AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (4/13)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Yesterday (Sat. ) was alittle too big and raw but everything now is lining up for some great surf with the morning high tides and offshores.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): Perfect conditions

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The surf at Playa Negra has been waist to head high with fair to good shape. Sunny and light offshores in the mornings but turning onshore well before noon. The last few days has had rain the in afternoons. The seasons are changing. The water temp is 82 degrees.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): The waves will be picking up over the weekend and into the first part of the upcoming week. A steep angle South swell will make it's way to the best exposed south facing beaches with head high plus surf and some bigger sets every hour. Still great beach weather. Don't forget your sunscreen.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: We have high tide running through the mornings this week so check out Playa Negra early. You'll find head high plus surf and not a lot of people out here. The crowd gets thick around 8:00.

** From Brice at Land Assurance in Dominical - (4/12)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: A bad back and a lot of work has kept me from doing any surfing over the small days of last week. Today, the swell arrived and it looks nice at the beach; I'll be out tomorrow. The point doesn't seem to be very large even though the swell shows it should be but I'll have to pick between the point or the beach for tomorrow.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): The swell will peak tonight (Saturday) and go down during the week. Should be big enough to have good fun through Wednesday.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: Either the point or the beach. We'll see tomorrow.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (4/5)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The swell is holding, but the high tides have moved into the afternoon and the early onshore wind has been blowing it out.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): Evening glass offs are possible.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: Check the main peak first.

** From Rafael at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (4/2) -

Today the waves look great in the morning, offshore wind and sizes 3ft to 5ft really good for all the surfer but in the afternon the wind change to chopped and onshore conditions..

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (4/5)

Playa Negra has been in the head high range with fair to good shape. Low tide in the mornings has made the place tube city with lots of ins and outs. Light offshore wind early but coming onshore by about 9:00 the last few mornings. More perfect beach weather and 81 degrees for the ocean. We have smaller surf on tap for the next few days. Waist to head high as small pulses of SW move through our little corner of paradise. By mid week coming up we will see more long period swells out of the SW with at least head high surf and probably bigger on the sets. Start looking for rain clouds in the afternoons as the rainy season gets closer.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Naked dancing girls on the beach at Playa Negra. www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (4/7)

Surf is looking super fun this morning in the waist to chest high range with
some larger sets.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (4/5) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Good swell direction - clean head high surf most of the day. Weather is beautiful

** From Chuck at Walking on Water Surf Shop in Jaco (4/5)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Nice clean waves and the tides are getting better ! Just checked Oeste and it was waist to chest and so glassy and tide high dropping and just the lowtide lounge peak with one guy out ! Hermosa was a bit bumpy but Jaco was clean if a bit dumpy ! Just got the new WEBBER SLX boards in and they are so hot ! Also received a batch of new Channel Islands in directly from Santa Barbara ! Here in our Surfer owned and operated SURF SHOP have no fear ! We only carry the real thing and only quality product yeah we know you can find a big label board at way too good to be true pricing well think about maybe it is too good to be true ! If its real its going to cost a bit but those that know and surf well will be able to tell the difference , it takes a long time to build up a reputation as a top notch board manufacturer and NOONE just gives that up to someone else . It takes time and dedication to be one of the best in the world and that's why they [the best] Channel Islands and Eric Arakawa choose us to handle their boards at our store along with a select couple of new ethical INDEPENDENT SURF SHOP AFFILIATES and yes you can check it out at their sites ands see whats really going on ! DON'T GET TAKEN BY UNETHICAL LABEL STICKING SURFBOARD MANUFACTURERS ! If you want a local hand shape see Carton from Carton surfboards he has the ba--s to build his own boards and does a great job at it and doesn't have to BURN anyone else to sell his boards and doesn't cut corners to produce some low quality boards to sell to the unknowing ! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR y LO BARATO SALE CARO ! Support only real surfshops with real surfboards and real product who also support SURFING ! Thanks ! Oh and congratulations to Lupe Gallucio on her new sponsorship with Rip Curl and Dragon , she will be a nice addition to the RC crew along with Mattias Braun who just did a fantastic job in Panama ! PURA VIDA ! Chuck and the CREW at WOW SURF !

Overview - The Caribbean has turned off the tap this week, dropping from chest to head Sunday down to knee to waist by Wednesday. Nothing showing from the East until late Saturday.

The Nicoya Peninsula enjoys clean rippable surf for the early week, and then starts to pick up to overhead waves for Wednesday. Thursday and Friday has big surf with lots of closeouts, but by Sunday tapers off to overhead. Farther south has some bigger waves and a good direction, SSW, for the points. After this swell, it looks quiet for the following week with headhigh to overhead conditions.

AREA REPORTS

** From Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas in Playa Grande (3/29)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Today this well overhead and messy swell settled down some and the off shores fanned off some just overhead beauties.

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): The next few days should be pretty good with the morning high tides and light crowds.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: There are peaks everywhere.

** From Rafael at Witchs Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo (3/28) -

Today I went to Avellanas with all the school, the conditions helped a lot with offshre wind and good barrels. Today was that perfect day for all the guests, the sizes 2ft to 5ft and clean wavesPura Vida..

** From Carlos at Costa Rica Aventuras in Playa de Coco (3/27) -

** From photographer John Lyman, Lyman Photos in Playa Negra - (3/29)

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: We've been having a great run of really good surf for the last couple weeks. If you haven't been here, you really missed it. But it's not too late. The waves will continue with head high to a couple feet over head through the end of the month and into the first week of April. Look for the perfect beach weather to continue as well with those offshores blowing into the morning hours, coming onshore by about 2:00 in the afternoons. Water temp is a chilly 74 degrees from all the upwelling by the strong offshore wind. High tide runs through the mornings this week so get out there early and beat the crowd.

NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS- Noticias y dias especiales: Naked dancing girls on the beach at Playa Negra. www.lymanphotos.sbpix.com

** From Steve at Coconut Harrys Surf Shop in Playa Guiones (3/29) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: The waves are 4-5 ft with some nice overhead sets. The wind has been offshore in the morning until about 11 a.m. The last few days have been fantastic!!

WHAT TO EXPECT (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar (clima y olas): The swell is supposed to back off the next couple of days but a new south is on the way for Tues.-Wed. The waves should still be chest to overhead and fun. Go early before the winds change and also check the sunset waves. The wind has been backing down nicely at night.

BEST PLACE TO SURF IN YOUR AREA - El mejor lugar a surfear en su area: Playa Guiones has been firing with rights and lefts. For a bigger thrill you can always head down to Camoranal for some heavier bigger waves.

** From Erik at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (3/30)

Surf this morning is looking fun in the chest to maybe a bit bigger range... I will be taking out the twinnie today, trying to get a few... Should be another great morning in paradise!!! E.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (3/29) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Well overhead - lots of juice. Wind gets on it in the afternoon.

** From Chuck at Walking on Water Surf Shop in Jaco (3/15)-

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Want a real good deal on a new stick, we have few 07s we are blowing out but they are selling fast, mention you saw this note on CRSURF and we will pass on some unreal deals ! Chuck and the CREW !

** From Matt at SurfingNosara.com in Playa Guiones - (3/22)

Fun sized surf today with good shape. Marq was out there trying out a new board today. Why you might ask???? Well, Magic has some 5 star days on the forecast. That's right. Wed, Thurs and Fri are 6.5, 6, and 6 foot, respectively with a 16 second period from a favorable direction. Let's hope they are right because lets face it, head high waves are getting a bit hackneyed at this point. Don't get me wrong, these waves are tons of fun, we all love to surf them but its nice to get the adrenaline pumping every now and again. Besides, the wipeout photos are WAY better when its pumping, and who doesn't like a good wipeout shot. Check out the shot of Marq and Big Daddy sharing a wave. The poor guy on the longboard paddling back out became a speed bump for a brief moment.

** From Hotel Buenisimo in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais (3/22) -

AREA WAVE HEIGHTS AND CONDITIONS - Tamano de las olas y condiciones: Head high, good conditions in the morning. Windy mush in the afternoon.

** From Chuck at Walking on Water Surf Shop in Jaco (3/15)-

Want a real good deal on a new stick, we have few 07s we are blowing out but they are selling fast, mention you saw this note on CRSURF and we will pass on some unreal deals ! Chuck and the CREW !

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): As high tide moves into the late afternoon, the wind becomes the major issue for these consistent swell conditions.

** From Steve at Coconut Harrys Surf Shop in Playa Guiones (3/22) -

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves) - Que va a pasar este fin de semana (clima y olas): The swell looks like it will continue through the weekend.
