Pacific - Small surf to start the week, chest to head high at the southern beachbreaks, a foot smaller up north. Picking up a foot Wednesday, and then Thursday bumping up to 1-2 foot overhead from a sizable SSW swell set to hit midday. Friday it maxes at 2-3 foot overhead at top spots, a foot overhead at the point breaks. By Saturday it fades a foot by sundown and shrinks to overhead Sunday and chest to head high next Monday.

Caribbean - The swell season for the Caribbean is fading fast as the waves drop down to waist high with a few chest high sets each hour for Monday. By Tuesday, waist high at best. Wednesday will be waist to chest from a small NNE swell. By Friday it's down to knee to waist high, with a rare long period chest high set. Saturday, just knee high.

AREA REPORTS (sent in on 4/14 or posted)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The dropping swell and light off shores have brought some good head high conditions for the last few days. The wind has been switching just before high tide leaving out going a little sloppy.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): These conditions are perfect for Playa Grande, however the wind will become more of an issue as we move into afternoon high tides.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's pretty much focusing in out front and the crowds have been light and spread out.

** From Keith at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo - (4/11)

Today we went to witch's rock and ollie's point. The wind was never perfect, but both places were very fun anyway. the waves were amywhere from chest high to a decent amount overhead. very fun stuff. I also heard that playa negra was very fun, with overhead barrels.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The waves have been small with waisthigh to the occasional shoulder high set. Partly cloudy skies with a bit of rain here and there.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Expect more small surf with the bit of a NW bump in the beginning of the week. More rain as we head into the rainy season.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: With the extreme low tides running through the mornings this week, take the longboard and head to Avellanas.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: You can see what the surf looks like right now at Playa Negra. www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Jesse at the Samara Surf School -

Good surf in playa samara these days.. perfect for intermediate to advanced.. Great chance to surf bigger waves with an easy paddle out....
Best times are right after rain storms, the most beautiful glass around!
See you surfing.

FOUND WAIST,CHEST-HEAD HIGH {INCONSISTENT}.CLEAN,GOOD SHAPE AND A LITTLE OVER-LINEDED UP .-------ANY QUESTION CONCERNING COSTA RICA REAL ESTATE IS A GOOD ONE. CONTACT DAVID MCNEILL . 506-374-8435

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The waves have sized down after the great swell we had. We now have shoulder high, peaky waves that are great at everything but dead low tide.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): The weather appears to be full-on rainy season, but this often happens for a month or so before we get the on-again-off-again rains of June and July. The waves look like there going to lie low until Wednesday. Then it looks as if there might be our first swell from the south.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Anywhere from Roca Verde to the river mouth. Small waves don't seem to work to well north of the river.
