AREA REPORTS (sent in on 2/4)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The swell has been running waist to shoulder high with good shape in both the morning and evening up until Weds. when the off shores backed off in the afternoon..
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): We should have decent conditions for small waves, at least with the morning high tides. Don't count on the afternoon session with the fluky wind conditions.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: The main focus of this swell is at the main peak just south of the hotel with some excellent sessions earlier in the week at the north end of the bay around chicken head rock.

** John Lyman Photos from Playa Negra at lymanphoto@... -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf has been very small and gutless the last few days. Strange weather too for this time of year. Black overcase skies with drizzle and onshore wind all day.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Well let´s hope this weird weather turns into sunny skies with offshores like we are suppose to have this time of year. A bump from the southwest will help keep things in the fun range for the middle of this upcoming week and then some healthy peaks by the weekend.
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: Playa Negra will be the focus of this upcoming bump. Look for the tide to be incoming through the mornings this week. You know what that means for Playa Negra.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: I have 3 of each calendar left. They could be your if you act now. Hurry. Time is running out. E-mail at lymanphoto@...

** From Coconut Harry's Surf Shop in Playa Nosara -

It's waist to chest - occasional bigger peaks sneaking in. Pura Vida from Coconut Harry

** From John at Samara Surf School -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The samara waves are back to their normal size. Some killer 2 to 3 foot waves are rolling in. Perfect for the beginner and intermediate surfers to tune up their skills. The water is warm, so come over for a dip. Believe it or not we've been experiencing afternoon rain showers, , but not too much wind so not a lot of chop.
WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): The next swell expected to hit is around the full moon time, so not too much over the weekend..
BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: The best surfing spot in Samara is right in front of the Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel. No crowds or localism, with the waves breaking a little farther off shore.
NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: If you've always wanted to learn surfing come on down or over! Always great whitewater for beginner lessons! When there is no swell it's a great time to volunteer at our local turtle sanctuary, located in Playa Buena Vista. Another option is helping out at the after school program at the "Intercultura Language school". For more info contact us. 656-0055 Pura Vida

** From Andrea at WavesCR Surf Camp and Instruction in Hermosa -

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): Not much, the swell is not going to pick up for the next few days.
