Caribbean - A tropical depression will develop early next week. Expect wave heights to increase by next Tuesday. The best day is next Wednesday.

(3) From Kristian at Witches Rock - Sent 9/13 - Hola amigos! The last 4 days we have had no wave and really rainny weather, and no one has been able to go to witch's. Today the weather was better sunny and no rain... Hopefully we will be able to go surfing and send you a surf report. These passed days there has been no surfers in the area, the beaches are empty. How ever wants to come is welcome.... The 15th is the independence day of costa rica, so we are all having a party this week.
(4) From Steve at Tropicos Latino- WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS: It's been a week of torrential rains and blown out disorganized surf. However today dawned sunny and the waves have cleaned up about 60% i.e. surfable. Out front it's around 5', peaks well overhead - but short rides. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: This storm is supposed to be moving away to the south now so the surf should continue to clean up with the possibility of some good waves at the weekend. The pattern through the next 2 months should be one of periods of "temporal" interspersed with sunnier days. Check the weather if you're coming down, weather is a much bigger problem than lack of swell at this time of year.WHERE TO SURF IN THIS AREA THIS WEEKEND: With high tide moving into the morning, you should be spoiled for choice.....if it gets glassy.

Divisions will be prejunior, junior, open, womens and a masters divisions. 1st place in prejunior and junior , open and women will be new ERIE and Banzaii surfboards ! If you have any clients or know of any guides that are interested in this service, please do not hesitate to contact us at 777-1868.** WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Surf from noon to late afternoon this week with 4-6 foot swells in most areas.Best places to surf are Playitas, Bajos, and Mar y Sombra. Most consistent waves were on Saturday while high tide was at its highest point at about 4. >From Sunday to Tuesday afternoon, sessions were plagued with wind and rain. Good waves in front of Mar y Sombra for morning sessions on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Morning surf this week and 4-6 foot waves reported hopefully with help from offshore winds. Best places to surf this week and throughout the weekend will be Playitas and the rest of Espadilla, Del Rey and maybe the river mouth in Quepos. News in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area: Great independence parade on the wednesday the 15th. Burro from Burro Surf Shop just opened a great new surf store in Quepos right around the corner from Gran Escape and Cafe Milagro. Caribbean - Tropical disturbances in the Carribean Sea will bring wind chopped waves thoughout the weekend. The best day should be Sunday.
Pacifico - Un swell de sur-sudoeste debe llegar para domingo en la tarde. Para el próximo martes, había llenado todos las playas de sur y sudoeste con corrientes fuertes y olas muchas mas grande de su cabeza. El mejor día será el próximo martes.

(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: A nice South/Southwest swell has been running for several days. Sunday, even with light on-shore wind, the shape was fair to good and overhead on the sets. The tides are moving into the afternoon and now we are almost completely dependent on afternoon rain storms to glass off the wave faces fo r high tide. On occassion we are slipping down to the river mouth for early morning sessions when the swell is large enough. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): The good sessions are getting further and further apart as we move into the rainy season. The wind is still coming off shore in the afternoon almost every day with rain showers with some possibility for good surf. The tides will be right over the weekend for this condition. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: In front of the hotel in the afternoon or the river mouth in the morning. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: The letherback turtles are beginning to arrive at Playa Grande for their nesting ritual in the evening.

(4) From Chuck in Jaco - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: "La Chosita Del SURF" Jaco is 3-4 foot faces , fair form mid-day, moderate on shore winds which have turned offshore this p.m. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): My guess is the weekend should remain @ the same size but with morefavorable tides in the a.m. and p.m. , normal afternoon rains but nice sunnydays, no storm systems close enough in the atlantic to affect us yet like in TEMPORAL. Watch the latest system @ 600 miles east of lesser antilles, it's pretty far south and in a good area for stengthening BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Stick to the beach breaks, small to med. swell is what they like ! NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: I regret to inform c.r. of the passing of one of our most destinguished and loved founding fathers of jaco, JON DANKER, I wish his family our condolences and our prayers. (6) From Alacran Tours in Manuel Antonio - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: This last week we have had 3 to 5 foot swells come though in Manuel Antonio Beach with waves in Playitas from waist to shoulder high. Playa Cocales (across the river in Quepos) was really nice on Sunday with waist to shoulder high waves. Winds were stagnant, neither helping nor hindering the surf. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): This week we are expecting bigger swells ranging anywhere from 5 to 8 foot swells and sets up to 10+. The weather should be very fair with sunny skies the majortiy of the day and then the normal afternoon rain shower BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Best spots to surf are; Playitas, in front of Mar y Sombra and with the low tide in the morning the Damas River Mouth for those looking for heavier rights NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: For those of you that have clients interested in private surf lessons/tours we here at Alacran Tours out of Quepos are offering private bilingual guides and lessons. More of the same next week. Glassy conditions with offshores, early am... WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Rain once a day for a glass-off daily. Waves SW to WSW over the weekend. Sunday a slight breakdown of swell has it moves further SW. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Playa Grande north T Bay, Playa Avellannes should be holding nicely in the am. May be a good time for Ollie's and Witch's, but early am before the winds. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Tamarindo is in local mode...Enjoy the tranquilo life!!!!!
(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The waves are running small (waist to head high), but with good form at half to high tide and out again. Monday it was offshore almost all day and Tues it was offshore in the morning and then again at incoming tide in the afternoon with small, but good wves for both sessions. Light crowd. (measure the front of the wave and how it appears to break (glassy, choppy, mushy, barreling) WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Morning high tides are perfect for offshores and good waves if the swell doesn't get any smaller. (a guess on the size of the waves and the weather if possible) BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: It will be bigger in front of the hotel if it stays smaller. Check chicken head rock at dead high tide.
(3) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (next to Mal Pais) - WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS: After a long weekend of disorganised 3' windchop (with minus tides to boot), the surf finally cleaned up last night but with little swell. Fun chest high peaks with occasional 3' sets at Playa Carmen. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND Another SW should be on the way by now so there should be bigger surf at the weekend. If the hurricanes keep heading North, we should be OK for wind. BEST PLACE TO SURF NEAR YOU THIS WEEKEND With the high tide in the a.m. Playa Carmen should be favourite, if the swell gets big, head for the point.

I think jaco and hermosa beach breaks are the key for the weekend ,tides are getting more favorable coming sat. and sunday . No special activities for this weekend , Alvaro Solano is in Puerto Escondido in the Oakley team pro Good luck to him I will let you know the results next week , Also planning a contest to raise fund for the graduating crew from our colegio tecnico for the month of october , more on that later . Isla Damas: sin información para esta semana. 2-Con respecto al tiempo y las olas, habrá sol por la mañana y lluvia después de las 3 o 4 p.m. Esta semana en el área de Manuel Antonio las personas han preferido visitar la playa por la mañana en el área de Manuel Antonio las personas han preferido visitar la playa por la mañana por el excelente sol que ha estado haciendo, así que los invito a que hagan lo mismo. 3-Los mejores lugares para surfear en el área de Manuel Antonio son: Isla damas y Playa Playitas, esto porque aquí podemos encontrar olas grandes , surfeadores profesionales y las olas, la mayor parte del tiempo son consistentes. Peo además de los dos lugares nombrados anteriormente también está Playa Espadilla dónde las olas son un poco más pequeñas, pero hay muchas personas mirando las hazañas que usted realice con su tabla. 4-Noticias o eventos venideros: Estamos en el mes que celebramos nuestra independencia. En este mes generalmente tenemos actos cívicos, bailes, típicos, desfiles y muchas cosas más. Así que todos ustedes quedan cordialmente invitados a conocer como celebrar la independencia en Costa Rica.

Caribbean – Waves in the chest or better range from Tropical disturbances west of the Antilles. Should remain decent for the next week.
Pacifico – Un swell de sur con algo de un tormenta tropical a este van a hacer picos dos pies sobrecabeza, pero sería mas pequeña para el próximo martes. El mejor día es domingo.
Caribean – Olas de tamaño pecho o mejor de tormentas tropicales que estan oeste de las islas Antilles. Sería mantener buena para la próxima semana.

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: SW swell already showing in "T Bay", 5’, glassy sets in the am. Onshores early and then switching out to offshores at sunset. Conditions coming up with a new SW coming in on Sunday - shorebreaks 2 overhead by Monday, outside breaks sould be 10+. High tide at 9:30 am Friday. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Rain coming in late afternoon,. Waves are glassy and barrelling early morning. Rain expected over the weekend. Waves should continue to increase and by Late Monday all SW breaks should be 5 to 10. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Pick a SW break - Playa Negra - perfect conditions in the morning. Playa Grande glassy in the am. T Bay has a great rivermouth left....Try a boat trip to Witch's and Ollies. Perfect conditions 5-7. Of course Playa Avellannes will be firing down the line. Baby's Beach, Rivermouth and Little Hawaii - early morning as we go down to 1 surf session a day, except at low tides breaks.... NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Best Western - Vista Villas in Tamarindo for up to the minute surf reports and boat trips to Witch's & Ollies.
(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The waves came up today and are just overhead. Morning offshores and high tides are combining up for some great surf. Wed at 8:30 AM, outgoing tide was particularly spectacular with only 5 people out. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Morning tides all weekend and a growing swell should produce some great surf conditions. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Thurs. morning was great at dead high at Chicken Head rock just North of the hotel. The lower tides have been great in front of the hotel. If it gets big we'll slip down into the bay toward Tamarindo.
(3) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (next to Mal Pais) - WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS:The surf has been running around shoulder high this week. It has picked up this morning with 4' sets out of the SW. Conditions are not great with a lot of wind out to sea and early onshores.WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: Hope that this swell builds. Weather will become more unpredictable as we move into the the more serious part of the rainy season. As long as it doesn't rain too late at night, we should have clean surf in the mornings. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND: Sta. Teresa continues to be the best spot - particularly with low tide moving towards dawn
(4) From Neil Garda in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Playa Grande waves about head level, sloppy. No pests in the water. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): probably more of the same.

(5) From Mike at Villa Hermosa - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: 3 feet overhead on sets, glassy in mornings and afternoons, definitly barreling WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): strong swell, will probably hold for weekend expect some overhead waves, rain in afternoons BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: if not too big and closing out "the Tree" for higher tides, Roca Loca low tide. Jaco will be fun at high tide also.
(6) From Chuck in Jaco - 4-6 foot faces kind of ridable in the a,m, but real strange seems to be out of the s.w. but a couple of different swells out there it was kind of glassy in the a.m but had the "funky bump" too! afternoon heavy low tide thumpers not big but plenty thick! I think for the weekend it should clean up some so check the beach break if it drops or moves more westerly and if not keep an eye on the points which i won’t name cause everybody already knows them HAH HAH ! see ya A FRIEND IN COSTA RICA

Tamaño y consistencia de las olas esta semana- a) Playa Playitas: suaves, tranquilas, limpias, no muy consistentes y están midiendo cerca de 5 pies en marea alta. b)Isla Damas: fuertes, picadas, limpias, consistentes y están midiendo 8 pies en marea alta. c) Playa Espadilla: suaves, tranquilas, consistentes, no muy limpias yestán midiendo de 2 a 3 pies en marea alta. 2. Que esperan este fin de semana con respecto al tiempo y las olas? R/ Bueno, con respecto al tiempo es muy probable que haiga mucho sol y calor; y con respecto a las olas, creo que se van a mantener iguales. Los surfeadores del área de Manuel Antonio pinsan que en playa Playitaslas olas van a estar un poquito más grandes, algo así como 6 pies. 3. Los mejores lugares para surfear este fin de semana son:a) Playa Playitas y Isla Damas, aquí podemos encontrar las mejores olasde la zona. Además estos dos lugares son los más frecuentados por lossurfeadores por ser lugares para profesionales en el deporte del surf. 4. Hay alguna noticia o evento venidero? R/ No, por el momento no tenemos ninguna noticia ni evento venidero.

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: SW swell already showing in "T Bay", 5’, glassy sets in the am. Onshores early and then switching out to offshores at sunset. Conditions coming up with a new SW coming in on Sunday - shorebreaks 2 overhead by Monday, outside breaks sould be 10+. High tide at 9:30 am Friday. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Rain coming in late afternoon,. Waves are glassy and barrelling early morning. Rain expected over the weekend. Waves should continue to increase and by Late Monday all SW breaks should be 5 to 10. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Pick a SW break - Playa Negra - perfect conditions in the morning. Playa Grande glassy in the am. T Bay has a great rivermouth left....Try a boat trip to Witch's and Ollies. Perfect conditions 5-7. Of course Playa Avellannes will be firing down the line. Baby's Beach, Rivermouth and Little Hawaii - early morning as we go down to 1 surf session a day, except at low tides breaks.... NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Best Western - Vista Villas in Tamarindo for up to the minute surf reports and boat trips to Witch's & Ollies.
(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The waves came up today and are just overhead. Morning offshores and high tides are combining up for some great surf. Wed at 8:30 AM, outgoing tide was particularly spectacular with only 5 people out. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Morning tides all weekend and a growing swell should produce some great surf conditions. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Thurs. morning was great at dead high at Chicken Head rock just North of the hotel. The lower tides have been great in front of the hotel. If it gets big we'll slip down into the bay toward Tamarindo.
(3) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (next to Mal Pais) - WAVE HEIGHTS & CONDITIONS:The surf has been running around shoulder high this week. It has picked up this morning with 4' sets out of the SW. Conditions are not great with a lot of wind out to sea and early onshores.WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: Hope that this swell builds. Weather will become more unpredictable as we move into the the more serious part of the rainy season. As long as it doesn't rain too late at night, we should have clean surf in the mornings. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND: Sta. Teresa continues to be the best spot - particularly with low tide moving towards dawn
(4) From Neil Garda in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Playa Grande waves about head level, sloppy. No pests in the water. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): probably more of the same.

(5) From Mike at Villa Hermosa - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: 3 feet overhead on sets, glassy in mornings and afternoons, definitly barreling WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): strong swell, will probably hold for weekend expect some overhead waves, rain in afternoons BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: if not too big and closing out "the Tree" for higher tides, Roca Loca low tide. Jaco will be fun at high tide also.
(6) From Chuck in Jaco - 4-6 foot faces kind of ridable in the a,m, but real strange seems to be out of the s.w. but a couple of different swells out there it was kind of glassy in the a.m but had the "funky bump" too! afternoon heavy low tide thumpers not big but plenty thick! I think for the weekend it should clean up some so check the beach break if it drops or moves more westerly and if not keep an eye on the points which i won’t name cause everybody already knows them HAH HAH ! see ya A FRIEND IN COSTA RICA

Tamaño y consistencia de las olas esta semana- a) Playa Playitas: suaves, tranquilas, limpias, no muy consistentes y están midiendo cerca de 5 pies en marea alta. b)Isla Damas: fuertes, picadas, limpias, consistentes y están midiendo 8 pies en marea alta. c) Playa Espadilla: suaves, tranquilas, consistentes, no muy limpias yestán midiendo de 2 a 3 pies en marea alta. 2. Que esperan este fin de semana con respecto al tiempo y las olas? R/ Bueno, con respecto al tiempo es muy probable que haiga mucho sol y calor; y con respecto a las olas, creo que se van a mantener iguales. Los surfeadores del área de Manuel Antonio pinsan que en playa Playitaslas olas van a estar un poquito más grandes, algo así como 6 pies. 3. Los mejores lugares para surfear este fin de semana son:a) Playa Playitas y Isla Damas, aquí podemos encontrar las mejores olasde la zona. Además estos dos lugares son los más frecuentados por lossurfeadores por ser lugares para profesionales en el deporte del surf. 4. Hay alguna noticia o evento venidero? R/ No, por el momento no tenemos ninguna noticia ni evento venidero.

(1) Patti at Best Western, Tamarindo Vista Villas - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: SW bringing in 5+ waves. Will decrease on Friday and switch to south bringing in 4-6 waves through Monday. Conditions glassy with offshores in the am. For a barrel try Playa Grande. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): SW turning south on Saturday with 4-6 along south breaks. Rain coming in late afternoons with onshore/offshore winds throughout the day. Tides are good for early morning and midday surf. Swell will decrease on Monday and pick up from the SW on Thursday. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Playa Grande in the morning-glassy and 5+, Playa Negra walling up early am, Witch's picking up the swell and Ollie's missing out. T Bay for the fun waves, clean and glassy. It's Avellanes for low tide afternoon "fun", not big surf. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: It's the "Rabbit" and the Longboarding Legends are in the country.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Good morning tides with offshores and plenty of surf. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: The area around the hotel is fine unless it gets bigger in which case we'll slip down to the southren end of the bay near or at Tamarindo River mouth.
(3) From Kristain at Witches Rock !!!! - Surfers, Yesturday and today there has been a small swell about 6ft at witch´s and good winds.

(4) Hola desde Playa Hermosa de Jaco. Big Hello from Playa Hermosa http://fuegodelsol.com. We are under great south swell conditions. This morning we had Killer Lefts coming off the reef in front of the hotel. Yes, keikis, it looked like Pipe. Later this should turn more west. We surfed an overhead Boca Barranca this afternoon after we got majorly pitted and spit out. We are looking for medium conditions to continue through the week. The tides are much better now that we are at 3/4 moon again. High in the morning around 8am tomorrow, low in the afternoon. It helps to surf bigger waves without the bump. We are going to have kine plate lunches all week and this weekend we are havin a informal contest with killer freebies and great drinks. Islands born of Fire, Pura Vida!!!!!
(5) From Terraza del Pacifico in Hermosa - 3'-4'-5' FT. Southwest ocasionally 6' glassy surf morning-evening. Small swell will remain this way until mid-week Note: Clear SW 180°-210° by the 7,8,9 Aug (Double over head +) P.S: Triple overhead sets on deep water breaks by friday. by Cristian

R/ Mis queridos amigos, apesar de que no ha estado haciendo buen tiempo en Manuel Antonio tenemos olas bastantes buenas, suavez y tranquilas que miden entre 4 y 5 pies en marea alta,(buenas para realizar cualquier movimiento en una tabla). 2. Qué esperan este fin de semana con respecto al tiempo y las olas? R/ Esta es una pregunta un poquito difícil de responder porque el tiempo ha estado muy extraño y de seguir igual probablemente vamos ha tener, sol por la mañana y lluvia por la tarde. Pero también estamos seguros que tendremos olas buenisimas. 3. Cuál es el mejor lugar para surfear en su área este fin de semana? R/ Chicos el mejor lugar para surfear en esta pequeña pero hermosa área de Manuel Antonio es sin duda algúna PLAYA PLAYITAS, aquí podemos encontrarolas que no son solamente buenas sino también son muy consistentes. Además esta es la playa donde van la mayoría de los surfeadores (cási todos). 4. Hay algúna notocia o evento venidero? R/ Sí, el próximo 15 de agosto celabramos en todo Costa Rica el día de las MADRES. PURA VIDA, LA ESCUELA DE IDIOMAS D'AMORE.

BUT, large shifts in tides will push in some overhead surf 2 hours before high tide until dead high. (Then watch it drop fast with the tide going out) Check out the contest at Barranca.
Caribbean - A small East will leave this coast by Sunday, with waist high or less surf predicted through next Wednesday.
Pacifico - Las olas este fin de semana no serán grande, porque el swell esta moriendo y un otro no llega hasta el próximo jueves o viernes. Pero, cambias grandes en las mareas

(1) Patti at Best Western, Tamarindo Vista Villas - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Waves heights are waist to head high on south facing breaks. Glassy am, onshores early. Rain in Gunacaste throughout the day. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): It's small with only ocean swell till next Wed, when a good SW starts coming in to the northern pacific. Waist high to head high on south breaks only. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Dawn patrol at Playa Grande or Playa Avellanaes.
(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: The waves are running waist to shoulder high with good form. The wind is off shore in the morning and yesterday all day long with good waves up to just before high tide and then most of the way down till sunset. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Rain showers in the afternoon are helping with the off shores are should facilitate a few good sessions. The swell seems to be holding BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: In front of the hotel if it stays small.
(3) From Steve at Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa (next to Mal Pais) - *Report from Monday 8-9* WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Surf 2 - 3' through the weekend, glassy and fun. Building through Monday and Tuesday with sets coming in at 4-5' SW at longish intervals. Weather has become squallier so the swell is not too well organised but clean enough to ride in the a.m. FORECAST FOR THIS WEEKEND: Swell should continue to build through the week. Hoping it switches more to the south, as it is coming very square for the beachbreaks. Weather pattern (i.e. more rain) should continue now. BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA THIS WEEKEND: With the low tide moving into the a.m. Santa Teresa should be the place to find barrels this weekend.

AND IN ENGLISH !!! The conditions from the swell are improving, a fast right with a short tube section breaking in front of the hotel. No strong currents this morning. The weather is cloudy, hot, and humid from early in the morning. One wishes for the conditions to improve by 1 p.m., so that we have the swell filling in for Friday.

Caribbean - Low pressure systems keep the Caribbean side wet and choppy, with a slight E swell moving through by Saturday. Best day will be Friday.
Pacifico - El swell cambia a mas del sur para el fin de semana, y cae para martes en la noche. Un otro swell mas lejos de la playa debe empujar olas de 6 a 8 pies para el proximo jueves en la noche. El mejor día será viernes.

(1) Patti at Best Western, Tamarindo Vista Villas - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Gunacaste is showing 2-4 feet at most breaks. Lite offshores and switching to onshore early in the afternoon. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): a slight south swell is slowly coming up from South America. By Sunday, we should have 4-6' waves rolling in at south facing breaks. Weather, switching out of Indian summer breaking possible rain and onshores by Monday. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: It's coming from the south, Mal Pais, Playa Negra and Playa Avellannes may pick up the swell by Sunday. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: It's a 150 day countdown to the year 2000 at the Monkey Bar Best Western Tamarindo. Robert August and the boys are in town and heading the the "Rabbit" contest.
(2) From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Today the swell dropped to just overhead and the constant off shores that have made the surf so good this week stopped blowing by noon and came on shore. We still got about an hour of glassy waves before it blew out. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Daybreak sessions will begin to be possible by Sat., thus giving us the possibility of two high tide surf sessions every day. The morning sessions should be off shore and possible showers in the afternoon will help the shape in the afternoon. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: As long as the swell stays small, the area around the hotel are the best possibility. As it gets larger, the cleaner waves move towards the Tamarindo end of the bay.
(3) Steve from Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa - WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS. A powerful SW swell over the weekend with sets at 6' at Sta Teresa, not big or clean enough for reefs. Dropped to head high by Wednesday evening with occasional 4' sets. Squally weather has prevented surf cleaning up for the a.m. sesh a couple of times. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: Looks like more of the same, hoping that the weather stabilises to bring us a few days of fun, clean surf. BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA THIS WEEKEND: Playa Carmen still has too much new sand in the line up to hold shape for the bigger stuff. Santa Teresa is the spot that's still working best round the tides. Best call is Teresa a.m. and Carmen if it glasses off in the evening and isn't too big.

(4) Hola, desde Hotel Fuego del Sol, Playa Hermosa. http://fuegodelsol.com We have a southwest swell that is giving us overhead conditions. The camp surfed overhead with bomber cleanup sets at the Camp. We will have high tide at around 3 p.m. Get out and get some. Pura vida !!

Glassy nice peaks with incoming tide. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Swell will weaken, rain in afternoons probably drop to head high BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Probably Tulin at low tide, Hermosa at high NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Rabbit Longboard Contest at Barranca starting next week in Puntarenus.

(7) From Hotel Rio Lindo in Dominical - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Waves have been in the 6 - 8 foot face range with bigger sets with incoming tide. Lots of tubes and lots of rain. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: The waves stay the same until Sunday, with better form for Pavones. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: The point will offer superclean long smaller surf until 10 a.m., then surf again at the beachbreak at sunset. UPCOMING EVENTS: Just the Rock every Saturday night for the best disco (and ladies) for miles around. And Paco's Pollo and Pool Bar has just opened for the best chicken, fruit drinks, and sunsets in town.

(3) Steve from Tropico Latino Lodge in Santa Teresa - WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS. A powerful SW swell over the weekend with sets at 6' at Sta Teresa, not big or clean enough for reefs. Dropped to head high by Wednesday evening with occasional 4' sets. Squally weather has prevented surf cleaning up for the a.m. sesh a couple of times. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: Looks like more of the same, hoping that the weather stabilises to bring us a few days of fun, clean surf. BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA THIS WEEKEND: Playa Carmen still has too much new sand in the line up to hold shape for the bigger stuff. Santa Teresa is the spot that's still working best round the tides. Best call is Teresa a.m. and Carmen if it glasses off in the evening and isn't too big.

Glassy nice peaks with incoming tide. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Swell will weaken, rain in afternoons probably drop to head high BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Probably Tulin at low tide, Hermosa at high NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: Rabbit Longboard Contest at Barranca starting next week in Puntarenus.

AND IN ENGLISH !!!! The conditions of the swell are getting better, a fast right, with a tube section that is breaking in front of the hotel Terraza, there is not strong currents this morning. The weather is cloudy, hot, and humid from early en la mañana. It's hoped that conditions will improve for the afternoon since the swell is starting to fill in for Friday.

(7) From Hotel Rio Lindo in Dominical - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS: Waves have been in the 6 - 8 foot face range with bigger sets with incoming tide. Lots of tubes and lots of rain. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: The waves stay the same until Sunday, with better form for Pavones. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: The point will offer superclean long smaller surf until 10 a.m., then surf again at the beachbreak at sunset. UPCOMING EVENTS: Just the Rock every Saturday night for the best disco (and ladies) for miles around. And Paco's Pollo and Pool Bar has just opened for the best chicken, fruit drinks, and sunsets in town.
