Today it was rough in the morning at high tide but smoothed out this afternoon when the wind went offshore. It is still raw and tricky in the several feet overhead range. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): High tide is in the morning and the waves should be good till the tide moves into the afternoon next week. There will be some afternoon surf if it rains and glasses off with the tides becoming right for Tamarindo in the afternoon over the week end. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Out in front of the hotel in the morning, and then in the afternoon if it glasses off. Later in the week at Tamarindo in the morning and evening.
(3) From Hotel del Paris in Nosara - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy/choppy): 4-6' ALL THE TIME / SOME SETS WITH 8' GLASSY IN THE MORNING AND A LITLE BIT CHOPPY IN THE AFTERNOON WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): BEST WAVES COMING SINCE 3 WEEKS BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: GUIONES IN FRONT OF THE PALM TREE NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: EVERY NIGHT AT THE CAFE DE PARIS NBA SEMIFINAL ON TV AND NBA FINAL
(5) From Steve Longrigg at Tropico Latino - Santa Teresa has been excellent the last few days a.m. overhead sets, tubes, glassy.
JACO & HERMOSA (JH)
(6) From Hotel Fuego del Sol- http://fuegodelsol.com - Hello from Playa Hermosa, Jaco - It's bombing right now at Terrazzas (4-6ft) where we saw some local talent in the deepest barrels I've seen in a while. There is a BIG SWELL (9-12ft seas) on the way so, that should surely wake up our reefs which are about 4ft. right now. They should get 8ft. plus and the beaches will be closed out and Points will be good our next swell prediction Definitely, know your limits along our beaches. There has been a lot of injuries especially, on our reefs and points with wackly tides. PURA VIDA!!!!!

NICOYA (N)
(1) Patti at Best Western, Tamarindo Vista Villas AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy/choppy): It's a week of small surf with wave heights at high tide 4-6' at some south breaks. Conditions are remaining glassy in the a.m. with offshore winds and then turning onshore early. With high tides this week, we are down to one surf session a day midday to early afternoon. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): More of the same with a Southwest 220 and a south/south west 190 all exposed south/west facing beaches should pick up the swell with 5+ in some areas. Rain is here in Gunacaste so watch for the storms, stay clear of any lightning, but it will glass off. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: South west facing beaches - Playa Negra and T bay should be good. A new sw 220 should come in by next Wed. Check out Playa Grande for the incoming high tides. NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS: It's tranquillo in Tamarindo. Enjoy the surf!!!
(2) Nela from Las Tortugas Hotel in Playa Grande - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy/choppy): The swell has been running at about head high to overhead and a half with some bigger sets. It appears to be coming straight in with the edge of it hitting Tamarindo river mouth. Yesterday it was raw and bumpy and today it has settled down considerably. The wind is light offshore in the morning and during every other day downpours. WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): More of the same with the critical high tide moving into the afternoon with less chance of off shores at high tide. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: In front of the hotel at high tide and the Playa Grande side of the Tamarindo river mouth during incoming tide in the morning.
(3) From Hotel del Paris in Nosara - AREA WAVE HEIGHTS (faces) AND CONDITIONS (glassy): 4 to 5 feet. Windy all day that disturb the waves. Kind of glassy after the rain (almost everyday) WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND (weather and waves): Saturday it will less wind and nicer shape to become good on Sunday. Hope 5 to 6 feet. BEST PLACE TO SURF THIS WEEKEND IN YOUR AREA: Guiones

(5) From Chuck at Surf Outfitters & Chosita del Surf - Surfs 3'- 4' foot faces with bigger sets, big storm offshore, plenty of rain and its making the beach breaks a little peakier than lately. (5) From Hotel Fuego del Sol- http://fuegodelsol.com - Big Hello from Playa Hermosa, We surfed mostly Boca Barranca (3-4 ft. 300 yrd. rides) this week on the medium to large swell prediction we saw from last weeks maps. Since the swell was so, south and, large, most beaches along Playa Hermosa were closing out. It was double overhead solid 6-8ft out there with thick 8 ft. clean ups. The guests were bored and tired of surfing Barranca for the third epic. So, we went to the reefs. We surfed at Escondida (3-4ft perfect) and Little Fiji where it was sectioney. We are looking at more from the south for the weekend. So, the reefs will get swell from the size; but, it won't be ALL TIME without something from the west. Surf those south facing beaches this weekend. No doubt, it will still have size through Friday. It may trim down for Sun. but it is supposed to come right back up. Pura Vida & Happy Southern Hemis!!!

(7) Ed.'s house, Casa del Mar, Dominical - saw a big incresae in swell Thursday from a big tide shift to high mixed with the faint beginnings of a nice swell pattern. It appears a strong SW off New Zealand with smaller fronts will create a long fetch to send up surf from the south. Today it jumped from a weak waist high to some over head sets after a small rain shower that brouht offshore winds. I expect to grow each day, until consistent 8-10+ foot (face) sets come by Monday and stay until next weekend. NICOYA (N)
(1) waves throughout guanacaste are coming in at 2+ overhead to double overhead. Conditions are glassy in the am with offshore winds and switching in the afternoon to onshore.
(2) 6-8, slightly choppy
(3) all weekend the waves were big and powerful with some at 2.5 meters, winds smoothing it out early, but choppy in the p.m.
(4) Yesterday at the Tam. rivermouth, 7 foot glassy surf, with consistent sets and a little choppy. In the morning, the conditions changed a little - calmer with offshores for a nice barrel.
JACO & HERMOSA (JH)
(5) JACO -TOO BIG CLOSING OUT / HERMOSA- DOUBLE OVERHEAD; ROCA LOCA / HERRADURA- DOUBLE OVERHEAD+ GLASSY IN THE A.M. LIGHT ON SHORES 9:00-10:30
QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
(6) the waves presently are great due to the swell that is hitting Costa Rica. Wave heights are waist to head high and the wave conditions have been a little choppy with the afternoon winds.
DOMINICAL (D)
Beach break has been closing out, from 1 hour after high tide until an hour before the next one. But it's big - 10 to 12 foot sets, the point has been firing. Light onshores after 10, but nothing major.
CARIBBEAN (C)
(7) Salsa Brava 1-2', Beachbreak 2-3' 3-4 min. intervals, Bright sunny, hot. Wind offshore, slight
FORECASTS & BEST SPOT --
NICOYA (N)
(1) Average wave heights will drop off to 4+ faces thru the weekend on all south and southwest facing spots. A new 220 will be coming in late Sunday bringing surf back up to overhead to double overhead early Monday. Tides are running high with the new moon. Playa Grande, Playa Avellannes, & Playa Negra should be the weekend spots. T Bay is coming in at overhead at the rivermouth and should continue to be a fun board wave over the weekend. Witch's has been triple overhead and may be worth a trip on Friday thru Sunday.
(2) offshore wind in morning, the Tam. rivermouth
(3) Sunny. Good size surf. Playa Negra, Avellanas, y el rancho en Playa Junquillal.
(4) For this weekend a north swell that arrived yesterday will stick around, with hot weather and excellent sunsets. Best spots: river (left), the rock (right), the wooded-point (left at high tide) Langosta's rivermouth (left and right) "El Sapo" (way offshore break, that was 10 feet yesterday), Avellanas: high tide in front of El Golfo Persico and La Purruja, rising and dropping tide at El Palo or in front of the park, the rivermouth and Little Hawaii
JACO & HERMOSA (JH)
(5) SWELL SHOULD HOLD TILL THE WEEKEND. WINTER WEATHER PATTERN AFTERNOON CLOUDS SHOULD MAKE FOR GLASSY EVENING SESSIONS.
QUEPOS & MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
(6) This weekend we are hoping for good surfing especially if this present swell decides to stick around. As far as weather conditions, the past few days we have been receiving some rain showers, but we are hoping for some sunny weather over the weekend. Like always, the best places to surf is at Bajos and Playitas in Manuel Antonio. Otherwise, I recommend surfing at the Damas river mouth that can get very big and with pounding waves especially during big swells. Playa Del Rey is also another fun surf spot.
DOMINICAL (D)
Beach break with morning high tides and offshore winds. Should stay overhead all weekend.
CARIBBEAN (C)
Probably the Beachbreak
"I heard it in the water"
(N) T Bay is still busy with lots of surfers and lots of parties. No strange things reported in the water. At Pasatiempo, we offer the best bar and restaurant en Tam. con dinner specials every night. On April 17th , the first Tam. party will have bull riding, and local food and drinks.

JACO Y HERMOSA (JH)
(5) Jaco - Tan grande, olas estan cerrando / Hermosa - doble sobre-cabeza; Roca Loca / Herradura - doble sobre-cabeza+ Glassy en la mañana, vientos livianos onshore despues de 9:00 - 10:30
QUEPOS Y MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)

TAMANA DE LAS OLAS y CONDICIÓNES -
NICOYA (N)
JACO Y HERMOSA (JH)
(5) Jaco - Tan grande, olas estan cerrando / Hermosa - doble sobre-cabeza; Roca Loca / Herradura - doble sobre-cabeza+ Glassy en la mañana, vientos livianos onshore despues de 9:00 - 10:30
QUEPOS Y MANUEL ANTONIO (QMA)
