Overview -

Caribbean Coast - Non-existent waves for most of the week. Wednesday may see a few ENE waist high sets, but nothing past Thursday morning.

Pacific Coast - The chest to head high surf continues for the first part of the week. A SW swell with a 18 second period arrives Thursday in the Guanacaste region, and fills in the rest of the coast by Friday morning, pushing surf well overhead on the sets. This swell lasts through the weekend and fades next Monday, leaving only a short wait before another SSW swell arrives the following Thursday.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (4/26)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Offshore, head high, and morning tides.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): Small good surf all morning.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: The focus of this swell is at the main peak just south of the hotel.

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (4/26)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf at Playa Negra has been in that fun zone chest to head high with good shape. Sunny and very hot these last few days with air temps hoving at 100 degrees and the water temp is 84 degrees. Light offshores continue in the mornings and onshore for the afternoons. That onshore wind dies about an hour before sunset and the waves have been fun for the evening glass off. The swell will pick up a bit in the next few days peaking on Monday with headhigh plus from the SW. It will back slide a bit for the middle of the week and then pick up significantly for the end of the week and the beginning of the month. The tides are perfect this upcoming week for the early morning session before the hoard gets out there.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: See daily pics at www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com .

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones (4/26) -

We've got small surf here again today. This is about as small as we seem to ever see, but if you wait for the sets, there are some punchy little zippers. Pio got a couple of good ones while I was shooting and you can see from his pictures that you could get some speed if you did things right. The wind is light at report time and the tide is fairly full. We'll see what the wind does today. It shifted yesterday around 8am, but stayed light enough to not mess anything up until about 9:30. Another day another wave. Grab your board and go have fun.
