tuesday afternoon some chest high peaks arrive once every
30 minutes, and by Wednesday it gets more consistent. Doesn't last
past the day with Thursday showing more waist high waves, continuing
that way through the weekend. Potential tropical storm crossing the
isthmus next weekend, bring surf a week from Tuesday.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The head high plus swell calmed down on Thurs. and although still a
little messy, it's very rideable. We're still having lots of rain
mixed in with the sunshine, but it is usually the kind that glasses
it off.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):
The tides are getting right for dawn patrol and I'm hoping for some
glassy quality.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
The swell is focusing in on this end of the bay but there are good
waves, however inconsistent, everywhere.

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

The week started out with a nice south swell, but it has tapered off
now and we're waiting for the next one. Waves right now are about
waist high at the high tides and great for longboarding. It hasn't
rained that much this week and even though the wind isn't off-shore
very often, it's been fine for surfing anyway.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):

Another south swell is supposed to show on Sunday or Monday, so
we'll see what happens. No matter what, sunset sessions are certain
barring any late afternoon thunderstorms (always possible). Otro

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a

Even though Tamarindo is small, Langosta has got waves on the
dropping tide! Aunque Tamarindo no tiene mucho, Langosta tiene olas
bueanas cuando la marea empieze a secar.

** From Mike at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS –
Early this week the surf has been in the waist to chest high range
in Northern Costa. Once again this weekend is sending us more S-SW
swell. The surf at Tamarindo Rivermouth has seen clean conditions
every morning and late in the evening. By Friday the 24th, this
swell is expected to drop to its lowest point: chest to shoulder
high with some occasional pulses. Then, things get interesting for
the weekend. It will probably be raining on and off all day,
throughout the weekend. The rain is keeping the wind light in the
morning and in the early evenings. However, during the rain, the
wind can kick up and cause the surf to appear choppy. Just hang out
on the beach for awhile and let it pass because the surf is gonna be
kickin' when it is done.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) –
Saturday the 25th, more so on Sunday the 26th, some decent SW swell
is due. The first swell system is moderate and is due on Saturday
the 25th. The second is bigger, due on the 26th, yet some of its
early swells are due on the 25th as well, holding long, 18-second
periods when they trickle in. With this in mind, we're expecting
Saturday the 25th to see head high SW sets with occasional sets
going a few feet overhead. By late afternoon or evening, however,
when the tide is right, some sets could reach near double overhead;
although, these sets will be rare until Sunday. The swell will level
out at a 10-12 feet on Monday and start dropping off next Tuesday
and Wednesday. The surf should be in the head high range all weekend
long with the swell reaching its peak Sunday evening. The wind could
be hit or miss, but, as always, the wind is tough to call.
Nevertheless, it looks as though we will have offshore/side shore
conditions Saturday and Sunday and early next week.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA –
All the beaches in Northern Costa Rica should have epic surf with
glassy conditions in the morning. If the wind treats us right we
should have building surf all weekend long. Look for Tamarindo,
Avellanas, Witch's Rock, Ollies Point, Playa Negra, Play Grande, and
Nosara to all have glassy surf in the head high plus range. All the
breaks should have some fun waves to be had. Nevertheless, this
almost direct south swell should peak on Monday.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-
Witch's Rock Surf Camp is very proud to announce that we are now
offering a 5-day surf package that includes a trip to Witch's Rock
and Ollies. So check out our updated website frequently. So stop by
for a draft beer and an epic sunset at our little surf camp on the
beach.

** From Harry at Coconut Harry's in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -

Right now the conditions are the regular 3 foot mushy waves. Close
to shore, during lower tide great whitewater for beginners. After
the rains hit the conditions turn glassy with good shape. Justo
principiantes. Después de las lluvias las condiciones son
cristalinas y con buena forma.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Qué va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):

A swell is expected to be coming in if so nice 4 to 6 foot waves,
good shape and glassy conditions after rainstorms. Choppy when it is
windy.
tormentas. Malas olas cuando hay viento.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar para

The best surfing spot in Samara is right infront of the Las Brisas
Del Pacifico hotel. No crowds and a cleaner wave.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y días especiales:

The conditions in Samara are perfect for beginners right now, so if
you've always wanted to learn surfing come on down or over! Pura
Vida.
ahora, entonces, si siempre has querido aprender a surfear ¡ven para
