2) From Jenny - messy, not good form, 1.5 meters, only 3-4 people in the water
3) From Monday until today the waves have improved in size. In Junquillal it's 5-7 feet. At the point, known as the ranch, it's fast and powerful. In the morning the wind is from the north and onshore in the p.m. By then it's best to save it for the next day.
JACO & HERMOSA (JH)
4) way overhead today at tuline. Reef and points going off also glassy almost till noon
5) 3-5 faces, 6-8 foot in Hermosa, caught good Barranca in the a.m.

7) The wave conditions are glassy and "pura vida" for surfing. The surfers here hope for great waves due to the big tide shifts on Friday and Saturday. Now, Manuel Antonio has lots of sunshine.

Dawn patrols 2-3 hours before high tide yielded BARRELS galore, 6-9 foot faces, and a few closeouts. Had a little jellyfish early in the week.

3) If the swell rises, there will be tubes at the best spots Avellanas, Negra, Ostional, and the Ranch in Junquillal. Hoping for big surf with offshore winds in the morning y switching in the p.m.

4)I can't tell you, I don't want the spot crowded. Go to tuline or terraza, and if you see me out at the other spot you'll know you're at the right spot.

7) Local surfers think Playitas is the best, but check the Damas rivermouth, Playa el Rey, Dominical, and Matapalo as well.

Pacifico - Noroeste hasta la próxima miercoles, pues un oleaje grande de sudoeste viene (NO aparece como un SO porque del viento Papagayo)
Caribean - Este, tormenta pequeña empujando un oleaje pequeño
TAMANA DE LAS OLAS y CONDICIÓNES -
NICOYA (N)
2) de Jenny - olas no tienen forma buena, 1.5 metros, solo 3-4 personas en el mar en frente del hotel.
3) Del lunes hasta esta fecha se a observado un mejoramiento en el tamaño de la ola. Aqui en playa Junquillal esta entre 1.5 metros y los 2 metros. En el punto conocido como el rancho la ola esta magnifica rapida y fuerte. Por la mañana el viento esta norte y de mediodia en adelante el "on shore" se hace precente y es mejor guardar la tablita para el otro dia.
JACO Y HERMOSA (JH)
4) sobrecabeza muchos veces hoy a Tulin. Arrecife y puntos tienen olas buenas. Y suave hasta casi mediadía.
5) 3-5 pies en Jaco, 6-8 pies en Hermosa, andaba Barranca buena por la madrugada.
6) Olas en Jaco son 6 pies con sets mas grandes, lineas divertidas, y algunas "closeouts". Sur de Hermosa, olas sobre 10 pies esta mañana. Muy clara, con vientos fuertes onshore en la tarde.

7) Las condiciones de las olas son pura vida o sea suaves, tranquilos y claras (aptas para surfear). Los muchacho de la playa (surfeadores) esperan los dias viernes y sábado de esta semana olas grandes, porque las noticias aseguran que habrá una marea muy alta y en cuanto al tiempo aún no sabemos, de momento tenemos buen sol en Manuel Antonio.

Surfeando por la madrugada traido TUBOS, 6-9 pies caras, y algunas "closeouts". Unas aguamalas estaban en el mar mas temprano en la semana.

3) Si el swell tiende a subir todos aquellos podran coger algunos tubos. Los mejores lugares para surfear esta semana son Avellanas, playa Negra, Ostional y el Rancho en Junquillal. Para el fin de semana se pueden esperar olas grandes con off shore en la mañana y on shore por la tarde.

4) No puedo decir, no quiero mucha gente al lugar. Vaya a Tulin o Terraza, y me ve a la otra playa, va a saber que esta en el mejor lugar para olas.

7) Algunas surfeadores de la zona opinan que Playa Playitas es mejor lugar para realizar este deporte, también en la Boca de la Isla Damas, Playa el Rey, Playa Dominical y Playa Matapalo.

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) & CONDITIONS --
NICOYA (N)
1) A slight sw swell is on the Guanacaste coast, bringing in chest high to overhead waves during the incoming and outgoing high tide. Wave conditions are glassy, with the offshore winds blowing throughout the day. Playa Grande in the early afternoon is holding with clean waves. A small front moving thru South America is bringing in clouds to Guanacaste making the water temperature cooler than normal.
2) 3-5, basicaly smooth with offshore ripple
3) The good conditions have changed a little from the last time, still a NW swell is coming with offshore winds, and 3-4 foot waves. For now, just hope for the swell to rise.
4) I love surfing and no other sport is equal to it. Here in Playa Junquillal there are 3 secret spots where the wave is strong and not for novices, but this week the ocean was quiet and there wasn't waves in Playa Negra nor Avellanas. Wave size is 4 feet and gets smaller. The wind is offshore all day and the water is clear. I also want to tell you that in Playa Lagartillo there's a reef with 6 foot and bigger waves.

6) Jaco was definitely getting bigger. Jonny said the water was warm and clear with no winds in the a.m.

7) Tide chart measures Playitas at 9 ft. at high tide. Rain has fallen at night, but during the day the climate is fantastic, with light offshores all day. Waves are always consistent and glassy. Only a little sea lice and strong current.

The beachbreak is knee high, with some chest to head sets once every 15 minutes around the high tide. Choppy after 9 a.m. Rain in the late afternoon or after dark.

1)Waves should continue over the weekend with fun board waves. It should be clean, glassy but under head high. All exposed south or west facing beaches should have some fun surf throughout the weekend. A new ssw swell should be showing by late Monday night bringing conditions next week to 2+ overhead thru Thursday. Playa Grande, Playa Avellanes and Playa Langosta (in T-Bay), head high with good winds and a good wave roll to the beach.

1) Un swell de sudoeste esta en las playas de Guanacaste, con olas de 5-7 pies durante la marea alta. Condiciónes son maravillas, con los vientos offshore entre todo el día. Playa Grande temprano en la tarde esta manteniendo olas buenas. Una tormenta pequeña esta moviendo entre Sur Americano y trayendo nublas a Guanacaste cambiando la tempuratura del agua a mas frío.
2) 3 a 5 pies, suave con offshore rizo
3) Bueno las condiciones para surfear han cambiado un poco desde la ultima vez ya que esta entrando un swell de el noroeste con vientos offshore, acondicionando las olas con un pormedio de tres a cuatro pies. Por este momento nada mas es de esperar ya que el oleaje esta empezando a subir a si es que si esta en camino para Guanacaste, puede ser que dé con una gran sorpresa.

EN JUNQUILLAL LA OLA ESTA COMO DE METRO A MEDIA CRECIENTE Y CUANDO COMPLETA SALE UNA QUE OTRA OLITA. EL VIENTO ESTA DE MARAVILLA (OFF SHORE) TODO EL DIA EL AGUA TOTALMENTE CRISTALINA. 6) Jaco estuvo creciendo. Jonny dijo el agua estuvo caliente y claro con no viento en la mañana.

7) Según el reporte Mareográfico, en PLAYA PLAYITAS, las olas están midiendo aproximadamente 9.06 pies de alto durante la marea alta. Ha caído un poco de lluvia por la noche, pero por el día tenemos un clima fantástico con buen sol y viento tranquilo durante la mañana y durante la tarde (clima ideal para todo). Las olas siempre son claras, consistentes, buenas y tranquilas. Unicamente hilo de oro (agua viva) y corrientes un poco fuertes.

Las olas en frente de Dominical miden 2 pies, con sets de 4-6 pies un vez cada 15 minutos alrededor marea alta. Olas agitada despues de 9 en la mañana. Lluvia en la tarde o despues de la puesta del sol.
CARIBEAN (C)
8) 3 pies, mucha lluvia y tormentas
PRONÓSTICO y MEJOR LUGAR -
NICOYA (N)
1) Olas deben continuar sobre el fin de semana para "funboards". Debe estar clara y transparente pero menos de 6 pies. Todos las playas del sur e oeste debe tener olas buenas entre todo el fin de semana. Un nuevo oleaje debe mostrarse para lunes trayendo condiciónes de 2 pies sobrecabeza hasta jueves. Grande, Avellanes, y Langosta tendrán vientos buenos y una ola suave hasta la playa.

3) Estoy esperando que manifieste este swell por las playas mas reconocidas por su perfeccion para surfear como lo es playa Negra, Avellanas, Langosta, el estero y la piedra de Tamarindo, playa Grande y muchas otras mas.

1)Waves should continue over the weekend with fun board waves. It should be clean, glassy but under head high. All exposed south or west facing beaches should have some fun surf throughout the weekend. A new ssw swell should be showing by late Monday night bringing conditions next week to 2+ overhead thru Thursday. Playa Grande, Playa Avellanes and Playa Langosta (in T-Bay), head high with good winds and a good wave roll to the beach.

1) Un swell de sudoeste esta en las playas de Guanacaste, con olas de 5-7 pies durante la marea alta. Condiciónes son maravillas, con los vientos offshore entre todo el día. Playa Grande temprano en la tarde esta manteniendo olas buenas. Una tormenta pequeña esta moviendo entre Sur Americano y trayendo nublas a Guanacaste cambiando la tempuratura del agua a mas frío.
2) 3 a 5 pies, suave con offshore rizo
3) Bueno las condiciones para surfear han cambiado un poco desde la ultima vez ya que esta entrando un swell de el noroeste con vientos offshore, acondicionando las olas con un pormedio de tres a cuatro pies. Por este momento nada mas es de esperar ya que el oleaje esta empezando a subir a si es que si esta en camino para Guanacaste, puede ser que dé con una gran sorpresa.

6) Jaco estuvo creciendo. Jonny dijo el agua estuvo caliente y claro con no viento en la mañana.

7) Según el reporte Mareográfico, en PLAYA PLAYITAS, las olas están midiendo aproximadamente 9.06 pies de alto durante la marea alta. Ha caído un poco de lluvia por la noche, pero por el día tenemos un clima fantástico con buen sol y viento tranquilo durante la mañana y durante la tarde (clima ideal para todo). Las olas siempre son claras, consistentes, buenas y tranquilas. Unicamente hilo de oro (agua viva) y corrientes un poco fuertes.

Las olas en frente de Dominical miden 2 pies, con sets de 4-6 pies un vez cada 15 minutos alrededor marea alta. Olas agitada despues de 9 en la mañana. Lluvia en la tarde o despues de la puesta del sol.

PRONÓSTICO y MEJOR LUGAR -
NICOYA (N)
1) Olas deben continuar sobre el fin de semana para "funboards". Debe estar clara y transparente pero menos de 6 pies. Todos las playas del sur e oeste debe tener olas buenas entre todo el fin de semana. Un nuevo oleaje debe mostrarse para lunes trayendo condiciónes de 2 pies sobrecabeza hasta jueves. Grande, Avellanes, y Langosta tendrán vientos buenos y una ola suave hasta la playa.

T Bay - head high to overhead, showing throughout the week at all southwest facing beaches. No reported pests. Witch's & Ollies' has been showing headhigh waves and should continue until Saturday. Winds are running off-shore all day and gusts of 40 knots are blowing down wavecaps. Best surfing conditions early morning. Down to one surf session a day on all reef breaks. Some sand breaks are holding through the day.

Jaco 3-4 feet, Hermosa was bigger @ 6- feet with some boomer sets, unamed rocky point near roca loca was big and gnarly mid day Glassy in the a.m. onshore hard til 4 p.m. then slight glass off. Water is super clean and swell real clean too. No bugs or sea lice today just a few dolphins !
QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
Sunday - Tuesday we have enjoyed PURA VIDA weather, with lots of sun. The wind has been calm, but a little choppy in the afternoon. According to the surfers, waves are glassy, breaking clean. A little jellyfish detachments that might sting (random) have been found, but aren't a big deal.

Thur. morning was chest to overhead with long sections. 10kt south winds blowing but waves kept form, bigger closeouts every 12 minutes. Partly Cloudy
CARIBBEAN (C)
Waves are still about 3ft, Salsa was giving some action in the morning.

Not much happening in the surf over the early part of next week, however a new Pacific cycle is showing swell coming in around the 19th of March. Keep an eye on Playa Grande, Playa Negra for a dawn patrol surf out in the am.

El bahía es 6 a 7 pies, mostrando entre la semana a todas playas del sudoeste. No agua malas. Witch's y Ollie's han mostrado 6 pies y debe conseguir hasta sabado. Vientos son 40 kts. y offshore. Los mejores condiciónes son temprano. Solomente puede surfear un vez a olas arrecifes pero playas de arena estan mantiendo entre el día.

Jaco 3 a 4 pies, Hermosa fue mas grande con olas de 6 pies con sets fuertes, sin llamada punto cerca de Roca Loca fue gordo media día. Tranquila en la mañana, viento onshore hasta 4, entonces tranquila un vez mas. El mar esta muy limpia y el swell tambien. Nada mala, solo delfines en el agua.

El domingo, el lunes y el martes hemos gozado de un clima PURA VIDA en Manuel Antonio, con sol fuerte (fantástico). El viento por la mañana ha estado tranquilo, pero por la tarde ha estado un poco agitado.
Según los muchachos de la playa (SURFEADORES ) las OLAS han estado tranquilas, reventando suavemente y
muy claras. HILO DE ORO (agua viva). HILO DE ORO son las extremidades que se les desprenden a algunas medusas y quedan en la orilla de la playa; dichas extremidades ortigan (they sting) y el dolor que las personas sienten es similar al de una cortada.

Jueves en la mañana tuvo olas de 5 a 7 pies con partes largos. Vientos de 10kt pero olas mantenieron buena forma, closeouts mas grande todos los doce minutos. En parte nublado.

At Langosta with this swell you can surf almost all day, preferebly at mid-tide. For the tired surfers, Pasatiempo rooms has A/C, terrace, hammock, pool, and one of the best restaurants in town with pool tables and good prices.

indicando la bienvenida de un swell norteño. Para este fin de semana los mejores lugares para surfear son: Playa Avellanas,Langosta ,Playa Grande, El estero, la piedra en Playa Tamarindo a con olas aproximadamente de 2 pies overhead; surfeables en condicion de viento off-shore dandole a la ola la perfeccion para tubear izquierda o derecha aconsejando darle bien tempranito como a partir de las 5:00 am ya que en la tarde por lo general las condiciones del viento cambian y la surfeada es un poco mas agitada, pero aun asi se le pude dar. En Langosta con este swell se puede surfear casi todo el dia preferiblemente secando o con la marea media llena. Para los surfeadores cansados de toda esta surfeada,con olas perfectas acá en el Hotel Pasatiempo tenemos habitaciones todas con A/C , terraza, amaca,piscina y uno de los mejores restaurantes de tamarindo con precios bien comodos, un bar con exelente atencion personalizada , mesa de pool, y un hambiente bien acogedor. Asi es que aca en Guanacaste es el lugar ideal para surfear este fin de

Surf spots - Playa Avellanes, Playa Negra (sw facing beaches) coming in with chest high to head high conditions. A 220+ is supposed to be coming in on Thursday, however the Navy buoys are showing a slight swell that should bring in head high to double overhead on deep water sw facing beaches and hold through the weekend. Ollie's and Witch's should pick it up and tides are good for noon to six surf outs. 2) Playa Grande picking up nicely with a good head high ride in the early afternoons. 3) Waves have been clean early a.m. and the winds are switching out to onshore in the afternoons causing choppy but some clean wave sets. 5) No new pests but a little red tide being picked up in the bay. 6) The "legends" are coming in! Golf tournament in Rancho Las Colinas Feb. 26-28.

A 220+ is supposed to be coming in on Thursday, however the Navy buoys are showing a slight swell that should bring in head high to double overhead on deep water sw facing beaches and hold through the weekend. Ollie's and Witch's should pick it up and tides are good for noon to six surf outs. 2) Playa Grande picking up nicely with a good head high ride in the early afternoons. 3) Waves have been clean early a.m. and the winds are switching out to onshore in the afternoons causing choppy but some clean wave sets. 5) No new pests but a little red tide being picked up in the bay. 6) The "legends" are coming in! Golf tournament in Rancho Las Colinas Feb. 26-28.

Watch the south facing beaches on Thursday next week as a big 220+ SW comes in with 7+ waves on all south and SW facing beaches. 2) Wave size over the next few days should be waist to head high with some occasional higher sets. 3) Wind direction is mostly offshore in the a.m. and turning to a north side wind in the afternoons. Next week with the South coming in, we should have
steady winds offshore with a switch in the p.m. to southerly. 4) Winds up, waves a little choppy, a.m. is staying clean and glassy. 5) The whales have been spotted and there is a little sea lice in the water. 6) Lots of good surf finally coming in on Friday-next week.

1) There are two excellent places to surf in M.A. For example, Playitas is to the north of M.A. and is small, but has very big waves for surfers with more experience. Another is Playa Espadilla, to the south of M.A., inside the national park, which has smaller waves for those who want to learn or have little experience in the sport. 2) In Playitas the waves appear to be 3 to 4 feet, and Espadilla around 3 feet. 3/4) In the summer, generally it's hot, humid, and sunny with clear skies more so in the morning, and with cool breezes. 5) Mostly there is nothing dangerous, but you need a little caution and prevention, some places can have sea-lice and strong currents 6) On the 18th of February, there will be a Surf Contest in Playitas. They rent boards there. Also happening is the Festival of the Sea in Quepos, from the 18th to the 21st, with carriages, a carnival, and lots of partying.

recomendada para la gente que ya tiene experiencia en el Surf. Luego está Playa Espadilla, al sur de Playas Manuel Antonio, dentro del Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio, tiene olas de menor magnitud especial para los que quieren aprender o tienen poca experiencia en ese deporte. 2) En Playa Playitas las olas miden aproximadamente de tres a cuatro pies y en Playa Espadilla las olas son alrededor de dos a tres pies de altura. 3/4) En los meses de verano, generalmente es muy caliente, muy húmedo, con mucho sol y cielo despejado, por las mañanas es mucho más despejado que por la tardes, el viento es suave, con un poco de brisa ideal para cualquier deporte que se desee practicar. 5) Generalmente, no se corre ningún peligro en estás playas, solo se necesita un poco de cuidado y de prevención, los lugareños dicen que se puede encontrar casos aislados de "Hilo de Oro" y corrientes muy fuertes. 6) En cuánto a deportes se refiere, el 18 de Febrero se realizará un Campeonato Nacional de Surf en Playa Playitas. En el lugar rentan tablas de surf, así que si no trae la suya, no se preocupe, aquí la

From Darryl, the bartender at the Copacabana (643-3131) hotcopa@aol.com 1) Hermosa to Tulin. 2) 3-5 ft in Hermosa, 2-3 ft in Jaco. 3) No wind to light offshores early, onshores by 9 a.m. but light wind after 3 p.m. 4) A little closed-out but plenty of makeable sections, water clear & clean. 5) No unwelcome critters here. 6) Last weekend before school starts, lots of people enjoying the beach

From Patti at The Monkey Bar & Best Western - Vista Villas Tamarindo "Guanacaste's Surf Connection" (653-0114) tamvv@sol.racsa.co.cr . 1) We have a small SW coming in through Friday and then should increase. Check Playa Grande early morning. Ollie's Point and Witch's Rock should pick up the incoming SW on Friday with clean conditions. 2) Waves are waist to head high and should go to overhead by Sat. on South and SW facing beaches. High-tide Thur. - 5:17am and 5:30 pm. It's a big and fast turn in the tide, but early in the water for a dawn patrol surf out! 3) Weather is awesome - winds blowing steady offshore all day. Gusts coming in at 40 knots which is blowing some of the surf down. 4) Waves are staying glassy with some backwash due to the winds. 5) We have no pests....6) Talk is going around for a "legends" surf contest in June or July.

As I write this report there are already 5 surfers catching early morning waves in front. 2) 7 feet 3) The wind is blowing from the southeast and the rain which we have had in the last couple of days has stopped. 4) Slightly turbulent. 5) Nothing 6) Jaguar's normal rates are $55 and $70 for a double room, but we have a surfer special of $150 for a 4 night stay for a double room, with taxes and full breakfast included.

Marea alta jueves - 5:17 y 5:30. Mareas cambian rapido, pero temprano en el mar para un "dawn patrol" 3) La clima es excelente - vientos offshore todo el día. Ráfagas de 40 knots a veces..4) Olas mantiendo suaves con algo oleaje a causa de los vientos 5) Nada 6) Hablada esta yendo alrededor por un torneo "legends" del surf en junio o julio.
