Low Tide - 1.87 ft at 2:46 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Small surf on the coast will continue until
Saturday afternoon when the first 14 second pulse of a WNW
swell appears. The size will increase from chest high to
head high on Sunday, with a couple of bigger sets. Monday
will show a little more size (another foot) and by Tuesday
waves will max out at a foot overhead with a 12 second
period. Wednesday the surf starts to drop and switch around
again from the SW.

Caribbean - The beginning of winter in the U.S. is good
news for this coast as the NE'ers that go off the coast
push in nice swells towards Salsa Brava. On Saturday the
surf will remain in the waist to chest high range, but by
Sunday will drop a little. No other storms or swells are
showing up until the next report.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

1) From Carmencita at Hotel Las Tortugas -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

We've had a good size swell running the last few days with
offshore winds making for lots of fun. Today the wind died
a bit in the afternoon, and with high tide in the afternoon
we don't get the full offshores on the swell as we'd like.
Nevertheless, the surf's been great, though a bit crowded!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

With high tide still too early for a morning session over
the weekend, we're left with hoping the offshores continue
through the afternoon hours. The main peak at Grande seems
to be the spot as of late, so expect the crowds to be even
worse over the weekend.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

Check out the Tamarindo Rivermouth for early incoming tide
sessions. Then head back to the main peak at Grande for the
afternoon session, or better yet, spread out and find your
own peak to the north or south!

2) From Diana at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

We've been walking, hitch hiking and driving out of town
this week because our Tamarindo waves have been tiny -
waist high at best. Winds have been great and Langosta has
had some fun shoulder high waves on the mid incoming tide.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

We can only expect the waves to get bigger and today
(Thurs) seems to be an improvement over yesterday. Solo

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

Best places in town will be Langosta and hopefully our
rivermouth. Avellanas should be fun and a walk to Playa
Grande will definately be worth the hike!

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales:

Happy Thanksgiving! Feliz Dia de Accion de Gracias!

3) From John at Pura Vida Tours in Playa Grande -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

Waves have been small and fun for most of the week. It has
been 2-3 feet with offshore winds. We've also had some NNW
sets hitting.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

This weekend looks to be fun with a NNW swell hitting and
look for the offshores to continue.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

There is a contest this weekend in Playa Negra. It looks to
be real fun with 3-4 swell.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales:

and pool only 100 yards from the beach! Playa Grande's best
deal!

4) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (Mal
Pais)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS:

Summer at last is here with offshores and blue water. Swell
has been up and down ranging from chest high to overhead
sets on the incoming tide. Top conditions with peeling head
high sets yesterday p.m.. SW with some W mixed in.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND:

More of the same with more swell by Sunday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA:

Expect all beachbreaks to be fun. Sta Teresa best spot in
the a.m., Carmen in the p.m.

JACO & HERMOSA

5) Tommy at Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

fun chest high waves at Bejuco. Esterillos will be better

SWELL DIRECTION -- DIRECIÓN DEL SWELL

Pacific - The SW swell will be fading out through the weekend. Expect smaller surf all next week, around head high or less in most areas by Monday. However, next Thursday morning will be the HIGHEST high tide of the year - at 10.6 feet. So that might generate an incoming tide push. The "dry season" is a time of the year when the best surf will be had four or five days after a full or new moon. See the tide chart above.
Caribbean - Hurricane Lenny stirred up some salsa in the Caribbean but the surf has since dropped off greatly. There will be a slight E swell, but nothing over head high.

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
(6) From Alacran Tours in Manuel Antonio - WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: This past week (or two), it has been a real batttle. Early morning sessions are the only savior...favorable winds and waist-shoulder high waves. In Playitas, sets hit shoulder high + but were plagued by mushy conditions. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): With a small swell expected for the weekend, we are expecting/hoping for a slight improvement in local conditions. Look for Playitas to reach head high in the morning. Scattered afternoon showers have affected the surf recently and we expect more of the same. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Best bet for this weekend will be Playitas at low tide rising. Also, for those looking for heavier sets, check out El Rey to the south or Bejuco to the north. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: All hotels/local businesses: Our new office is open (777-1721) and if you are interested in placing your brochures and/or any other information, please send anything to us by bus to the Quepos bus terminal w/ Atencion: ALACRAN SURF TOURS and call to let us know. IF not, you can send anything to our Aerocasillas PO Box in San Jose (ALACRAN SURF TOURS - SJO-3140).

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
(7) From Alacran Tours in Manuel Antonio - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: This last week we have had rather unfavorable conditions for surf in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area. Slight swell reached our beaches providing good shoulder hight lefts early in the week at Bajos in Manuel Antonio. Two days later beautiful early morning waves created by hard rain the night before and off-shore winds. Rights and lefts, should high in Playitas. Other than those two or three days or surf there hasn't been didly squat. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): We are praying for some surf night and day for this coming week and are expecting waist to shoulder high waves at best. The weather has been fairly rainy the past few days and we are expecting the rains to continue in the early to late afternoon. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: If the swell doesn't pick up too much the best place will be Playa el Rey which is located about 20 minutes south of Quepos. This is an exposed beach break that offers miles and miles of open lefts and rights. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Just waiting for the high season to kick in around Thanksgiving time!!! *Surf report provided by local gringo ripper Jota.

Then onshore but a nice peak from the SW for the midday high tide. The new moon brings stronger shifts. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Beachbreak UPCOMING EVENTS: Keep the beaches clean - Mantenga limpia la playa !!
