NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - It's a dream week as the surf slowly builds Monday from head high to 1 foot overhead by dark with a 12 second period. Then on Tuesday a SSW arrives with 2 foot overhead sets and a 14-15 second period. Swell maxes on Wednesday, but the sets stick around Thursday, too. On Friday it drops noticeable down to overhead conditions and by Saturday it's back to head high, with a couple of bigger sets. No major swell expected for the next week after, so get on it now!

Caribbean - A short period ENE swell brings chest high surf for Monday but fades Tuesday down to waist high with a few bigger sets. Wednesday it stays small at waist high, and the conditions stay the same through to the weekend with no tropical systems expected to form.

AREA REPORTS (sent in on 9/23 or posted)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: In spite of the constant overhead swell and brilliant weather, the surf has been tticky at best - mostly because of the afternoon high tide and lack of consistent off shores.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Friday the off shores almost held and Sat. looks even better. Don't worry about swell. The wave size is perfect for an off shore day.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: We've been ducking down into the bay toward Tamarindo for smoother conditions.

** From Ed at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

Well we surfed at Avellanas this morning/afternoon and it went so so, water was dark and some on shore wind, but still there were some long shoulders. I heard the right here in front of our camp the waves were closing out, that is typical for this time of the year. Some of our students went to Roca Bruja and Ollie's point and they say that Roca Bruja was not so good, but Ollie's was perfect, good for them...Pura Vida, Ed

** From Jesse at the Samara Surf School -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: beautiful waves coming. Probably up to 6 feet on some sets.
glassy conditions in between rain storms.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): waves may back off, as the new moon has passed. With it being rainy season mostly choppy condtiones, but with all the luck we've been having. Great glassy sesh's! Perfect wave conditions!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: as always, right infront of Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel, closer off shore, and no crowd

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales:
New and upcoming events: Samara is starting a recycle program now, benefitting the beach and the local school children. also: Festival de Sabores

** From Chuck at Walking on Water Surf Shop in Jaco -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: UNREAL head high almost perfect Jaco , barrels and clean peaks abound , those that were out there know what I mean it was so good ¡ Conditions are just right for here 2 swells so when they set-up together its just fantastic . Have to wait up to 15 minutes for the right ones but its worth it ! Darrel Parks is here right now with a few boards for Diego and Juan Carlos Naranjo and a few for the shop and they are going real well , Juan Carlos is blowing up on his new 6'0" for sure ! Itas good to have him here and he has found a pretty good dolution to the blank dilemna with some great new foam so lets get them in the water ! ** From Andrea at Waves CR Surf Camp in Playa Hermosa -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: For this week end the swell droped down a lot, but the conditions cannot be better...holding the glassy -side shore winds all day.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Smaller waves than the past few days..but super fun, good conditions for Hermosa and surounding beachbreaks.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Beach breaks...

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Small peaky waves have been gracing the shores of Domincal for a few days now. The last swell was sort of a fake and never really materialized so it has been more than just a few days.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Looks like more of the same through Wednesday of next week when it should kick up with a western swell.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: The beach at mid-tide. And the tide is perfect for a morning and evening session.
