AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop (& Surf Lessons) in Tamarindo -

With this new moon, the tides are super-high/low, so mid-tide looks
like high tide this weekend and high tide looks like a flood. Winds
are strong off-shore, surf is waist high with a few chest sets now
and then.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):

It doesn't look like the surf is going to pick up yet, so expect
nice late-afternoon sessions on the incoming tide. Wave size will
probably be about the same. No parece que las olas cambiaran de
tamano hasta la otra semana. Las tardes justo antes del atardecer
sera el mejor momento para surfear.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a

The beach break in Tamarindo is small and really nice, buy crowded
at the high tides. If you're a confident surfer and want a little
space, try Langosta in the early afternoon. It might not be big, but
there will be less people.
mediodia. No sera grande, pero habra menos gente.

** Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The surf has been jumping up and down all week for overhead and a
half consistent sets to shoulder high. With the constant off shores
the quality has been excellent with some misto sessions here and
there. This is very typical surf for this time of the year - maybe a
little on the better than average side. I surfed the main peak 3
times this week with a maximum of one other person to share it with.
A good vibe in the water this week with very little hustling.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
are great for the surf here allowing us double sessions and less
people in the water. The sand is excellent, but is beginning to
change. I'm not sure it can get much better, but we'll see.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
has been breaking. There's waves everywhere.

** Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The surf got smaller and smaller
throughout the week, but conditions were still great. Offshore winds
every day, waves in the shoulder high plus range, things don't get
much better than that! Plus, I just surfed Witch's Rock yesterday
afternoon and the swell was still overhead on the sets. Not bad as
there were only 6 people out...

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - I feel like its
Christmas as we keep getting these NW swells one after another after
another after another etc. Yes, another one should hit Sunday/Monday
timeframe, and at least 1-2foot overhead, probably bigger. With
these winds and these swells, this is shaping up to be one of the
better seasons I can remember in a while.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - Tamarindo Rivermouth
has been firing, get ready for big ol barrels. And if you're really
ready for some serious surf I'll see you at the rock.

** From High Tide Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
Grande y Marbella

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Hemos recibido

** From Coconut Harry in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

Hola from Playa Guiones (Nosara)! It's been windy and the surf is
affected - maybe chest high, but tough to get into. Weekend and
early next week should be better surf with the wind relenting. Now
in Costa Rica - BIC epoxy plastic surfboards - call or email me for
prices. Coconut Harry ph. 682-0574 coconutharrys@... - contact

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

DOMINICAL & OSA

CARIBBEAN

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The waves are generally shoulder
high with an occational head high set coming along. The great thing,
however, is that there are two very distinct and very evenly matched
swells coming in one from the north and one from the south. So,
where the two waves meet, there are some great peaky rides to be had
(and at the very peak, if one is lucky enough to be there, can be
found a good overhead ride).

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - From LOLA it
appears that there will be a continuing 3-4' swell (At Dominical,
that translates to about shoulder-to-head high ride) but it appears
that only the southern wave will remain. So, those peaky sets will
probably die out and the conditions will be a little more closed
out. You'll enjoy the mid-tide session the most.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - With the peaky
condition, the whole beach from Roca Verde to the river mouth (and
even some folks to the north) was available. Most likely, we'll find
a crowd off of Tortilla flats again this weekend. Too small for the
point and too closed out for the northern part of the beach.

** From Cashew Hill Lodge in Puerto Viejo -

3 ft. good form

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
Salsa Brava
