Audrey Tantamjarik, a grad student at University of Hawaii has
recently completed her thesis on sustainable surf tourism in Costa
Rica. Check out her work at - mysite.verizon.net/res8eoiu/index.html

Have you ever camped out in a large open cave up in the mountains
with two waterfalls enhancing the view out to the Pacific ocean? The
next morning you can rapel down part of a 600 foot waterfall, just an
hour from Dominical. The gentleman who owns the site brings community
groups and church groups up on excursions, and is trying to preserve
the nearby jungle. Check this site - TREE of LIFE TOURS or email

stay.

TIDES *for Friday
(add 50 min. each day after)

New Moon - May 18th

Low Tide: 1.21 ft at 10:05 am
High Tide: 8.67 ft at 4:20 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Lots of stormy weather make finding glassy conditions
tough. However, by Monday the storms will pass and high tide will be
in the right frame for double dawn and dusk sessions. Surf size - 1-2
foot overhead this weekend, dropping down to overhead Monday and
chest to head high Tuesday. The next SSW pulse shows Thursday morning
and fills in Friday with more waves in the 1-2 foot overhead range.
Will drop back to head high by next Saturday, with nothing major for
a few days afterward.

Caribbean - Flatness has returned to paradise. Don't expect anything
over knee high all week. Time to hit the Pacific!

** From Green Iguana Surf Camp in Dominical -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The waves are still pretty sizey,
and thumping, late afternoon sessions better, a bit more water is
better. also, steer clear of the floatees in the water....logs,
cocos, and branches have been floating around since the temporal
started. and clean out those ears after surfing!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - It appears that
after a few days, the swell starts to come down, however, in the
meantime, try to dodge those sets! And, expect rain. Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):parece que despues de un par de
dias, el oleaje empieza a bajar. sin embargo, cuidado con los sets!
y, espere lluvia...

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - The beach in the
afternoons, maybe the point. El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de
semana en su area: la playa en las tardes, tal vez la punta.
