AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -
A hefty West started showing yesterday. Thursday was well over head and
good
form in spite of the fluky wind. The sand bars are almost as good as
they get
resulting in a lot of quality surf. The crowds are staying in Tamarindo
where
the brunt of this swell is hitting and we are getting some very nice
shape,
even though it's a little smaller. The afternoon glass off Wed.
afternoon was a
rush with hardly anyone out. Tamano de las olas y condiciones:

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este

** From Greg at the Adventure Education Center in Dominical-

Got to surf a mid afternoon session with only a light wind and right

some
sneaker overhead sets that closed out a little early. Still a lot of
fun.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
NW swell won't be that strong, but noticable, producing some long rides
at the
more defined sandbars. Best early Sunday morning, if it's dry.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The weekend holds overhead sets for the beachbreak masses and
competitors in Jaco, with the standard waist to chest in between. Best
times
will be midmorning. Next week surf weakens into Tuesday, with those
bigger sets
disappearing but surf cleaning up. Wednesday another SSW swells sends a
few
pulses but nothing big. And with some nudging, the NW hitting
California will
hit the Guanacaste coast by Saturday with some overhead sets.

Caribbean - Dropping wind swells from head high + for Saturday, down to
chest
high by Monday and waist high by Tueday. Nothing in the forecast for
the
midweek, just waist high and clean. Then on Thursday, another E swell
shows up
with some bigger sets, setting up a nice head high weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diane at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

I was out of town until today, so this report is only for Thursday.
There is
certainly some swell out there and the rivermouth is a popular place
right now.
High tide waves were easy chest high, but grew in size and speed as the
tide
dropped. The wind was light offshore at dawn and continued to pick up
speed all
morning.
manana.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
The swell will hopefully be around a little longer, and the morning
conditions
are perfect. Expect a lot of sun, a lot of wind and waves all over the
place.
lados.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:
The rivermouth may be crowded, but that's because it's so great. The
beach by
the lifeguard stand is good, Pico Pequeno has been great. If the crowds
get to
you in Tamarindo, sneak off toward Playa Grande. La boca del rio puede
tener

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The surf has been running overhead and a half to double overhead here
at the
main break. The wind is combing them out in the morning during the
incoming and
outgoing tide. Some of the sets are bumpy or squared off and a few sets
are
perfect so you have to pick em. The good waves are obvious and since
the swell
is coming out of the West and hitting full force out front, there
aren't any
scary sneaker sets and adequate lulls between the sets. The paddle out
channels
are working well and I haven't seen many broken boards. On the good
sets it
could easily be Puerto Escondido without the fear factor. Yesterday I
watched a
five second, stand up, dry tube ride through the hole.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
Everything is lined up for great surf with the morning tides, off
shores, and
mellowing, cleaning swell.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -
We've been going down to the Tamarindo River mouth, just three minutes
away, on
the Playa Grande service road for low incoming tides, and everybody
along Playa
Grande and Tamarindo is reporting good waves at some tide.

** From Marco at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa -

pies. El
viento es sur. Estamo esperando olas mas grandes.

JACO & HERMOSA

** From Tommy at Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

Local Climate: Sunny, Air Temp: 95f, Water Temp: 85f, Wave Height &
Direction:
WSW 4-6 ft. (back of the wave) Wind: South, 0-5 mph It is going off.
All the
Southwest spots are on. Pretty big weekend crowds. Surf Contest Finals
in Jaco.

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -

comenzar a
llover.
ustedes no

lado, a

DOMINICAL & SOUTHERN PACIFIC

** From Greg at the Adventure Education Center in Dominical-

Surf is well overhead, but mostly closeouts until high tide. Mostly
sunny with
light offshore morning winds.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
The beachbreaks will be big, guaranteed. Maybe time to check out some
point
breaks up north.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:
Around high tide will be best, mid morning.

Caribbean - Surf is up on the right coast, waist to chest high with
some head
high plus sets all weekend and into next Monday. Weather has not been
great

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diane at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

A north swell came in this week, breaking head high and bigger at the
rivermouth and in front of the lifeguard stand at low tide. The winds
have been
viscious off-shore which usually doesn't happen until later in the
summer. Now
the swell is diminishing a bit, but midtide at the rivermouth is still
head
high.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
Expect a windy weekend! A lot of the swell in the ocean is being held
out of
the bay by the wind, but as the tide shifts to sunrise, early morning
should be
gorgeous.
amanecer,
las mananas estaran lindisimas.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:
The Tamarindo rivermouth is the best place to be but expect a crowd.
Avellanas
is a good pick as well.
mucha gente. Avellanas tambien es buena.

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

We've been having solid shoulder to head high waves the last few days.
The
offshores created some all time sessions! The wind was a bit funkier on
Thursday, with some sideshores, but the waves were still very much fun!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):
The swell looks like it's still in the water, so more of the same,
hopefully!
And now we're moving into early morning high tides, making for
doublesessions.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear

Everywhere around here! Playa Grande's been happening, as well as the
Tamarindo
Rivermouth, and points in between!

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -
If nobody has been surfing since this last Sunday, YOU BLEW IT.
Tamarindo
Rivermouth, all time conditions, perfect offshore winds w/overhead surf
for
4days straight. This is the best I've seen it in 2 years.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -
Today, as I stare at the surf, I see the isn't dropping. Basically, its
staying
head-high + day after day.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -
