NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Sunday still has overhead surf plowing in, 1-2 foot
overhead on the sets, coming more from the west. Monday the swell
starts to fade, longer waits between sets, but still overhead.
Tuesday through Thursday look smaller, head high with an overhead
set every half hour, a foot bigger south of Jaco and north of
Tamarindo. Next swell returns Friday morning from the SW, bringing
more overhead sets. It looks like 1-2 foot overhead surf all next
week, too.

Caribbean - Small surf for the weekend, knee to waist high. Stays
the same for Monday, but with a rare chest high peak, and by Tuesday
it's waist to chest. Wednesday consistent chest to head high surf,
some bigger sets. Stays between chest to headhigh all the way
through to the weekend, with bigger surf showing for the weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop (& Surf Lessons) in Tamarindo -

The week began with the end of a great swell and is supposed to go
out with the begining of the next one. Waves today were waist to
chest at high tide. The off-shores are lasting until around 10 AM
only and the water is clear and warm.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Tomorrow is supposed to have more
swell coming from the south and fortunately the tide will be perfect
to surf while the wind is still off-shore. The air is heavy and
humit--feels like any day it could rain again.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Langosta should be great in
the mornings, the rivermouth in Tamarindo and Pico Grande. Langosta
Pico Grande.

** Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

Nice size swell all week in Playa Grande. Fortunately, high tide was
in the morning so we could get in a session before the onshore winds
blew in, usually messing things up by 10 am.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Signs of the new swell were
showing Friday afternoon and there should be lots of waves on tap
for the weekend. Get on it early before the onshore winds kick in
mid morning.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: There are great peaks all up
and down the beach at Playa Grande.

** From Coconut Harry in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

Hola from Playa Guiones (Nosara). Surf is consistent chest to
headhigh with occasional 1-2 ft overhead set waves - good shape!
Stop in my shop - get a free map of Nosara and the local breaks
close by. Pura Vida, Coconut Harry - call me at 682-0574 or email:
coconutharrys@...

** From Jesse at Samara Surf School in Samara -

Over the past week we have seen bigger-than-normal swells with 4-6'
faces on the inside break, however, the larger ones have been
closing out close to shore. Swell has been dropping, which will give
better shoulders and beginner conditions. Best time to catch it is 2
hours before high tide through 2 hours after.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Great weather as always here in
Samara, calm inside conditions, excellent for beginners, good sunset
sessions. Isla Chorra conditions: back side of the island promises
to be 6-8' on the right point. On the front side left, we have seen
4-6', really clean breaks.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Best place to surf in Samara
is in front of the Las Brisas del Pacifico hotel to keep away from
the crowds.. Isla Chorra should also be with its 6-8' faces.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Parties keep
rocking at Las Olas, Semana Santa should be pretty hectic.
ocupada.

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf Shop in Jaco -

Jaco Friday morning ! 3-4 ft and beautiful , tides are just right
and the direction is good for here with some clean fast walls . I
expectb that it will get bigger during the day and if both swells
come together early tomorrow could be all time ! Last Sunday eveing
in Jaco was well overhead and pretty much as good as it gets shape
wise and the sandbars are good right in front of the shop ! Crowds
werent a factor today but tommorow and all next week could be a few
surfers out there . Look forward to 'THE ETERNAL CROWN' contest
nexrt weekend in Jaco , organized by SURFEADORES CRISTIANOS and the
local community sponsoring the events , Invitational "EXPRESSION
SESSION" and an over 30 division [ressurection division]all riding

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

DOMINICAL & OSA

CARIBBEAN

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
The wave heights are slacking off a bit from an EXCELLENT week of
great waves. However, they are only slacking off in size and are
still very nice in form. So, the height this morning (Friday) was
shoulder-high to a couple of feet overhead. The winds have been low
and the tide is still working for two sessions a day. However, it is
better in the morning around 8:00 am.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): It looks like we might get a big
pulse (probably would bring a few double overheads) from the south
(around 200 degrees) on Saturday and Sunday. However, it looks like
a short pulse and when I see those, they often never appear. But as
I always say, we welcome anything from the south here in
Dominical...anything.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The break was at the river
mouth all week but it is back to being good all the way up and down
the beach. I actually went north of the river mouth this morning and
got some long rides where it usually breaks up. Hermosa will work as
well. Forget the point.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop (& Surf Lessons) in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -
Tamano de las olas y condiciones: It's been a great week for waves
in Tamarindo. The combination of north swells and south swells have
waves breaking from the rivermouth to Langosta. We've had some
unusual weather--it's clouded over and poured twice and we're in a
rainy-season wind pattern which means that the wind has been on-
shore from mid-morning until almost dark. The water temperature is
great, though! Everybody's curious about what's going on with this
crazy weather! Habian muchisimas olas in Tamarindo esta semana.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -
Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): It's supposed to
build over the weekend. We're looking forward to big waves and
hoping the wind pattern turns back to summer!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -
El mejor lugar a surfear este fin de semana en su area: It's good
everywhere, so if you don't know the beach watch out for rocks at
lower tides!

** Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

We've been having a beautiful overhead swell, but the weather is
totally weirding out with lots of on shores and even rain.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
we still are hoping for off shores.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: This swell is focusing in
front of the hotel.

** Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The surf has been staying in the
chest high to well overhead size since last week's report. The winds
have been great in the mornings but then the afternoons have had
some slight onshores. It hasn't mattered, the surf has been really
fun. Strange rain for a couple days though, is it El Nino? Who
knows, who cares, we're living in paradise and the surf has been
great!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - The reports show
that the surf should stay about the same size today and tomorrow
from the SW swell we've had (for the past ten days or so) and a new
NW swell should pick up by Sunday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - Northwest swell +
Tamarindo Rivermouth = good surf. Also check your favorite reef, its
probably breaking. Ollie's Point has been firing too with the strong
south swell thats been running, although the south may fade a bit.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- check out
http://www.witchsrocksurfcamp.com if you want the best vacation of
your life. Go Chargers! pura vida- joe

in The East Bowl. We have good surf but not so great tides for
tomorrow's Mango Pro at Calle Bohio in Jaco. Heats begin at 7AM. As

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop (& Surf Lessons) in Tamarindo -

The rivermouth has been the spot this week! All of the Tamarindo
spots have been pretty much flat this week except the rivermouth was
firing rights at all tides there for a few days--wow! Yesterday the
wind went on shore in the afternoon and the water temperature is up
a few more degrees.
Ayer el viento estaba on

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): It looks like on Monday things
are supposed to pick up a little, so be patient through the weekend.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Langosta has got waves, but
is reported as super-crowded, same for Grande. In Tamarindo check
out the rivermouth but be prepared to share. I heard it got nasty
over there the other day and that makes me sick.

** Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

We have an overhead to overhead and a half, westerly swell running
now for several days but the wind has been flukey and the clean
windows have been short. Some of the sessions have been super
especially if you can avoid the close outs.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): As soon as the off shore wind
comes back on it with the high tides in the morning, we should have
great surf unless it gets too big.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Our guys are coming back from
Witches raving and we have been slipping down to Tamarindo on the
service road for longer clean sessions with incoming tide. Chicken
Head Rock at the north end of the bay has been firing for the long
boarders.

** Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The surf has been BIG and VERY
GOOD since tuesday, the only bad side is that the winds have been
blowing onshore by 930am or so....but with the high tides in the
early morning, if you got up early and surfed this week you totally
scored!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - We should have
similar size waves for the next week straight. The SW swell along
with some NW swell in the water has made for peaky surf which
shouldn't go anywhere any time soon!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - The reefs have been
firing, if you have a secret spot like I do its probably been going
off! Witch's Rock has been good and very big, don't go unless you
can hang with double overhead sets. Ollie's yesterday was overhead
and fun, and as it's a strong south swell expect Ollie's to be all-
time surf conditions. Bring the camera!

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

DOMINICAL & OSA

CARIBBEAN

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical -

I don't know how this could be only a 4 foot swell which is what
LOLA says. There are some really nice waves a few feet overhead
coming by on a regular basis with rare double overheads to wreck
your confidence. The condition at Domincal is a little closed out
and windy in the afternoon, but the morning session is excellent. I
surfed the point this morning before the tide came in enough to make
the beach work and it was rideable but disappointing (not
recommended). The beach near the river mouth is best for rights and
tortilla flats is best for the lefts, but either can be found at
both.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Other than saying "more of the
same" which is what it looks like on LOLA, I would have to say I
don't have any idea. From LOLA, it should be totally closed out and
a little overhead but that is not what I see. So, I'll stick
with "more of the same" and hope that I am right.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su >area: If things hold up, Dominical
beach is the place to be. I haven't checked out Hermosa, but it
should be just a tad bit smaller and just as nice. If LOLA proves to
be right and Dominical closes out, the point will be the only
option.
