surfboards this summer. Check with your travel/tour agent to see if
you'll be affected.

TIDES *for Friday
( add 50 min. each day after)

New Moon - May 30th

Low Tide - 1.42 ft. at 8:15 am
High Tide - 8.67 ft at 2:31 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - A SSW pulse with filter in Sunday afternoon, pushing the
surf up from overhead to a foot bigger. Try some early morning
sessions at the point breaks. Monday it peaks out with 2-3 overhead
sets and Tuesday, a little cleaner with the sets more infrequent. By
next Wednesday, the swell dissapates, but remnant swell keeps the
surf overhead into next weekend.

Caribbean - A steady flow of ENE wind swell will bring in waist to
chest high surf through the weekend and some head high sets on
Monday. The size then fades slowly, with the biggers sets more
inconsistent through the week.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Major tide changes a factor this weekend. With size running
1-2 overhead, Saturday and Sunday look good to hit point breaks on
the dropping tides. Monday will see 1-2 overhead surf, dropping a
foot by the afternoon and another Tuesday. Wednesday through Saturday
expect headhigh surf with an overhead set every 15 minutes. Best time
for a dawn patrol at a south facing beach. Next swell due in next
Tuesday morning from the SSW bringing 1-3 overhead surf until the
following weekend.

Caribbean - Waves dropping over the weekend from headhigh early
Saturday to waist to chest by Sunday afternoon. Continue to decrease
early in the week, to knee high by Wednesday and no relief until the
weekend. Next Sunday some ENE swell sweeps in from Cuba pushing surf
back to chest high.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - A great time to be here, the weekend will be 2 foot
overhead with bigger sets at the beach breaks and not back off until
Sunday evening. SSW backs down to headh high to overhead Monday
morning and then stays consistent and clean about head high to
Thursday. Then next Friday and Saturday see more SSW swell with waves
a foot overhead. A huge fetch across the Southern Pacific will keep
waves coming for the next 2-3 weeks, book your ticket.

Caribbean - Swell on the Caribbean is still coming in, with the
current ENE dying down from head high to waist high Monday morning.
Monday and Tuesday are as small, but another E swell piles in with
surf chest to head Wednesday afternoon and overhead Thursday. Friday
the swell cleans up and then drop back to waist to chest by Saturday.
I would take a visit to this very tropical island-vibe coast while
the breaks are empty!

Monday afternoon and stay consistent through Thursday up north, while
dropping a foot farther south the same day. Then for Saturday, a
second SSW swell arrives with waves 2 foot overhead, bigger on the
sets. This swell stays strong through next Sunday, with another surge
of SW following that one.

Caribbean - A late season ENE swell is kicking up chest high surf for
the weekend, and will increase throughout next week as another E
system rushes to the coast, bringing waves head high with some
overhead sets up until next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Carrie and Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

Thursday saw waves in the head high range at Grande, but with onshore
winds by mid-morning. Junky, but still some fun.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): Maybe an hour or two at dawn before the
onshore winds. Also, watch for the passing rainstorm to switch the
wind around to offshore, however briefly.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The main peak at Playa Grande.
Negra has been breaking well recently, and you can catch it in the
morning hours.

** From Diana, the best surf maestra in Tamarindo -

The rains came to Tamarindo for real on Wednesday, and we are now
into our "winter" pattern of onshore winds during the day. The season
is off to a bang of a start, too--even the mornings have been
overcast and rainy. Waves are about waist to chest high on the sets,
but the shape isn't there right now due to the wind.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
Pray for sunset sessions! The tide will be right for sunset waves,
but the conditions are unpredictable right now. We haven's seen the
rumored big swell. If it continues to miss us, waves will be waist to
chest and we'll just have to wait and see what the wind does.
viento.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The Tamarindo Rivermouth is
trying to form up a nice wave now. The Langosta or Avellanas
Rivermouths could be good sunset spots as the tide pulls back out.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Surfin'Di
signing out here for a few months...heading north for the summer to a
windy land-locked city. Catch me some waves--I'll be back in October.

** From Denis at Tamarindo Adventure in Tamarindo:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones:
Hoy entro algo de mas tamaño, se ven lindo pero falta mucha fuerza.
Esta llegando entre 3 y 4 pies entre marea media a alta. Por ejemplo
en langosta mejoro mucho forma y tamaño, pero temprano cambio el
viento en onshore...

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA
personas ahi.....

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: No muchas
