NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - The SW swell finally showed this afternoon and
will only increase through the weekend and into next week.
Expect surf in the head high to overhead range for Friday
and Saturday, then Sunday it will get a little bigger, will
be 2 foot overhead by Monday on the sets. Swell shifts to
the south for the midweek with hightides at sunrise and
sunset, making for double sessions at the beachbreaks.

Caribbean - Saturday will be blessed with a nice head high
East swell from a passing local system. Surf should drop
slowly on Sunday and by Monday be back in the waist to
chest high range. By midweek, surf gets even smaller with
some knee to waist high waves. You'll need to sneak to that
hidden beachbreak to get some chest high sets that come
through every 15 minutes.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Diana at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

The surf has picked up a bit this week. Some afternoon wind
has been on shore, but not all. The river mouth has had a
wave since Tuesday and even Pico Pequeno is breaking around
waist high. Langosta is reported to have been going off
south of the estuary. El surf se ha mejorado en esta
semana.
no todas.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

This should be a beautiful weekend for dawn patrol. The off
shore wind and high outgoing tide at first light will be
worth getting up for. I expect waist high waves, maybe
chest at best.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

It sounds like Langosta is the place to be, or take a walk
to Playa Grande or points along the way.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

It's been about chest to shoulder high all week. The
offshore winds have made for some fun conditions, and we've
had double-sessions due to the tides, so at least the
morning session promised still to light offshores. No
complaints, really! Fun to be had for those who hit it
right!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

Let's hope we get some swell.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

The main peak at Grande and points to the north and south.
Also, ChickenHead Rock has been fun the past week.

** From Diana at Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y
condiciones:

There's not been much going on here this week. We've got a
little shore break north of the lifeguard tower that's
about knee high and rideable at high tide. Other than that,
we're waiting.
marea alta.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

Don't see much new forcasted. This would be a great weekend
to teach your significant other to surf, or your kids or
your pets!

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

The aforementioned beach break is full of people's
children, pets and significant other's learning to surf, so
if you want waves head to Grande, to Avellanas or to Playa
Negra.
Playa Grande o Avellanas o Playa Negra.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -

high. It stayed glassy to light offshore all day until
around 5 pm when it turned side onshore. With the high tide
push, there were some head high sets. Fun, but very
crowded.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a

More of the same, though the wind has been unpredictable.
Where's "little summer"????

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor

The main peak at Grande, as well as peaks to the north and
south to avoid the crowds.

** From Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -

Well, it hasn't been exactly firing this week, but you
can't complain with offshore winds from sun-up to sun-
down. Witch's and Ollie's both maxing out at shoulder high,
clean surf. Little barrels (bring your little friends)

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -

We're hoping to see an increase in surf- which was supposed
to occur by today (thursday 7-11). If the satelite reports
are correct, we'll see the surf practically double in the
next 12 hours or so. I'm not holding my breath, just
hoping. Expecting. Really hoping.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -

No matter what, Ollie's Point will always be the best wave
in our area. Its the best wave we've ever surfed, and even
if its only waist high, the wind is offshore and the waves
set up and break from take-off to the sand! so get out
there if you have the itch, theres NO CROWDS.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-

cheap beer too.

hightides mean dawn patrols at the points, as well as Tulin and
Barranca.
Nothing big showing for next weekend.

Caribbean - The NE swell has backed off from the coast, leaving some
sets in
the chest to head high range for Friday and dropping by to chest high
for the
weekend. The size drops a little more for early next week, while the
rain
appears to be making a comeback.

TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

High Tide - 9.11 ft. at 11:33 AM
Low Tide - .67 ft. at 5:53 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - For Saturday and Sunday, a nice SW swell pushes in head high
surf
with a few overhead waves mixed in with the sets. Wave period - 13
seconds. The
swell fades out Monday and by Tuesday, another midweek waist to chest
high
waves with a short 12 second period. Look for the next swell to come
from the
south, with surf head high on Sunday and next Monday a foot overhead.
It will
be nice, coinciding with an early morning high tide and will last two
or three
days.

Caribbean - The East swell is pushing in head high fun surf as I write
this,
but it won't last past Monday so get to the right coast now. Will
slowly
decrease from chest down to waist high by Thursday, with a posible
revival for
next weekend.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

It's been chest to occasionally head high at Grande for the last few
days, with
some okay morning sessions with glassy to light offshore conditions.
Nothing
spectacular, but definitely surfable.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

Let's hope there's a swell on the way. Otherwise, we'll be dealing with
both
small surf and a mid day tide, which doesn't bode well for good
conditions, as
it's been going onshore by noon everyday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

Try Grande if the wind cooperates, otherwise hit low to mid tide breaks
like
Avellanas Rivermouth and Negra or a morning session.

** From Diana in Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

Mornings have been our little window of glassy surf before the wind
kicks up
on-shore. The waves have been small--waist to chest high at best, with
bigger
sets across the estuary on the way to Playa Grande. Langosta had some
head-high
sets early in the week, but today is considerably smaller. En las
mananas hemos
pequeno.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

As the high tides shifts toward mid-day, we're left with
barely-surfable low
tides on these beautiful mornings. By the time the water level has
risen the
wind is usually on shore, but it's light enough that you can still have
some
fun.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

The rivermouth is breaking with this swell direction, and there's hope
for
midtide midmorning sessions where the wind may cooperate. Otherwise I
would
suggest Playa Grande or Avellanas where bigger waves will mean more
fun.
Si
no,
recomiendo Playa Grande o Avellanas donde olas mas grandes significaran
mas
diversion.

that they
probably traded for a bag of weed or a couple of rocks or maybe so they
could
live here another couple of weeks you know dude ! DONT TAKE ANYTHING TO

just your board leash and LEAVE YOUR CAR OPEN ! Please if we dont give
them
anything to steal they cant steal it, they are sometimes armed and the
real
ticos are so laid back that the system doesnt allow us to solve it from
a
legal/police type manner so we just eliminate what they are stealing !
If you
see someone else setting themselves up for a hit warn them, most if not
all of
us live from tourism so lets protect and nurture what we have so it
will GROW !
Thanks Chuck ! (*This is what Louis at Playa Grande says to do as well

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -

No
obstante,

Sábado: 12:08 A.M y 12:30 P.M Domingo: 1:06 A.M y 1:24 P.M Nota. La
marea roja

Sunday and smaller still Monday.

Pacific - Waves will be head high this weekend with some overhead sets
from a
SW swell mixed with a 15 second period south swell. By Monday, the
South takes
over the pictures and pushes in overhead surf for south facing beaches.
By
Tuesday, a major drop in size will be seen, back to waist to chest
high, and
will stay that size through next weekend.

Caribbean - The right coast flat spell is still in effect, however on
the
horizon is a nice E swell kicking in surf for next weekend. Enjoy the
sunshine
and the reggae flavor of Cahuita and Puerto Viejo.

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -

Playitas.

DOMINICAL & SOUTHERN PACIFIC

** From Alicia at the Adventure Education Center in Dominical-

At low tide surf was fun and a little smaller, except for the cleanup
sets.
Strong currents also were felt.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

With high tide around dawn and dusk, expect nice dawn patrols and late
afternoon sessions. Surf will be in the head high+ range.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este

Dawn patrol between the white houses.

Championships set
for August 6-12 in Boca Barranca!

chapter of the
Surfrider Foundation - Protecting the World's Oceans, Waves, and
Beaches.

TIDES *for Friday - add 50 min. each day after

Low Tide - 1.20 ft. at 12:19 PM
High Tide - 8.39 ft. at 6:33 PM

NATIONAL FORECAST

Pacific - Perfect weekend high tides and fun surf in the chest to head
high
range on the sets. Early into next weeks the tides are midmorning, but
the
swell is just not there, surf in the waist to chest high range, with
maybe a
head high sneaker. By next weekend, SW fills in with some overhead
surf, and
the waves look best for south facing beaches.

Caribbean - The right coast es muerto, dead - flat. Great for diving
with some
excellent visibility. Not expecting anything for the coming week.
Hopefully the
next report will paint a brighter picture.

AREA REPORTS

NICOYA (N)

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande:

The swell definitely dropped today, but the conditions continue to be
messy and
onshore. This past week saw big waves, but unfortunately very messy
conditions
have prevailed all week. Not many takers at Playa Grande; ome headed
for
Avellanas and supposedly caught it good on Tues. and Wed. Happy note:
red tide
is gone!

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

It seems that we're pretty socked into this temporal type weather, but
some
have been saying it's supposed to clear on Saturday. It might be nice
to get a
break from the hard onshores that have been blowing from the south with
a
dreary consistency.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area: Maybe try Playa Negra or Avellanas, as Grande
seems
to be stuck in a washing machine cycle.

** From Diana in Robert August Surf Shop in Tamarindo -

It's been a week of great big messy waves. The swell is so south that
the
rivermouth is doing nothing and the beach down to the lifeguard stand
is
overhead, dumpy and closed out. The best place in town has been the
Capitan
Suizo and everyone knows it: 30-40 people there per session. Langosta
is
breaking huge on the outside but dumpy and messy as well. Ha sido una
semana de
olas grandes y desorganizadas.
quebrando afuera
grandisima pero sin buena forma.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este
fin de
semana (clima y olas):

The swell looks smaller today and a bit more west, which is good for
us. This
is our window for the sunrise and sunset session when the on-shore
winds
slacken.
amanacer y
atardecer cuando los vientos on-shore estan calmados.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear
este
fin de semana en su area:

The spot is the Capitan Suizo on south swells. As it shifts a bit we
may get
some action at the river mouth.
rio.

** From Joe at Witches Rock Surf Camp-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS -

The surf has been big, really fun in the morning, but the wind has been
crap
and going onshore (I guess 5 months of straight offshore wind had to
end
sometime). The surfs been fun, it got BIG on Tuesday, double overhead,
with
that last south that slammed Ollie's, broken boards, big macking,
wedging,
dredging rights. Good fun.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) -

This weekend will see Ollie's and Witch's in the shoulder-to-possibly
head high
range, nothing too big but fun. The wind is finally starting to wise up
and
return to normal.

BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA -

Witch's Rock, Ollie's Point, porn sites.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS-

QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO

** From David at Escuela D'Amore in Manuel Antonio -
