NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Surf overhead to 2 foot overhead all weekend, with a large
SW swell arriving at dusk on Sunday putting surf 2-4 foot overhead
with a 15 second period for a high tide dawn patrol. Only stays a
day, dropping back to 1-2 foot overhead Tuesday, and down to
overhead by Wednesday evening. Stays head high to overhead from
Thursday until next Sunday, swell from the SW with a 10 second
period. Expect another SSW pulse to push surf to 2-3 foot overhead
by next Monday afternoon - 4th of July.

Caribbean - Waves knee to waist high over the weekend and into next
week. By Tuesday afternoon some chest high peaks arrive once every
30 minutes, and by Wednesday it gets more consistent. Doesn't last
past the day with Thursday showing more waist high waves, continuing
that way through the weekend. Potential tropical storm crossing the
isthmus next weekend, bring surf a week from Tuesday.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The head high plus swell calmed down on Thurs. and although still a
little messy, it's very rideable. We're still having lots of rain
mixed in with the sunshine, but it is usually the kind that glasses
it off.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):
The tides are getting right for dawn patrol and I'm hoping for some
glassy quality.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
The swell is focusing in on this end of the bay but there are good
waves, however inconsistent, everywhere.

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

The week started out with a nice south swell, but it has tapered off
now and we're waiting for the next one. Waves right now are about
waist high at the high tides and great for longboarding. It hasn't
rained that much this week and even though the wind isn't off-shore
very often, it's been fine for surfing anyway.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):

Another south swell is supposed to show on Sunday or Monday, so
we'll see what happens. No matter what, sunset sessions are certain
barring any late afternoon thunderstorms (always possible). Otro

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a

Even though Tamarindo is small, Langosta has got waves on the
dropping tide! Aunque Tamarindo no tiene mucho, Langosta tiene olas
bueanas cuando la marea empieze a secar.

** From Mike at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS –
Early this week the surf has been in the waist to chest high range
in Northern Costa. Once again this weekend is sending us more S-SW
swell. The surf at Tamarindo Rivermouth has seen clean conditions
every morning and late in the evening. By Friday the 24th, this
swell is expected to drop to its lowest point: chest to shoulder
high with some occasional pulses. Then, things get interesting for
the weekend. It will probably be raining on and off all day,
throughout the weekend. The rain is keeping the wind light in the
morning and in the early evenings. However, during the rain, the
wind can kick up and cause the surf to appear choppy. Just hang out
on the beach for awhile and let it pass because the surf is gonna be
kickin' when it is done.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) –
Saturday the 25th, more so on Sunday the 26th, some decent SW swell
is due. The first swell system is moderate and is due on Saturday
the 25th. The second is bigger, due on the 26th, yet some of its
early swells are due on the 25th as well, holding long, 18-second
periods when they trickle in. With this in mind, we're expecting
Saturday the 25th to see head high SW sets with occasional sets
going a few feet overhead. By late afternoon or evening, however,
when the tide is right, some sets could reach near double overhead;
although, these sets will be rare until Sunday. The swell will level
out at a 10-12 feet on Monday and start dropping off next Tuesday
and Wednesday. The surf should be in the head high range all weekend
long with the swell reaching its peak Sunday evening. The wind could
be hit or miss, but, as always, the wind is tough to call.
Nevertheless, it looks as though we will have offshore/side shore
conditions Saturday and Sunday and early next week.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA –
All the beaches in Northern Costa Rica should have epic surf with
glassy conditions in the morning. If the wind treats us right we
should have building surf all weekend long. Look for Tamarindo,
Avellanas, Witch's Rock, Ollies Point, Playa Negra, Play Grande, and
Nosara to all have glassy surf in the head high plus range. All the
breaks should have some fun waves to be had. Nevertheless, this
almost direct south swell should peak on Monday.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-
Witch's Rock Surf Camp is very proud to announce that we are now
offering a 5-day surf package that includes a trip to Witch's Rock
and Ollies. So check out our updated website frequently. So stop by
for a draft beer and an epic sunset at our little surf camp on the
beach.

** From Harry at Coconut Harry's in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

Hola surfers - it's Coconut Harry reporting from Playa Guiones
(Nosara). We got chest-headhigh waves - perfect form - glassy almost
all day with cloudy skies - some rain. Looks like bigger surf over
the weekend. Check my website for golf cart rentals now - what a
cool way to motor around the jungle! Contact me by phone #682-0574
or email: coconutharrys@... Pura Vida!

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -

Right now the conditions are the regular 3 foot mushy waves. Close
to shore, during lower tide great whitewater for beginners. After
the rains hit the conditions turn glassy with good shape. Justo
principiantes. Después de las lluvias las condiciones son
cristalinas y con buena forma.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Qué va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):

A swell is expected to be coming in if so nice 4 to 6 foot waves,
good shape and glassy conditions after rainstorms. Choppy when it is
windy.
tormentas. Malas olas cuando hay viento.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar para

The best surfing spot in Samara is right infront of the Las Brisas
Del Pacifico hotel. No crowds and a cleaner wave.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Southwest swell with a 13 second period arrives this
afternoon sending in 1-2 foot overhead surf. Stays the same size
through Monday. Then Tuesday the sets get farther apart and by
Wednesday it's back down to overhead, Thursday it's head high. It
will stay smaller - headhigh to overhead through next Sunday, but by
Monday a powerful south swell will begin to push in some 2 foot
overhead sets and get stronger next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Caribbean - Just a few more days of flatness before a tropical front
brings surf waist high Tuesday and grows to chest to head high for
Wednesday. Drops again Thursday down to waist to chest and
dissipates by the weekend. This may change based on the direction
the tropical front takes.

Really nicely shaped, head high waves are coming in from a bunch of
different directions. This makes the beach peaky and fun. Every once
in a while two waves stack up and you can get a couple of feet
overhead, but just about no one is outside waiting for them because
they are so infrequent. The shoulders of these doubles are nice if
you happen to be at the right place at the right time. Don't try
high tide (usually the preferred tide) as the waves are too mushy.
It is best about 2 hours before or after. High tide today (Friday)
was at 10:30 am.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar

New Moon - June 6th

Low Tide: 1.73 ft at 11:43 am
High Tide: 8.07 ft at 5:55pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The right coast continues it's streak of overhead surf. A
1-2 foot overhead maxes out Saturday and drops off a foot Sunday,
still holding a 12 second period. By Monday it's down to head high
but on Tuesday a localized ground swell pegs the southern coastline
with some more 1-2 foot overhead sets every 15 minutes. This dies
off by Thursday, leaving head high to overhead clean lines and some
good dawn patrol sessions at the beachbreaks. Stays smaller until
next Sunday, when a SW arrives from the mid-Pacific pushing the surf
up to 2 feet overhead.

Caribbean - Surf will be in the flat to knee high range for the
weekend and all through next week. Be happy with a rare waist high
set once every hour. No relief in sight through to next weekend
unless a tropical storm suddenly appears off the coast - although
it's not expected to happen.

Florida on a great day in the afternoon with on shores.

plenty of swell.

We've had great waves here in Tamarindo all week--and an amazing
amount of rain to go with them! Even though the wind has been on-
shore, the swell has been able to hold its shape. Currents have been
strong and sets have been head high.
cabeza.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Dawn patrol can start this
weekend as well as sunset sessions when the weather permits. Waves
are predicted to hold out into next week so it's all good news! Sera

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: I don't think there are any
bad places to surf right now. All of Tamarindo from the Suizo to the
rivermouth has waves and Langosta is even better.

** From Mike at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -
AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS – Early this week the surf has been
extremely clean in Northern Costa. Once again this weekend is
sending us more S-SW swell. The surf at Tamarindo Rivermouth has
seen clean conditions every morning and late in the evening. This
weekend's swell is in the 6-9 foot range. Look for glassy conditions
before and after the rainstorms. It will probably be raining on and
off all day, throughout the weekend. The rain is keeping the wind
light in the morning and in the early evenings. However, during the
rain the wind can kick up and cause the surf to appear choppy. Just
hang out on the beach for awhile and let it pass cause the surf is
gonna be kickin' when it is done.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) – Look for plenty of
rain. It should be off and on all weekend. However the surf is just
going to be on this weekend. I love the rainy season, surf, rain,
and more surf. This has happened for three weekends in a row. We
have a fresh band of S-SW swell activity coming almost directly
south at 199 degrees. The swell will level out at a 6-9 feet on
Monday and start droping off next Tuesday. The surf should be in the
head high range all weekend long with the swell reaching it's peak
Sunday evening. The wind could be hit or miss, but as always the
wind is tough to call. However it looks like we will have
offshore/side shore conditions Saturday and Sunday.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA –
All the beaches in Northern Costa Rica should have epic surf with
glassy conditions in the morning. If the wind treats us right we
should have building surf all weekend long. Look for Tamarindo,
Avellanas, Witch's Rock, Ollies Point, Playa Negra, Play Grande, and
Nosara to all have glassy surf in the head high range. All the
breaks should have some fun waves to be had. Nevertheless, this
almost direct south swell should peak on Sunday.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS - Witch's Rock Surf Camp is very proud to
tell you that we will soon be offering online discounts on surf
packages. So check out our updated website frequently. We also now
have pitchers to go with our Imperial on tap, so stop by for a draft
beer and an epic sunset at our little surf camp on the beach.

Right before high tide, nice form waves 4 to 5 foot, glassy
conditions after rainstorm. Low tide, 8 foot closeouts on the
outside... Choppy with the rain.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Qué va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Swell to stick around for next
couple of days, 4 to 5 foot good form waves around high tide...
Great beginner conditions for learning around low tide.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar para

to close to the shore, less people.

Surf been headhigh and decent shape for days , boomer sets every
half hour and every afternoon with the fill tide you get a half hour
thats been better than the rest of the day ! Plenty of rain and
runoff but at least here don't worry about water quality, be a bit
careful of both the Quepos and Barranca rivermouths though. I see a
smaller trend for the first part of next week but the weekend looks
good for the beachbreak here with 2 hightides a day ! Need a high
quality rental and save the airline headaches LOOK NO FURTHER, it
doesnt get any better than what we have for rent , brandnew
surfbuilt boards for $120 a week and hassle free ! E-mail us at

** From Brice at Land Assurance Reforestation Services in Dominical -

Waves are 2 foot overhead, well from the south, and peaky. No one is
here surfing, the beach is empty. Ah, paradise. The tide is perfect
at 5:00 am but the wind has been ruining the afternoon sessions.
Plan on having your surfing day over by 8:00 am. or plan on some
sloppy, choppy waves in the afternoon.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Looks like more of the same but
shrinking down a bit by Sunday. The weather has been rainy and windy
starting at 9:00 am.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Too small for the point
(although we had a few good days a few days ago). The beach is where
you want to be. Either Hermosa or Dominical. At Dominical, put in at
the cell tower or a little to the south to avoid the river water
(dirty with the rain) and the north running current that starts at
Tortilla Flats. Stay at least 50 meters to the north or 50 meters to
the south of me if I'm out ;-)
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: There is some
sort of 4th of July event for the lifeguards coming up on the 3rd of
