TIDES *for Friday
(add 50 min. each day after)

Full Moon - November 8th

High Tide -9.0 ft at 6:52 am
Low Tide - .29 ft. at 1:08 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The excellent SW swell pumps in 2-3 overhead surf all
weekend and stays strong until Tuesday afternoon, as it will drop
down to overhead. Wednesday will still see some overhead sets, but
less consistent and by Thursday it will be down to chest to head
high. Next Friday looks smaller, only chest high sets at the best
beachbreaks. Going into next weekend, it does not look good, only
chest high and waiting for some South swell that shows in about 11
days.

Caribbean - Swell from the ENE drifts in slowly for the weekend, not
pushing surf over waist high. The conditions do not improve until
next Wednesday afternoon, when some bigger chest high bumps will be
seen and by next Friday, a head high set or two will keep the locals
happy.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the best surf instructor in Tamarindo -

Wave heights and conditions: There's been a south swell running this
week which brought head high surf to Tamarindo. Capitan Suizo was
breaking nicely from waist to chest high over the weekend and the
south wind that chopped up the waves at other local breaks was off
shore there. The swell has dimisished, but waves still are shoulder
high near the rivermouth and morning winds are light off shore.

What to expect this weekend: Another swell is rumored to be on the
way, so it should be a great weekend in Tamarindo. You can get in two
sessions with the early/late tides. Afternoons are variable--some are
rainy and on shore, but the pattern is starting to shift and allow
some pretty sunset sessions.

Best place to surf: I don't think you can go wrong. If it gets big,
the Suizo should be good--or just run for the closest wave.

** From Carlos at Roca Bruja Surf Tours in Playa de Coco -

TIDES *for Friday
(add 50 min. each day after)

New Moon - October 25th

Low Tide -.13 ft at 7:29 am
High Tide - 8.8 ft. at 1:43 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Saturday will see the start of a new SW swell with surf 1-2
foot overhead. By Monday it increases another 2 feet and by next
Wednesday easily double overhead at southwest facing beachbreaks.
Wednesday also shows an influx of northwest swell, too, so look for
lots of set waves and hit the points Thursday at lower tides. (Swells
always seem to arrive right on or after a new moon. How convenient!)

Caribbean - Surf this weekend drops down to knee to waist high with
no real sets. The swell fades entirely by Monday and Tuesday it's
tiny. Wednesday and Thursday also look knee high or less, but Friday
should see an increase of a foot and continuing to get better for
next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana the surf instructor in Tamarindo -

It's been a week of a lot of variety! A lot of onshore wind, some off-
shore mornings, nice shoulder-high waves during afternoon sessons mid-
week but a little smaller now. The swell direction is westerly and
the last few mornings have been clear and bright. Very cool water! La
semana ha tenido mucha variedad! Mucho viento on-shore, algunas

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas): This weekend we can expect nice morning
surf if the weather pattern holds. Probably not all that big, but
should be clean. Dress warmly.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA- > El mejor lugar a
really likes this swell direction! La boca de rio en Tamarindo esta
buena con esta direccion de swell.

** From Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - The surfs been dropping throughout
the week, from really fun overhead surf on Monday to waist-to-chest
high slop mid-day Friday. It was really really good the first couple
days of the week...

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Fortunately the
swell looks to be building again, by Sunday surf should return to
shoulder-to-head high (hopefully bigger at exposed spots)

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA- The Tamarindo
Rivermouth has been shaping up the last few weeks, the surf this past
Monday and Tuesday has shown that true potential to the rivermouth is
there... Since the swell should have alot of west in it, Tamarindo
should show to be quite fun!!

** From Carlos at Roca Bruja Surf Tours in Playa de Coco -

Roca Bruja Surf Operation Playas
del coco. MUY PRONTO - WWW.COSTARICASURFTRIPS.COM

JACO & HERMOSA

** From Guido at Hotel Fuego del Sol in Playa Hermosa -

Conditions have been pretty much the same during the week, surf from
the southwest, waist to shoulder, not much wind and a few nice
barrels and not crowded at all, tropical depresion approaching the
coast and a change on the swell`s direction and zise is expected for
Sat overnight - Sunday morning. Biggest waves will be tomorrow head
high and maybe one foot overhead, gets smaller on Fry and Sat and
changes on Sunday to ssw. Tides in Hermosa are high in the early
morning, but not too big, ( 6.50 average) good for early raisers, 5
am till 8 am, or late afternoon before sunset, great way to end the
day. According to the swell's direction, is better to surf in Boca
Barranca, Caldera.. Left breaks are on for the weekend.

Full Moon - October 10th

Low Tide -.32 ft at 8:52 am
High Tide - 8.64 ft. at 3:01 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The peak of this weekend's WSW and NW swell combo will come
Saturday afternoon, with surf 1-2 foot overhead with an 11 second
period. Expect lots of set waves through Sunday. By Monday evening it
drops a foot but won't get below head high at the beachbreaks.
Another SW swell arrives Thursday morning bringing waves a foot
overhead and a 13 second period. Surf will be consistently overhead
all through next weekend with more set waves due to some NW swell
arriving. Dawn patrol tomorrow for barrels!

Caribbean - The right coast is still quiet, with surf knee high to
waist all weekend and through next week until Thursday, when a ESE
wind swell raises waves up to chest high. But due to tropical
activity in the Atlantic, long range swells may push in a few nice
sets at the right moment.

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - A Southwest swell continues for Saturday with waves head
high to 2 foot overhead and a 13 second period at the best
beachbreaks and points. It drops 2 feet by Sunday afternoon, and by
Monday it appears only chest high at best with a 7 second period. The
SW push slowly comes back Tuesday afternoon and by next Wednesday
fills in with overhead surf and a 12 second period with some west
angle from tropical sotrm Nora. This swell won't last more than a
couple of days so by the following weekend it will be not better than
head high. Keep your eyes on Tropical storm Nora and a new depression
just SE of it.

Caribbean - If you are going over to the right coast this weekend or
next week, bring your mask and snorkel becasue it will be flat.
Tropical storm Larry is not expected to cross the Yucatan and produce
waves.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana the surf instructor in Tamarindo -

There's been a nice southwest swell going this week bringing in waves
around shoulder high in Tamarindo, head high in Langosta. Ocean and
wind conditions have been stormy, but some early morning this week
have been fairly well lined up and even off-shore.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de semana (clima y olas):
It's October, so who knows? We've got plenty of waves right now, it's
all about how stormy the ocean is. Expect quick drops and short
rides.
Espere entradas
rapidas y rides cortos.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Langosta seems to be picking
up this swell the best. The earlier in the morning, the better.
Langosta esta agrrado bien este swell. Entre mas temprano en la
manana, mejor.

** From Denis at Hightide Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

unos 3 a 5 pies.

Low Tide -(-.23) ft at 8:42 am
High Tide - 9.33 ft. at 2:56 pm

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The SSW swell has arrived bringing surf overhead to 2-3'
overhead on the sets by Sunday morning. Up north the surf will be a
foot smaller. The wave period lengthens to 13 seconds Monday and
Tuesday, and those days will be the best for a sunset session.
Wednesday the swell fades un poco down to head high, and by Thursday
afternoon, the overhead sets only appear every 15 to 20 minutes. Next
weekend looks small, chest high, and nothing hitting until the
following Wednesday from the SSW.

Caribbean - The flat spell is almost over. On Tuesday afternoon,
waves will increase from knee high to waist high with a few chest
high sets and Wednesday morning looks best for finding chest high
surf. Thursday the swell fades all day and by Friday it's back to
knee to waist. Be aware that conditions change dramatically with the
presence of tropical storms so watch for updates.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana, the PuraMar surf teacher in Tamarindo -

Wave heights and conditions: The swell that came in during the
weekend gave us about two days of excitement. Waves now range from
waist to shoulder high, coming in from the south/southwest. The on-
shore switch is coming pretty early in the mornings now. Afternoon
rains have been consistent and rather heavy for the last week,
cooling off the steamy afternoons and sometimes turning the wind
around.

What to expect this weekend: This weekend, expect beautiful morning
and rainy afternoons. Getting up early will be the best stragegy for
getting good surf. Think twice about surfing too soon after heavy
rains, as this is a common cause of ear infections and other
unpleasantries.

Best place to surf this weekend: With the south/southwest pulse,
Avellanas should be good. There has been some road work, so it may
even be passable! The rivermouth in Tamarindo around mid-tide is
looking nice and of course as long as the waves come from the south,
Grande is a good choice.
