AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)
(1) Best Western, Tamarindo Vista Villas AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy): Wave heights have been in the 3 to 5 range, with a new south coming in on Wed. Wave heights should hold to overhead and decline on Sunday. Conditions are glassy in the am as the offshores are blowing 10 - 25 knots. Early afternoon winds switching to onshore bringing in flatten surf from the sw swell. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Rain made it's way to T Bay on Sunday so expect south swell on all south or west facing beaches to remain 4-6 thru Saturday then going down until Wed of the following week. Weather could show some rain thru the weekend with on shore winds. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Ollies and Witch's are picking up the slight south swell with clean conditons early morning. Playa Negra is holding with 4 + throughout the weekend. Tides on Wed in T bay around noon for high. One of the Highest tides of the year - 16th/17th of April. Let's hope for swell... NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: It's a "endless summer" party at Vista Villas this Saturday night with The rock & roll of the Leatherbacks and special guest appearance by Robert August. Early May - It's a Wingnut Party.. Stay tuned for details.......

(2) Nela from Hotel Las Tortugas, Playa Grande AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy): 4-6, offshore in the morning, clean with some closeouts WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): the swell is holding; the tide is moving into the afternoon so the wind will get really tricky BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Tamarindo River Mouth on the Playa Grande Side

JACO & HERMOSA (JH)
(4) Chuck, your friend at Surf Outfitters, Jaco AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy): small waves. only ridable on incoming tides. pretty poor. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): potential for southern swell. Realm contest for May 15-16th?

DOMINICAL (D)
(7) Ed.'s house, Casa del Mar, Dominical - saw a big incresae in swell Thursday from a big tide shift to high mixed with the faint beginnings of a nice swell pattern. It appears a strong SW off New Zealand with smaller fronts will create a long fetch to send up surf from the south. Today it jumped from a weak waist high to some over head sets after a small rain shower that brouht offshore winds. I expect to grow each day, until consistent 8-10+ foot (face) sets come by Monday and stay until next weekend. Full Moon Party with Pollo Asado, Friday - April 30th, with 2 DJs - Reggae and Dance Music at Paco's Pool Bar, Hotel Rio Lindo

CARRIBEAN (C)
No report, but the editor's guess is waist to head surf for the beach breaks from Sat. until Mon.. Small Salsa for the weekend.
