NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Southwest swell with a 13 second period arrives this
afternoon sending in 1-2 foot overhead surf. Stays the same size
through Monday. Then Tuesday the sets get farther apart and by
Wednesday it's back down to overhead, Thursday it's head high. It
will stay smaller - headhigh to overhead through next Sunday, but by
Monday a powerful south swell will begin to push in some 2 foot
overhead sets and get stronger next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Caribbean - Just a few more days of flatness before a tropical front
brings surf waist high Tuesday and grows to chest to head high for
Wednesday. Drops again Thursday down to waist to chest and
dissipates by the weekend. This may change based on the direction
the tropical front takes.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -
Nice overhead morning surf. On Thurs. the wind was actually off shore
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): The just overhead swell is
growing and a little raw. Don't expect a lot of quality unless the
wind blows off shore which it could since the high tides are in the
morning.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: All the spots around the
hotel are picking up the swell. We have heard whispered glowing
reports about Chicken Head rock at the north end of the bay lately.

** From Harry at Coconut Harry's in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -
It's Coconut Harry from Playa Guiones (Nosara) - the surf here is
small
(chest-headhigh), but a lotta fun! Looks like a new swell to bump it
up
over the weekend. PURA VIDA! Need an entry-level board? Come by my
shop - we have all sizes BIC epoxy-plastic boards - they're rugged &
durable + great float for easy novice paddling. Contact me by phone
#682-0574 or email: coconutharrys@... Pura Vida!

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -
Right now the conditions are the regular 3 to 4 foot soft peak
waves. Close outs during low and mid tides. Great whitewater for
beginners. After the rains hit the conditions turn glassy with good
shape.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Qué va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): A swell is expected to be coming
in if so nice 4 to 6 foot waves, good shape and glassy conditions
after rainstorms. Rain to be expected with some sunny days in
between. Welcome to winter in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The best surfing spot in
Samara is infront of the Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel. No crowds,
no shore break with a clean nice peak wave.
cresta alta y limpia.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y días especiales: The conditions
in Samara are perfect for beginners right now, so if you've always
wanted to learn surfing come on down or over! Pura Vida Las
entonces, si siempre has querido aprender a sufear ven para acá.
Pura Vida

** From Chuck at W.O.W. Surf Shop in Jaco -
W.O.W. super fun surf at Terrazas until the SEA LICE came out! Head
high and clean glassy barrels, nobody out just a few guys watching
us get a few but NO couldn't handle it, imagine FIRE ANTS of the
water. Kind of a good sign on the other hand of a new current out
front so maybe its going to get even better! The boys went out front
after we returned and said that it was 3-4 ft faces and real clean
and NO BUGS in Jaco! Come on down the surfs been great for months
now so what are you waiting for ! PURA VIDA and HAPPY SURFING! Chuck
and THE CREW at W.O.W. surf ! Call us for an update if youd like at
506-643-3844 or send and e-mail to chuck@... .

** From Rancho Coral at Playa Esterillos -
Air Temp: 91F. Water Temp 87F, Direction & Height: South 4-6ft, Sea
Surface: Glass, Wind: South 0-5 MPH, Sunrise: 5:17 AM, Sunset: 5:58
PM, Current Conditions: Really Good surf today and it is getting
bigger as I hear my windows shaking on the sets, It's not scheduled
to get big until Monday or Tuesday. We have perfect tides for all
day surf. We are pretty much full until Sept. If you have any
special requests lessons or to rent a house call Arturo here at The
Ranch, PURA VIDA!!!!

** Remember to check the Rover Cam for daily pics of the Central
Pacific coast!

** From Brice at Land Assurance Reforestation Services in Dominical -

Really nicely shaped, head high waves are coming in from a bunch of
different directions. This makes the beach peaky and fun. Every once
in a while two waves stack up and you can get a couple of feet
overhead, but just about no one is outside waiting for them because
they are so infrequent. The shoulders of these doubles are nice if
you happen to be at the right place at the right time. Don't try
high tide (usually the preferred tide) as the waves are too mushy.
It is best about 2 hours before or after. High tide today (Friday)
was at 10:30 am.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Looks the same to me but maybe
with some bigger waves coming by Monday. We are two or three days
into a veranillo (little summer) that we are all hoping lasts for a
while longer.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The beach at Dominical or
Hermosa. The river mouth at Dominical seems to be the best but the
cold and dirty water from the river is a drag.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: There is some
sort of 4th of July event for the lifeguards coming up on the 3rd of
July. More next week.
