TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

Low Tide - 1.20 ft. at 12:19 PM
High Tide - 8.39 ft. at 6:33 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Perfect weekend high tides and fun surf in the chest to head
high
range on the sets. Early into next weeks the tides are midmorning, but
the
swell is just not there, surf in the waist to chest high range, with
maybe a
head high sneaker. By next weekend, SW fills in with some overhead
surf, and
the waves look best for south facing beaches.

Caribbean - The right coast es muerto, dead - flat. Great for diving
with some
excellent visibility. Not expecting anything for the coming week.
Hopefully the
next report will paint a brighter picture.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

The swell definitely dropped today, but the conditions continue to be
messy and
onshore. This past week saw big waves, but unfortunately very messy
conditions
have prevailed all week. Not many takers at Playa Grande; ome headed
for
Avellanas and supposedly caught it good on Tues. and Wed. Happy note:
red tide
is gone!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

It seems that we're pretty socked into this temporal type weather, but
some
have been saying it's supposed to clear on Saturday. It might be nice
to get a
break from the hard onshores that have been blowing from the south with
a
dreary consistency.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area: Maybe try Playa Negra or Avellanas, as Grande
seems
to be stuck in a washing machine cycle.

** From Diana in Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

It's been a week of great big messy waves. The swell is so south that
the
rivermouth is doing nothing and the beach down to the lifeguard stand
is
overhead, dumpy and closed out. The best place in town has been the
Capitan
Suizo and everyone knows it: 30-40 people there per session. Langosta
is
breaking huge on the outside but dumpy and messy as well. Ha sido una
semana de
olas grandes y desorganizadas.
quebrando afuera
grandisima pero sin buena forma.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

The swell looks smaller today and a bit more west, which is good for
us. This
is our window for the sunrise and sunset session when the on-shore
winds
slacken.
amanacer y
atardecer cuando los vientos on-shore estan calmados.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

The spot is the Capitan Suizo on south swells. As it shifts a bit we
may get
some action at the river mouth.
rio.

** From Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -

The surf has been big, really fun in the morning, but the wind has been
crap
and going onshore (I guess 5 months of straight offshore wind had to
end
sometime). The surfs been fun, it got BIG on Tuesday, double overhead,
with
that last south that slammed Ollie's, broken boards, big macking,
wedging,
dredging rights. Good fun.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -

This weekend will see Ollie's and Witch's in the shoulder-to-possibly
head high
range, nothing too big but fun. The wind is finally starting to wise up
and
return to normal.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -

Witch's Rock, Ollie's Point, porn sites.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-

WRSC has now aquired a new 15-passenger van and offers a daily shuttle
between
WRSC Tamarindo and WRSC Playas del Coco. We also have a weekly shuttle

Tamarindo to Mal Pais and Montezuma. ANY

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -

DOMINICAL & SOUTHERN PACIFIC

** From Greg at the Adventure Education Center in Dominical-

Waves are chest high and fun with some strong offshores early morning
mixed
with high tide.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

Surf will be small, in the chest high range, and best early before the
high
tide mushout. Also late afternoon seshes will be well worth it.

TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

Low Tide - 1.15 ft. at 12:03 PM
High Tide - 8.35 ft. at 6:19 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Consistent head high to 2 foot overhead conditions and clean
for the
beachbreaks. Offshores to 9 a.m., then light onshores kick in until an
hour
before dark when the wind dies out. Swell turns more southerly Sunday
and by
Monday dies fast, back to chest to head high with a 12 second period.
Tuesday
and Wednesday morning are smaller, but watch for a freak peak pick up
Wednesday
afternoon from a nearby SW windswell. Then it drops back to chest high
with
some head high sets for next weekend. Also midmorning high tides make
it
perfect for the morning seshes at your favorite beachbreak. Keep an eye
out for
a hefty south swell to appear by the end of the month.

Caribbean - Solid chest to head high surf pushing in from the ENE with
some
bigger sets. Get on it now as Sunday witnesses a drop to waist to chest
high
conditions, and by Monday the swell is gone, back to waist high. No
relief
until the next report with no visible swells in the Caribbean Sea.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

Unbelievable surf conditions for May!! We've had consistent offshore
winds for
the last week with head high to overhead surf! Thursday saw more of the
same
with overhead surf at the main peak at Grande and offshores all day,
making for
two great sessions, both morning and afternoon. Friday was swirling
light
offshore to north sideshore for the morning session and by noon it was
howling
onshore. There's still some swell in the water and as the rain storms
rolled in
from the south by evening, it went offshore briefly before dark.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

We will at least have a good morning session if there's plenty of
swell. The
afternoon session all depends on the wind.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

The main peak at Grande. Or head north to Witch's for a better chance
of
afternoon offshores.

** From Diana in Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

For the last week the south swell has come rolling steadily into the
bay
bringing us sets up to head high at the estuary as the tide comes in.
Langosta,
reportedly, has been throwing out fast 5-foot rights. Even the Capitan
Suizo
has been breaking at about three feet at high tide. The hard off-shores
that
have blown for the last week switched on-shore yesterday at mid-day as
the
inland sky piled up with clouds. Esta semana el swell del sur ha
llegado
estero a
la marea entrante. Langosta, se dice, has estado tirando derechos
rapidos a

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

The swell appears to be dropping, but the weekend should remain a lot
like the
week--with good sets coming from the south. We'll see what the wind
does. I
wouldn't be surprised to see some more on-shore afternoons.
buenos
sets del sur. Veremos que hace el viento. No me sorprenderia ver mas
tardes
on-shore.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

The actual best places to surf around here right now are Avellanas and
Playa
Grande. In town, look for the
estuaries (Langosta or Las Baulas) as the long sand bars and Pico
Pequeno
aren't doing much. Los verdaderos mejores lugares para surfear ahora
son
Avellanas y Playa Grande. Aqui en Tamarindo, busque los esteros
(Langosta y Las

JACO & HERMOSA

** From Chuck at Chosita del Surf in Jaco -

them. It

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -

divertida
diciplina del surfeo. Esto es todo por el momento. Adios.
