NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The 1-2 foot overhead surf from the SSW continues Tuesday
and Wednesday, dropping Thursday down to overhead. Then a powerful
SW swell arrives Friday afternoon with sets 3 foot overhead with a
16 second period. Saturday the swell maxes out and by Sunday the
surf drops a foot. Stays 2 feet overhead through next Tuesday, but
afterwards looks smaller.

Caribbean - The burst of head high+ plus coming from Emily will drop
off on Tuesday to chest high. For the rest of the week, continuous
wind swell will keep it waist to chest high with some infrequent
head high sets at the primo spots. Solid chest to head by Friday.
Sets disappear Saturday but the weekend will still hold fun waist to
chest surf.

AREA REPORTS (sent in on 7/15)

** From Diana at Pura Mar Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

Tamarindo surf is small this week and has dropped even more today;
probably waist high at best. A few days have been off-shore all
morning and close to glassy at sunset. There hasn't been much rain
this week so the water is really clear.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas):This weekend will be a weekend for
sunset sessions. The swell is supposed to pick up again so we hope
not to have the late afternoon thundertsorms.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
should be the best places in the area since the surf is small. Playa
pequenas.

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande -

The surf at this end of the bay has been huge and out of control so
we've been slipping down the service road to the Tamarindo Estero
mouth and killing it on both sides of "Baulas" with early morning
overhead beauties. It is pretty inconsistent, but smooth.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): It should calm down some and
possibly be ridable elsewhere in the bay by Sunday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: If it calms down a little we
can surf out front.

** From Harry at Coconut Harry's in Playa Guiones (Nosara) -

Hola mi amigos - it's Coconut Harry in Playa Guiones (Nosara). Huge
or BIG, like 15-18 foot faces rolling in - kinda tough to get out at
this beach break and closing out most sets. Some spots nearby are
working fairly good on this type of swell. "Olga's" was fun this
morning - a right point, surfable around the high tides. Looks like
more manageable surf by Monday. If you come to Nosara, stop by my
shop for a free, local map. Pura Vida - Coconut Harry

** From Samara Surf School on the Nicoya Peninsula -

HUGE!!! 7 to 8 foot, good shape waves with a fast peak. 3 per set,
then 8 to 10 foot closeouts roll in. Great dawn patrol with glassy
conditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): A swell is here, the waves may
drop down to their normal swell size 4 to 5 foot, to stick through
the weekend. Good shape and glassy conditions after rainstorms.
Choppy when it is windy. During low tides some 6 to 8 foot close
outs rolling in.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: The best surfing spot in
Samara is right in front of the Las Brisas Del Pacifico hotel. No
crowds or localism and a cleaner wave.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: The swell has
hit!!!!!!!!! Come surfing! Great beginner conditions for learning to
surf during low tides, bring the kids and the whole family. Time to
learn is now! Pura Vida

** From Chuck at WOW Surf in Jaco -

** From Rancho Coral in Esterillos -

(from 7-16) Local Climate: Overcast, Air Temp: 91F. Water Temp 87F,
Direction & Height: Southwest 4-6ft, Sea Surface: Glass, Wind: South
0-3 MPH, Sunrise: 5:20 AM, Sunset: 6:03 PM, High Tide: 09:35 AM /
8.14 ft, Low Tide: 03:55 PM / 1.77 ft, Current Conditions- We have a
good sized southwest that should sustain through the weekend into
next week. Awsome Surf here at The Ranch, PURA VIDA!!

** From Brice at Land Assurance Reforestation in Dominical -

Big, gnarly, crashing waves at Dominical. Barely surfable. Eight
people went out yesterday at high tide and within 1/2 hour two
boards were broken and one person was left out surfing.
Unfortunately, the point isn't going off (this is not uncommon when
the swell is not deep enough from the south). So, we are sort of
shut out here for a day or two. I think as the swell shrinks just a
tad, the beach will work very well. The waves have form and some
good tubes. It is just to hard to work it.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar
este fin de semana (clima y olas): Slightly smaller but still big
and strong.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a
surfear este fin de semana en su area: Don't know what to say.
Hermosa looked the best yesterday off the point on the north end of
the beach but I didn't go out.
