High Tide - 7.58 ft. at 1:14 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - This weekend will be the time to go east and get some good
surf while the west coast is left with chest to head high, clean
peaks, a foot smaller up around Tamarindo. The next swell arrives
slowly from the South. Tuesday you'll see a few overhead sets come
through and by Wednesday at dawn it will be consistent overhead. Add
another foot for Thursday, and mix it with a long range WNW swell. By
next weekend, surf should stay overhead and the tides will be great
for a double sesh.

Caribbean - You will not be sorry if you come to the right coast to
surf. This weekend, waves in the head high to overhead range, and by
Monday it jacks up another 2 feet. This ENE stays until Tuesday
afternoon. Wednesday is another overhead day and Thursday the swell
reintensifies, building to 2-3 foot overhead with bigger sets at the
best spots. The size then drops a foot by next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diane, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

It's small here in the Tamarindo bay which is nothing new. Mornings
are clean with light off-shore winds, but the rainy-season weather
pattern contines, and the wind is going on-shore between 9 and 9:30
AM. Clear skies, but on-shore winds. Is this El Nino? High tide
brings us waves of about 3 - 4 feet, but by that time the wind has
been on it for several hours.
Sera
El Nino? A la marea alta, hay olas de 3 o 4 pies, pero a esa hora el
viento es problematico.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
It's going to be sunny and gorgeous, but the surf is going to totally
depend on the wind. In the mornings when the wind is good, the tide
will be out, so it might be a good weekend to clean the house or do
some board repair!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
Langosta is our only hope. There's not enough swell to break the
Tamarindo rivermouth at low tide, so if there are nice morning waves
nearby they will be in Langosta. Avellanas has some low tide breaks
for early mornings, too.
mananas tambien.

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The swell has been slowly building for the last few days, but the
wind is eddying on this side of the cape and
keeping the well overhead surf in a slight funk, or even junky, at
the best tides.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
If the wind straightens out, it could be epic since the swell is a
good size for powerful, clean surf.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
The peaks in front of the hotel are lining up nicely.

JACO & HERMOSA

** From Tommy at Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 7:15AM Local Climate: Sunny, Air Temp: 97f,

mellow tides for all day surfing here, PURA VIDA!!!! Costa Rica
Extended Forecast. We are looking forward to be receiving surf from
the Southwest in the area six feet plus at the best spots backing
down after This Sunday.

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf in Jaco -

Okay from Jaco 2-4 ft faces kind of funky bumpy with the midday winds
but still rideable !

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
medio dia entonces usted sabe! Midday high tide aint so great for us
Jaco locals and thats what we got so make the best of it !

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
Maybe watch for the sunday bump from the south for a quicky at
