TIDES *for Friday
(add 50 min. each day after)

Full Moon - October 10th

Low Tide -(-.23) ft at 8:42 am
High Tide - 9.33 ft. at 2:56 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The SSW swell has arrived bringing surf overhead to 2-3'
overhead on the sets by Sunday morning. Up north the surf will be a
foot smaller. The wave period lengthens to 13 seconds Monday and
Tuesday, and those days will be the best for a sunset session.
Wednesday the swell fades un poco down to head high, and by Thursday
afternoon, the overhead sets only appear every 15 to 20 minutes. Next
weekend looks small, chest high, and nothing hitting until the
following Wednesday from the SSW.

Caribbean - The flat spell is almost over. On Tuesday afternoon,
waves will increase from knee high to waist high with a few chest
high sets and Wednesday morning looks best for finding chest high
surf. Thursday the swell fades all day and by Friday it's back to
knee to waist. Be aware that conditions change dramatically with the
presence of tropical storms so watch for updates.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Waves 1-2 foot overhead are coming from the SW and will

nice dawn patrol as well. Tuesday morning will see a decrease in size
by a foot and another two foot drop by Wednesday, down to chest to
head high by the afternoon. Stays small until next Sunday, when a big
south starts filling in the coast with waves overhead and growing
bigger all through the following week.

Caribbean - Still no surf predicted for the Caribbean coast, Sunday
will see a few knee high sets but it won't get much bigger throughout
the week.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the PuraMar surf teacher in Tamarindo -

Wave heights and conditions: The swell that came in during the
weekend gave us about two days of excitement. Waves now range from
waist to shoulder high, coming in from the south/southwest. The on-
shore switch is coming pretty early in the mornings now. Afternoon
rains have been consistent and rather heavy for the last week,
cooling off the steamy afternoons and sometimes turning the wind
around.

What to expect this weekend: This weekend, expect beautiful morning
and rainy afternoons. Getting up early will be the best stragegy for
getting good surf. Think twice about surfing too soon after heavy
rains, as this is a common cause of ear infections and other
unpleasantries.

Best place to surf this weekend: With the south/southwest pulse,
Avellanas should be good. There has been some road work, so it may
even be passable! The rivermouth in Tamarindo around mid-tide is
looking nice and of course as long as the waves come from the south,
Grande is a good choice.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the PuraMar surf teacher in Tamarindo -

WAVE SIZE/CONDITIONS: The swell we had going last week has passed and
the one rumored to be on the way has yet to arrive. The mornings have
been gorgeous and even off-shore, but the tide is out, so not much
surf in Tamarindo then. By the time it fills in, it's pretty sloppy
due to the wind change, but by sunset it's starting to mellow out and
a longboard and find some nice rides at the rivermouth. Wave size is
our average waist to chest.

WHAT TO EXEPECT THIS WEEKEND:Another south swell is rumored to be on
the way, and that could change everything for the weekend. Very very
early morning surf could come up and late afternoons will be as good
as the wind allows. Afternoon storm systems often switch the wind
back off-shore in their wake, so there's a lot to be hopeful about.

WHERE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND: The Tamarindo river mouth is looking
interesting these days. I would keep an eye on that. If the south
swell comes in without too much south wind, Grande would be the
definate pick.

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Right now it is lightly raining
and the winds are blowing onshore and the current is pushing hard to
the north. The waves are about 3-5 feet, conditions are choppy and
windblown with no shape.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - There is supposed
to be a 10 foot swell pushing north for Friday and Saturday and then
it is going to die by Sunday to 4ft.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA- Tomorrow, I am heading
to Cabo Matapalo for the weekend to try and catch it. In this area,
it might be working at The Point this weekend.

(add 50 min. each day after)

Full Moon - September 10th

High Tide -8.24 ft. at 9:34 am
Low Tide - 1.31 ft at 3:55 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - For the weekend expect surf from chest high to head high
and most south facing beaches, with an overhead set popping up every
20 minutes from a fading S swell. Sunday afternoon it drops a foot,
and by Monday it's back to chest high at best, but super clean
conditions. The next swell is from the south, pushing waves up to a
foot overhead in the southern and central zones Tuesday afternoon,
and filling the rest of the coast by Wednesday. Size will vary on the
tide and day, from chest high to overhead until next weekend. No
macking swells, but clean consistent chest to head high surf for the
following week.

Caribbean - It's quiet on the beaches, only knee high with a few
waist high sets. Monday evening will show a one foot increase and
size, so surf will have one or two stomach high sets on Tuesday
morning, but it drops fast and stays small (knee high or less) until
next weekend. Some hope is on the horizon by the following Monday.

What to expect this weekend: Looks like a great weekend for morning
surf in Tamarindo. The tide will be coming in the mid-late morning
when the wind is good, so we'll be able to surf from sunup until the
wind switches.

Where to surf this weekend: The Tamarindo rivermouth should be a good
place in the mornings and I expect that Avellanas will be worth the
bumpy ride as well.

11:34 pm. Domingo 7: 12:00 pm

DOMINICAL & OSA

**From Steph at green Iguana Surf Camp in Dominical -

Waves are about 4 foot. Blowing hard offshore this morning. Around
high tide, winds died and there were nice glassy peaks. This evening,
low tide, there were some fun barrels.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - I think that the
size will stay the same for the next week. It should be fun when the
tide is coming in, as well as at low tide.
