The Caribbean continues its hot streak of overhead surf from the East, shrinking a foot Tuesday and Wednesday, but growing slowly back to 1-2' overhead through to the weekend. On the Pacific, first a WNW arrives giving the Guanacaste coast some overhead relief. Then on Thursday, a SW swell stirs up around Isla de Coco and pushes surf 1-2 foot overhead to the southern coasts. This swell is a little weaker up on the Nicoya, but still packs a punch and lasts all weekend. More SW arriving midweek next week.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (2/15)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf in Playa Grande this week is in the head high range for the farely inconsistent sets. The wind is off shore and some of the better waves are perfectly shaped. The water is a little colder than usual and the crowds have been light for the last few days.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Excellent morning surf.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: There are peaks everywhere - all the way to Tamarindo .

** From Carlos at Costa Rica Adventures in Playa de Coco (2/15) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Witchs Rock: 4 a 6 feet EN EL PUNTO DEL BURRO BUENOS TUBOS, VIENTO OFF SHORE TODO EL DIA, EL AGUA MUY FRIA.. Ollie's Point: 4 feet muy divertido con buenos tubitos, viento muy fuerte, las condiciones del agua y MUY FRIA!... Reporte de Carlos Barrera and Adan Barrera - Witchs Rock Surf Tours, Boat trips, surf reports, fishing and photographer services. phone: 381-91-66 email rocasurf@... or witchsrocksurftours@... or www.costaricaaventuras.com

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (2/16)

Playa Negra has seen very small surf the last few days. Knee high on the sets. Hard offshore wind all day has dropped the ocean temp to the mid 70s. Coming up we have sunny and warm with those offshores continuing as our swell starts to pick up with a nice SW showing today and staying with us for the next few days. Look for head high plus sets through Monday. We have high tide running through the mornings now so get to Playa Negra early for some fun stuff with less people.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Check out the Playa Negra slide shows at www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (2/16)

Surf is looking fun this morning in Playa Guiones, with good sets pushing through in the chest to maybe head high range... it is still a long wait to get one, but things are looking up. It won't be flat this week, but it won't be epic... but there are some little swells from the south headed our way.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (2/15)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Chest high - good, clean conditions in the morning. Blown out in the afternoon
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Weather expected to be the same.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Playa Carmen to Playa Santa Teresa
