NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Saturday morning looks good for the dawn patrol with some
head high glass, but the size drops again in the afternoon and on
Sunday. The next SWer arrives on Monday, with head high to overhead
waves for the southern and central coasts. Will be consistent all
through the week, but only chest high up north until next Wednesday,
when a WNW swell moves out over the Pacific and sends back some head
high juice for next weekend. Keep your eyes peeled for a the first
good South of the year, coming Monday the following week.

Caribbean - More good surf expected over the weekend, getting to 1-2
overhead at the beachbreaks and bigger at key locales. The ESE swell
strengthens Sunday pushing 3+ overhead surf to the reefs. Stays big
until Wednesday afternoon, the quickly fades, leaving chest high
clean waves for next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diane, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

Another week of small surf in the bay, waves up to waist high
breaking in fairly shallow water. Some mornings this week have had
less wind, but it always cranks up by the middle of the day. Anybody
remember how we had a spell like this last year at this time? Otra

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
Sunday could be our lucky day, as reports are predicting a bit of a
pick up Sunday and Monday. Don't expect any changes in the wind
patterns, though.
lunes. No espere grandes cambios en el viento.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
It looks like the swell direcion is shifty (as there is little swell
to speak of), so head for open beaches like Nosara and Avellanas.
Avellanas.

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

Thurs. the small small, perfect conditions we have been enjoying for
the last several weeks continued to produce in the head high range on
the good sets. The long waits were well worth the wind swept perfect
lefts and rights when they finally came. The water is still warm for
this time of the year and I am surfing the mid day
sessions without my light vest.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
The high tide is moving into the afternoon, but we should be all
right with the off shores in the afternoon if our current conditions
hold which is what I expect. High tide is getting a little too full
for small surf now that the moon is pulling.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
There are small waves everywhere in the bay with the bigger sets
focusing in front of Las Tortugas Hotel during incoming tide.

JACO & HERMOSA

mph Sunrise: 6:01AM Sunset: 5:47 PM High Tide: 11:14 AM / 6.21 ft
Low Tide: 04:50 AM / 2.05 ft It's great surf today! Barrels and long

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf in Jaco -

Waves are 2/3 ft or so and tide are soooo bad for me here in jaco !
Hermosa is suffering from straight on swell so its pretty closed out
too ! Maybe a quick ride to Estirillos center is the call but with
higher tide so late in the day its going to be a tough one, contest
in Quepos national circuit and its going to be SMALL so ride a
fish with a motor !
