Caribbean - Expect wind swell to start arriving Sunday and continue with overhead surf through next Thursday. Call Mel Baker at A.T.E.C. for conditions at Salsa Brava and check in Cabinas Casa Verde in Puerto Viejo (tell em Greg sent ya)

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

(1) From Patti at Best Western Vista Villas in Tamarindo - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Late Friday shoulderhigh surf should be coming in at WSW breaks. Conditions - wind - offshore with sometimes heavy gusts blowing back the surf. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): A slight increase of WSW swell bringing in by Sat some headhigh surf. Heavy offshore winds, should break off a little over the weekend. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Playa Grande is picking up the slight swell push and the conditions are good. Play Avellannes may pick up Sat for "Dawn Patrol" NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: New custom design Robert August rental boards soon to be available at the Surfpati Connection in Tamarindo....

(2) From Louis at Las Tortugas at Playa Grande - The surf has been small for the last few days. On Weds it picked up a little to waist to shoulder high and the wind stayed off shore all day. The tides this week are in the morning and the sandbars are in good shape should the swell pick up. Keep an eye on the bar in front of the hotel unless it gets big.

(3) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS: A slight SW pulse earlier in the week gave us a couple of days of fun head high surf. This has now disappeared, the surf dropping to waist high dribblers by yesterday evening. At least it's clean. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: It doesn't get much smaller than this here - so I would expect a little more swell for the w/e. BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA: Playa Carmen, a.m., on the incoming tide is the best bet. Teresa's for the p.m. glass off.

JACO & HERMOSA (JH)

(4) From Chuck at Chosita del Surf in Jaco: Surf today thurs.
knee high - botttom of your baggies , super glassy light offshore and soon
to disappear with the high tide ! Dont see much coming for the weekend
either ! Frank Mora is trying to do a contest in Jaco this weekend but "la
chosita del surf " team wont be there ! Dont go , no waves , NO SOUL ! plan
for the contest at Terrazas the 22nd instead ! Back those that truly back
the surfers of costa rica , let the rest fall off the wayside ! Watch for
the upcoming association of amateur surfing incentral pacific , news @ the
terraza contest ! SEE YA Chuck

(5) From Tommy at Hotel Fuego del Sol in Hermosa - There is a small SW swell with 2-3' (backs) surf along Playa Hermosa. The best bet is the Tulin rivermouth (where it is a foot or two bigger)

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)

From Alacran Tours in Manuel Antonio - NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: The annual Festival del Mar in Quepos is coming up, starting the week of the Feb. 15th. We will be hosting a local surf tournament on the 19th and 20th for those interested. Prizes (and perhaps money) will be awarded to the top finishers. More to come of that in the following weeks. . .

From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio - ¿Hay alguna noticia o evento venidero ? Si, este viernes comienza una super bonita fiesta en Quepos, en donde habra comidas típicas, juegos mecanicos, monta de toros, etc. Los esperamos!.

DOMINICAL & SOUTHERN PACIFIC (D)
(6) From Sean and Jimmy at Vida Verde Land Management - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: 4-6ft glassy WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Waves - guess about the same thru the weekend; Weather - looks like we are coming out of the rain so expect that warm sun BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: since it kind of small the best place will most likely be the most exposed dominical and playa hermosa to the south, Jaco - hermosa NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Come check out music by the river at Jazzy´s river house every wed.and sat. evening. Located just behind gingo mikes in Dominical. Stop by and see whats happening with Vida Verde Land management and sales located in front of Thrusters.
