High Tide - 9.65 ft at 5:41am
Low Tide- (-.4 ft) at 11:56 am

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Big tide change for Friday, and this weekend starts off
small. Chest high at best until Saturday right before dark, when some
head high sets start filing in. By Sunday, surf picks up to a foot
overhead from the SW and by Monday stays bigger, with a push from the
NW as well. Monday and Tuesday will have some great dawn patrol and
evening sessions, so get on it. Nothing big expected for later next
week or next weekend.

Caribbean - Waves from the ENE push in Saturday morning, chest to head
high at the beachbreaks and best in the afternoon. Sunday it drops
back down to waist high, but stays consistent with a few bigger sets
every half hour. This lasts through Wednesday with more swell on the way.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

After a flat week, a swell came in yesterday. Evening surf in
Tamarindo was shoulder high and Langosta was head high. This morning
it seems to have tapered off a bit and the wind was light on-shore
this morning. It's been a week of mixed winter and summer
conditions--some days clear, some days muggy.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): This will be a great weekend for morning
surf. Whether or not the swell holds, the recent shift in swell
direction has waves peeling all over the place.
partes.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's going to be a great
weekend where ever you go. Langosta seems to be getting the best surf
right now. Sera buena donde vaya. Langosta parece tener las olas
mejores en este momento.

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The chest to head high swell we've had running since Tuesday seems to
be finally waning as of Friday morning. Still fun Friday morning with
offshore winds and chest high waves. We're moving into the double
session cycle at Grande with at least the guarantee of offshore winds
for the morning session. The afternoon sessions are a bit more tenuous
with the winds, but the occasional rainstorms can make for some nice
late afternoon offshores.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves)- Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Diminishing swell but still lots of fun,
especially with two go outs.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The main peak at Grande and
just to the south.

** From Coconut Harry in Nosara -

Playa Guiones seeing head-high, clean surf now. Should be good for
several days. Happy Thanksgiving - vaya con Dios. Coconut Harry -

** From Karla at Green Iguana Surf Camp in Mal Pais (Playa Carmen) -

The report from Malpais, Santa
Teresa and Playa Carmen area: It has been small for the last week, but
there was some increase in the size yesterday afternoon. About
shoulder high on the biggest sets. The wind was not bad at all
yesterday and the afternoon session was glassy, and sunny. The extreme
high tide was making it a little mushy around mid afternoon, but it
got better towards sunset. The crowds are back though.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): A little rain here and there and the
size will increase a little but not much.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Santa Teresa at low tide and
anywhere else(Carmen, Teresa, etc.), at higher tide.

days and quite fun with the super high tide , 2-4 ft faces and semi
glassy. Light wind and just a bit of backwash at the sunset ! I think
I actually got a head high one at @ 4:15 ! Check out the new H.I.C.
models due to arrive next Fri. {if aduana does us right} ! We have the
best selection of new boards in Costa Rica and we don't even have any

Full Moon - November 8th

Low Tide - .79 ft. at 6:06 am
High Tide-8.07 ft at 12:21 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The swell tap has been turned off for the moment, surf
waist to chest high with only a few random head high freak sets, and
it stays that way over the weekend and until next Tuesday. Wednesday
the SW swell fills in another foot, and by Thursday some consistent
head high surf hits the better beachbreaks. Only drops a foot by next
weekend, but no big relief in sight.

Caribbean - The surf season is open for the right coast, consistent
waist to chest high surf from the NNE along the beaches for the
weekend, dropping back to just waist by Monday. The next push comes
from the ENE on Thursday morning, waves head high with one or two
overhead sets. It drops again next Friday, but stays fun going into
next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

Wave size and conditions: The surf is small, about waist high, but
today we're having our first burst of stiff dry off-shore wind! This
past week started out with a large westerly swell that brought waves
at least head high to Tamarindo and now it has passed.

What to expect this weekend: If today is an indicator, it will be a
weekend for longboarding. The small peeling waves and the perfect off-
shores should make mornings a dream.

Where to surf this weekend: I vote for the Tamarindo river mouth.
It's gets crowded, but the waves are plentiful even if they're small.
As the road dries out, the trip to Avellanas should also be well
worth the bumps.

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The swell is small--around chest high--but the offshores are creating
beautiful fun little peaks all up and down the beach. Long mid-
morning to early afternoon sessions.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): The waves will probably stay small but
the sun will be out and the offshores blowing, so it will be a fun
weekend for playing around in the surf.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The main peak at Grande.

** From Carlos of Roca Bruja Surf Tours in Playa del Coco -

Well looks like the swell is gone again, small 2-4 ft faces out front
but the 4 footers are every 1/2 hour , get a longboard and hunt up
some micro barrels they are out there ! I had a blast yesterday out
front from 9-11 with NO WIND ! I dont see anything on the way till
maybe Monday but that should be a decent bump anyways so come
surfing !

** From Guido at Hotel Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

It seems it`s going to be a calm weekend over here, waves are small,
way fast breaks at every set, and changing winds Anyway the weather
is great, tides are high a little past noon, ( 9 feet avg ) and
again, it gets better after monday, comming from south, with 2 - 5
feet occasionaly. Not much going on in the area, big volleyball fest
in Jaco, and good chances for surfing lessons.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Saturday calls for chest high surf, with head high sets
every 20 minutes. Sunday morning stays the same, but some 1 foot
overhead sets start appearing around noon, and get more consistent
through the afternoon. Monday and Tuesday will be the best, head high
to overhead. Wednesday it fades fast and it's back to chest to head
at the better beachbreaks through next weekend.

Caribbean - Since Saturday and Sunday will remain small, from knee to
waist high, Monday afternoon through Wednesday will be the best days
to surf. Waves from the NE will increase from knee high to chest high
by Tuesday morning and stay consistent all day with some head high
sets. By Thursday, it drops back to waist high with a few bigger high
sets until the weekend. Expect more to come as NE'ers push off the
U.S. coast.

The season is turning slowly into "summer". The sky is getting bluer
every day and the waves stay cleaner longer into the day. There's
been nice surf this week about chest high, head high in Langosta. La

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):

This weekend, it's dawn patrol. All the breaks in the area should be
great if you get up early and should clean up again in the late
afternoon.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a

JACO & HERMOSA

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf Shop in Jaco -

Small fun rideable longboard waves here in Jaco and weather looks
pretty good for the weekend and yep its payday here in Costa Rica so
the masses are heading down the mountain ! Crowds won't be bad
because we have miles and miles of deserted beachbreaks here in the
neighborhood just waiting to be surfed ! See Ya Soon ! Chuck !

** From Guido at Hotel Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

It looks like dry season has come earlier this year, this week only a
few showers at night very sunny humid days and very variable surfing
conditions. Waves are still coming from SSW, high tides early morning
and late afternoon (7 - 8 feet avg) raises a little move after Sunday
(SW) waist to head high. Very changing winds during weekend. It's a
matter of the right time at the right place. For Jaco and Hermosa is
better early morning or before high tides in the afternoon.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Saturday starts out chest to head high with a few bigger
sets coming from the SW. Sunday it picks up to a foot overhead and
the best time will be Sunday late afternoon. By Monday, the SSW swell
fades down to head high and by Tuesday afternoon, a longboard might
be needed as it drops to waist to chest. (a little bigger farther
south) Wednesday through next Friday look the same, with some
overhead relief arriving from the SW next Sunday.

Caribbean - Some residuals from a giant fetch in the Atlantic sneaks
under the Lesser Antilles and pushes in chest high surf at the beach
breaks with maybe a a head high sneaker every half hour. Swell quiets
down Sunday and by Monday it's back to waist high. Midweek stays
small, knee to occasional waist high. Conditions can change rapidly
as this is the prime month for hurricanes that begin below the
Yucatan peninsula.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

This has been a great week for morning surf. The incoming tide had a
little extra swell early in the week, about chest high. Morning off
shores lasted until mid morning. The sky turned bright summer blue
and the onshores were light. Then your surf reporter went to San Jose
where I am right now and am not certain what the current beach
conditions are.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Hard to say from inland, but if the
weather follows it's pattern, it will probably be gorgeous weather.
The mid-day tides may be somewhat blown out, but probably not too
much for nice longboard sessions.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Keep an eye on that
rivermouth. It seems to be shifting north and that's when it really
starts rolling.

** From Carrie from Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

Too low tide to surf Grande this morning, but there looks like
there's a decent size swell in the water, at least chest to head
high. Glassy morning conditions and maybe it will stay glassy, or go
offshore like it did Thursday for the afternoon session.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Sunny with some high clouds. Afternoon
sessions, and perhaps we're seeing the beginning of the dry season
weather with the promise of more consistent offshores.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Afternoon sessions at the main
peak at Grande, and perhaps a low tide morning session at the
Tamarindo Rivermouth.

** From Marco at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa -

** From Karla at Green Iguana for girls in Mal Pais -

Here in Malpais, Playa Carmen and Santa Teresa area the waves are
smaller this week, shoulder to head high on the bigger sets. Cleaner
than last week but smaller in size.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves)- Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): The weather has changed now and is nice
and sunny and we expect to see more sun during the weekend. Bring a
strong sunblock if you are coming to this area, especially if you are
going to be surfing at high tide since it is in the middle of the day
when the sun is stronger.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Carmen in the high tide and
Santa Teresa in the low tide.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Not much going
on except the usual soccer games on Sundays. For Spanish lessons in
Malpais email karla_malpais@.... Have a great weekend!

** From Guido at Hotel Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

This weekend Hermosa will get a little smaller but still fun, the
waves are coming from south ranging between 3-6 on Fri - Sat - and
2-5 the next week. Head - Shoulder high and better in the afternoon
(4 - 5 pm) after high tide. It gets windier at noon, just before high
tide. Best breaks are Tulin, Sector2, La Curva at the southern end of
Playa Hermosa and Jacó in high tide. The weather has been very good,
sunny mornings and a few showers late in the afternoon and at night.

** From Tommy at Rancho Coral in Esterillos -
