NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Waves will be headhead to overhead Tuesday through Thursday, coming from the WSW and SW. Lots of set waves, and still lots of rain showers. Friday the weather clears up, but the waves clear out leaving cleaner chest to head high surf. Saturday and Sunday morning stay small, but by Sunday evening a few overhead sets show at sunset. By next Monday a SW swell greets the new week with surf overhead, growing to 2 foot overhead by next Wednesday.

Caribbean - Waist high surf Tuesday, with the sets getting more infrequent throughout the day. Wednesday and the rest of the week will be knee high with a rare waist high set at the remote beaches. The first strong NE swell shows up on the radar a week from Tuesday, 11/5.

AREA REPORTS

** From Colin at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (10/25)-

Another sunny day. I don't think it has rained at all this entire week, which is a welcome relief from this otherwise monsoonal rainy season. Waves are good too, with chest to shoulder high waves breaking out in front of our hotel, and the conditions are still glassy and its almost 1:00 pm. Right now, the tide is rising and the waves are a bit slower than earlier, but still very surfable. I'd suggest taking out the longboard for some fun rides. Water quality is improving, due to the lack of rain. The bay is clearing up and the ocean is starting to look inviting again. Lets, hope this continues. A month from now, we will be wondering if the constant deluge this rainy season was real. We are expecting the swell to pick up over the next few days. Keep checking back for updates.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (10/27)

We have had beautiful sunny skies with no rain for the last few days. It rained a bit today but that is normal for this time of year. The surf has been small with fun shape at the incoming tides. Water temp is 83 degrees and the water quality at Playa Negra is good. Look for an increase in swell from the SW for this weekend with well overhead waves with good shape. The wind should be light offshore in the mornings but coming onshore fairly early. It's a very low tide all though the mornings this week. Watch out for those rocks. The surf stays in the headhigh to overhead range through the end of the month. Happy Holloween.
